Report: Actually we were ishing at Hidden Valley Lake, about 14 miles south o Clear Lake. On July 5, at 8:45am my eleven year old son caught a 3lbs. Bass with a Mistic Shad-R, using a $20.00, 4 t trout pole, while he was standing on a dock. There were alot o people atempting to ish on the 4th o July, using bass boats, trolling motors etc. but met with negative results. On the day my son caught his ish, it was the only day we had to seriously ish. The weahter was to hot to stay out past 9:00am and I'm glad he landed his bass beore then. I have to give credit o my sons catch to a personal riend o mine, Pro Bass Fisherman, Gene Iovino. With out his help and tips or catching Bass during hot weather, we would have caught nothing but a sun burn.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished last night rom about 9pm to 1:30am. Could not go ar because I was by mysel and the wind was blowing again. Stayed near the marina area. Saw only one boat during that time. Kind o slow night or me. Got ish on blades and senkos. All shallow. Biggest ish was about 3lber on slowrolling blade. They were hitting blade hard. Every hit on the all. Reel a little and let it all and then hang on. Caught senko ish also. Black with blue lake. Does it really matter? As long as its dark colored or whatever your conident in. I had a guy with me one night sticking some nice ish with i you can believe this, 6inch morning dawn zipper worms. Go igure. Anyway, ish shallow and go through areas that you think might hold ish at least 3 or 4 times during the night. Keep returning to areas that you ished because eventually ish will move up during the night. Its a timing thing as G-man says.
City: petalumaTips: Blades and senkos or me. Keep switching them up. I you ind grass throw senkos. At some time during the night the ish will show up there. I guess topwater will work also, depending on the wind. I heard there's going to be another cooling trend towards the weekend. What that will do to the ish, I have no idea. Don't think, just ish.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: LAKE POWELL FISH REPORTJuly 19, 2001 By Wayne Gustaveson Home Page: www.wayneswords.com Lake Elevation: 3671 Water Temperature: 77-83 FMost game ish are entrenched in summer patterns which mean early morning and late eveningactivity periods with a siesta at mid day.The very best time to ish is rom daylight to 9 am. Bass and stripers are chasing shad irst thingin the morning and are catchable every calm morning. Bass are taken along the shore line aroundstick ups and prominent rocky structure with surace poppers (Pop-r, Sugoi splash, chug bug).Cast near structure. Allow the lure to rest until ripples dissipate. Twitch once and rest. Twitchtwice and then work lure back to the boat in a steady chugging motion to tantalize bass. Stripers will be in open water. Watch or splashes and/or 2-3 swirls. The action may be verysubtle so concentrate on the water surace until you become adept at seeing the small signs. Individual ish splashes are probably carp but two or more splashes in close proximity are usuallystripers. A surace lure placed within the splash ripple created by the rolling ish will cause animmediate slash at your surace lure. (Excalibur Super Spook Jr., Zara spook, Jumpin

Lafayette Lake

Water Temp: 70-73 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I ished Laayette today starting around 11:30, and ending around 5:00. I didn't ind much until around 2:30. I was ishing around in the east cove split shotting a 4 inch worm and managed to get a ew bites in about nine eet o water, about ive or six eet rom the tulles. I got one strike, then I cast again and hooked up on what elt like about a 2 or 3 pounder, then it got o. I ished the same area or another 45 minutes and got a dozen more strikes, all o the ish biting short and ripping up my worms. I inally let with no ish. The water temp was in the low 70s and I didn't see any ish, I just lost them. Oh well. The wind was between 10 and 20 mph the whole day, and it was a little hard to control the boat.
City: Pleasant HillTips: I noticed a posting by Jon below. Jon- I'm no bass pro at Laayette. Scratch that- I'm no bass pro period, but I'll try to help. First o all, there are bass in Laayette, and not just a ew. I've seen numerous bass exceding 10 pounds, and many smaller ones. I've been ishing the lake or over three years. That isn't that long, but I have learned a lot rom and about the lake. Mysel and many o the people I've talked to have ound this lake hard to ish, but once you get the hang o it, you won't have a problem. I mysel am still working on getting the hang o it. As or a location, I look or sheltered areas in 10 or 15 eet o water. Most o the summer time the bass will be at these depths. I usually ish deep diving crankbaits over deeper weed beds and weed edges. A split shotted 4 inch worm is also a great bait to have. When the bass are more active you can also ind them cruising over shallower weed beds. Flipping and pitching into the tulles is also eective, I ind it to be the most eective during stable weather. As or good lure choices, perch and trout patterned baits are good. Any smaller split shot rigged baits, deep diving cranks, and spinnerbaits also produce. Many other baits are great as well, as long as you know where to ish them eectively. I hope I helped you, as I said, I'm no pro.

Report: Fished the east shoreline rom 6:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m.(been ishing same area or 13 years) it's hot but there are big bass out there..landed 6 ish-4 on a carolina rig with a our inch salt-in-pepper-grub(also with a red bead) 1-ish on a rattle-trap.. and get this a 7-pound ish on a A.C. plug...I spotted this ish in about 10 eet o water chasing around what looked to be like a small rainbow trout..so I had a 9-inch plug in my tackle box tied it on threw it out and connected..nice..
City: pomonaTips: this place has some huge bass in it...don't give up anything shad colored will work...I think size is important here..this lake has a good population o bass rom the 5-6 pound range,,you see them every spring so I think bigger baits will get these ish to bite...try A.C. plugs....
