Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I don't have my 5 hp out board any more, so I was just restricted to ish the cove only this evening. My olks got ahold o another outboard or ree so soon I will be able to ish other areas again. Lately I've been in the process o buying my irst home in the Lincoln district next to Village Oaks school. I've been so use to ishing almost every day, but now it is once a week or awhile. Any ways back to the ishing. I only hooked and landed three bass or the three hours o ishing until dark. Excaliber Swimm'in Image, Zoom Super Flukes, and black buzzbaits were the lures o choice. Big ish went 4.5 lbs. on the buzzbait around 8:45 P.M. Shallow cranks in the open water and lukes in the weedy areas were producing well as the sun was going down. I enjoyed the evinrude 5 hp. I'd like to thank my riend or loaning it out to me. Thanks. When I move in to my new home I will then be able to keep the custom Valco bass boat "BASS BUSTER 1" in the garage. No more paying rent great!!!!!

Tips: As the weather heats up and stablizes this week, the top water and roggin should improve.

Report: My wie and I loat tube here regularly, and yes the wweds are very bad this year but you just need to adjust your style o ishing. For years we would alwys use 10-12" worms and do very well.but with these conditions we have ound that by gioing snall we are able to ish through the weeds very well and have had some terriic nights on the lake, the night o those 2 turneys we had 7ish or 15lbs last -night we had a7,6.5,5,4.5,3,3,3,and aboutsix others so just adjust there are still there.ps I get charged 2bucks or each loat tube to launch ?????

Report: I was the guy that talked to a couple o the night tourney isherman rom the Friday nite "un est" and they were so right on the act that there was no reaction bite at all. I also agree that the weeds are completely out o control and ater trying every area and getting only a ew line stretchers on throwing a wacky rigged Senko, we inally called it a day around 2PM. I'm still waiting to see i the second mortgage on the homestead has been approved so I can pay to launch there again in the uture. They charge way too much and should consider adjusting the rates when the water gets as low and weeded as it is now. No good news to report or day trips but it appears the real bite is being reserved or night ishing.

      Water Temp: 73

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I fished Berryessa Thursday from 6:30 pm to 2:30 am the next morning with two clients in one of the strongest delta winds (NOT breezes) I have seen there. And it was COLD after sunset. What a contrast to my two previous trips, which were the warmest nights I can remember. I did put on my jumpsuit about midnight. We decided to start behind Goat Island which I thought might be out of the wind some - wrong!! We finally hid around Big Island and really got into some nice largemouth right away on Magic worms, mostly morning dawn 6". One of the guys hooked the largest bass of the trip on the first cast, and I told him he better loose it - bad luck. So, he lost it - couldn't believe it. I told him not to take me so seriously!! Anyway, the other fella landed a nice 2 1/4 largemouth, and we got a few other good bass, including a smallmouth about 15 inches. After dark, it was very slow - the total opposite of the previous report. We wound up with only 10 in the boat, and three of those were 12" and under. Many short bites, as you can imagine in a cold front. All they would do with my jig is rip the grub tail off! The Berkley 7" Power worm again was the best bait after dark. The jig, topwater, crank, senko, whatever bite, didn't happen.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: This was a typical summer cold front, except it was longer than normal, cooling down the water temp 7 degrees. That will change the bite, and it will always be worse. The big fish usually are not feeding as much, making it favorable for the dinks to move in. It always is amazing to me how a lake can change in a matter of days. If someone had fished Berryessa for the first time on the previous trip, they would have thought it was the best lake in the world. My latest clients probably feel the opposite. Things usually return to normal after the third day of a warming trend. One tip for summer cold fronts, take the bulk out of your baits - make them thinner and shorter. That might help you hook some of the short strikers. The evening bite is usually better than the morning bite during a cold front.

Report: High-pressure system moved in on Friday and weather started to warm. Figured this would spark a decent bass bite. Took my brother with me on Saturday who has never ished beore. We hit every prominent point rom the narrows to the dam. Fished rom 6:30 to 10:30 in 15 t o water o points. Simple split shot presentation on 8 lb outit. From 7 to 9 the bite was hot. We landed 8 bass and lost about 6 or 7. 2 Smallies and 6 largemouth and 1 catish was our total count..My brother did manage to hook and land one bass. All bass were 1.5 to 2.5 lbs. He was getting a little rustrated so I thought we would switch over to trolling. Heard people were still catching trout, but I wanted to try or salmon. They dropped some in about 2 years ago and I have caught a ew rom 6 inches to 15 inches. Haven

      Tips: troll ast or salmon.

I heard that it was better up on the Lopez arm.

      Water Temp: 79

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the Basin Bassmaster Club tourney on Fri. night-Sat morning. I would like to say we killed em, but it was pretty much a tough night. I know the ish are there, but the weeds in Amador are so thick. I'm not talking about the usual weed build up on the rocks in the coves, but thick weeds extending o the shoreline. These weeds are now covering at least 85% o the shoreline. This took away the spinnerbait and crankbait bite. I can usually get a limit in less than 2 hours by throwing worms, blades or crankbaits up in about 6 inches o water and then either crawling the plastic out or slow rolling the blade and crankbait. All the ish we did get were up in the irst 5 eet o water, so I know they were shallow. The problem was the weeds extended out into 15 eet o water and the ish were not in the deep water. My partner and I ended up with 10 pounds or so and the winning weight was just over 20 pounds. The winners said they got there ish by inding the ew places where you could get a worm in behind the weeds. While nobody got into goo numbers o ish, there were 4 5+ pounders weighed in.
      City: Roseville

Tips: I am tempted to call the lake owner (Bob Lockhart) and putting in a complaint about the extreme weed growth. I think it's time to do a little spraying and clear out some o that crap. Believe me, I don't like the idea putting any chemicals in the water, but the weeds are out o control. They charge way too much money to sit out there and struggle to even ind a good place to get some decent bassin' in. I mean, isn't one o the main reasons or night basin' so you don't have to ish in 25 eet o water.

Report: Launched out o holland at 6am, started with a buzzer around cruiserhaven and that slough that runs over to Bull rog. Didn't get even a swirl onthe buzzer. Tried a blade and a jig in the same area, still nothing. These were areas I hadnever ished beore, so I decided to stop looking or newwater and ran to a spot in Franks were I usually get something...no dierent today.Picked up 6 keepers mostly 1-2#s, one 4#s, on zipper worms on the outside weed edge near a deep hole. As the tide started moving outI started lippin a jig along tule berms with deep water right against the tules in Holland Cut. Picked up a bunch more dinks and small keepers.I'd had enough o the small stu, so I started ast rolling one o thoseledgebuster spinnerbaits in the current in 10-15t right o the same stretch o tules I was lippin. Lo and behold, itworked...well at least once anyway...nailed a at 6#er that nearly rippedthe rod rom my hand. Finished up the day back near Cruiser haven were I got a ew more small keepers on the jig.sure is nice to ish without all the yaw-hoos buzzin' around.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Wish I knew how to make a day like today happen more oten, so I could actually give tips that mean something. The only thing common about where I caught ish was that deep water and current was close by.Black-n red jig with #167 DT grub, watermelon w/red lake zippers, and 1 1/2 oz white ledgebuster.

Report: Launched out o Paradise Point at 8:00 a.m. Began by ishing the end o Dissapointment Slough. This has always been a productive area or me, but today....nothing! I was ishing an incoming tide. Started with a black buzzbait..nothing. Switched to a white buzzbait....nothing. Tried dierent color Senkos inside the weedline and outside the weedline. Tried the Senko in deeper water (8-14 t)....nothing. Tried lippin' the Senko, brown and black jigs and tubes...nothing. Ran up to White Slough to see i it might be any better. Tried roggin (maybe not long enough)....nothing. Came back out to the connection slough between White and Paradise Point, and tried tossing a chartreuse spinnerbait with willow lea blades....nothing.I inally conceded deeat and pulled the boat out at 2:00 p.m. This is the irst time in 2 years that I have blanked so badly.I would love to hear about anyone else ishing the Delta today and how they did. Where did I go wrong? The only remedy I can think o is to try it again tomorow! Oh well! I can handle that!
