Coyote Lake

Report: I headed over to the dam area after work around 5:30pm tons of fish jumping. Water is very low, I don't think I have ever seen it so low. Started with plastics and no takers. Threw in my LC minnow sp and had a taker but it got off =(. Few minutes landed another around 4-5-lbs. Nothing else all evening. I fished for about 2 hours.

Camp Far West Lake

Report: Fished from 7:30 to 11:30, very warm, fished dam and secondary points pitched in isolated willows. Boated 8- 1 to 2 lb. bass and 2 nice 3.5 spots.
First time I fished alone in a while, more fun when you have some one to talk to.
City: Plumas LakeTips: Got all the bass on plastics, green/brown and watermelon color within 10 feet.
Worked it slow.

Clear Lake

Report: Fished Lake with my partner first time this year. Got out at 5am for a crack at topwater bite. Not great but caught 3 on super spook and 1 on a rico in a 45 minute window, no other blow-ups. Fished east side of narrows. Tried Lakeport but fan boats spraying tons of purple weed killer into lake, no fish to be found. Picked up 3 more on north end, 1 on jig, 1 on beaver, 1 one senko. Added 1 more on a frog at 2pm. Temp got to a blistering 101 with no shade. Added 2 more 5lb cats to total up against some pilings on senkos. Algae starting to go into full bloom will take over many spots on lake soon. Total 8 bass, 3lb ave. 2 cats, and only one missed fish. Not great but quality good, no consistent pattern!
City: San FranciscoTips: Cover water fast in early morning. If you find some post spawn fish stay on them until they shut off. Look for shade and dark spots in tules in the afternoon, it's HOT and bright on the lake. LOTS of guys beating up the same tule lines look for more secluded stuff most guys overlook. Fish are still hitting very subtle even on the topwater. Good Luck and Good Fishin.

Report: Who would be dumb enough to guide 2 days after the 4th of July weekend?? Me, I guess, if clients wanted to go. Three of them did and off to the lake we went. Actually, the bite was as I thought it would be - and maybe a little better. One of the fellas was a good stick and caught a bunch! The other two were missing a lot of fish - and I'm sure lots of those bites were dinks - since they are everywhere now. So, a few minutes before we start heading in, at 1:20 in the afternoon, one of them sticks big fish for the day - at 16 inches! The the other fellow catches 2, one just under the slot. All told, they caught around 25 and I caught a few too - trying different color Robo worms for them. I stumbled on a winner! Fish wouldn't look at morning dawn, a solid winner for the past several weeks. What color was hot today? M.Mutilator II. Who wouda thunk!
City: Yuba CityTips: Summer is here and the lake shows it. Small bass have invaded the shallows, hitting the fishing line, following baits to the boat, and biting non-stop. Air temp was nearly 100 and water temp mostly from 79 to 81. Can't make to many judgements on the bite so soon after the major holiday. We found most of our fish on underwater rockpiles, ridges, shadelines, and rock walls. Not too many on points. Stayed in the middle fork all day.

Anderson Lake

Report: Great day at Anderson, caught a mess of fish on a variety of techniques all over the lake North and South. In the morning picked up a couple on a white spinner and a few more on a T-rigged Sweet Beaver (California 420). Mid-day to afternoon (got really hot) switched to C-rigged BBrushhog in watermelon and red flake and drop-shot RoboWorm Alive Shads in Sxy Shad and Ayu. Went through two packs, lost the bait on almost every darn fish!
City: MontereyTips: Bigger fish ~2# hit the spinner, beaver, and brush hog. All the bigger guys were tight up against the bank. The little Anderson specials were all in deeper water ~10-20' using the drop shot.

Report: ok so read the posts put on here first off the last one sounds alot like a sales gimik. Been fishin this lake for over 14 years never seen a smallmouth in here. Also largmouth fishing is not good at all cheack the species the spotted bass fishing is ok. Not to mention the lures said to be used are not producers on this lake it is a hard to fish finess lake i know this place! So come on guys if your gona post a report lets KEEP IT REAL!!! I am here when you say your fishing and i know when your lieing

Shasta Lake

Report: Very hot day on the lake. Thought I would avoid the boat traffic, but I guess people don't work any more. Worked a stretch near Lakeshore, mostly rocks and some brush in the water. Fish seemed to be holding in little pockets. Slow finesse tactics seemed to work the best. If you don't die from the heat you may from catch too many small fish.
City: Santa RosaTips: Bites can be slow to come, stick to the area you catch one and a bigger fish will show up. Shade pockets or inner covers seemed to be the ticket. Have fun!!

Berryessa Lake

Report: The past ten days have been very exciting. First I took Carla and her "bachlorettes" out for a day of fishing and partying. The next day I took out Sarah and decided to head towards the Ranch house. We trolled in one of my favorite areas and she was bringing bass in one after the other. Instead of continuing on we trolled the same strip over and over until she caught her limit (see photo). The next day I took out Kevin and decided to try the same strip again. He also caught fish but it took him awhile to get into the flow of landing the bass. He also tried topwater lures with no success. I believe with the amount of holiday boat traffic that it turned the topwater bite off. The following day Megan and I headed out with hotdogs because she wanted to catch some catfish before we fished for bass. She ended up catching a couple of catfish, a squawfish (sacramento pike) and a few bass. Lastly I took out Dan who ended up catching a good size catfish, bass and trout. My buddy John told me he caught two nice bass from shore using a senko. The water temperature is 78 degrees and the visibility is 10 feet down for sure. All in all it was a very good weekend for fishing. 'til next time.........................good fishing!!!!

Camanche Lake

Report: Fished the 4th Holiday weekend. Caught 25-30 bass mostly spots. Caught several really big fish. Lagest was 9lbs, then a 5lb, a couple of 3-4lbs. Bite was actually pretty tough with the boat traffic. Fish were all shallow on points. Biggest fish were taken on top water, PopR and Jitter Bug late evening. Lots of AM fish caught on shallow crankbait and C-rig plastics.
City: Foster CityTips: No top water AM. Look for shallow points with weeds. Start with shallow crankbait then work the productive areas with Carolina rig. Fish were 1-5 ft deep.

El Capitan Lake

Report: The water is clearing up, and it's falling fast. The fish are moving into there summer pattern. The fishing is still great just like it has been all year. This place is a little fish factory, it seems like there's always a way to catch em.
City: LakesideTips: I haven't spent much time in the very back, but on the main lake check the points. Keep a eye out for the breaking fish also. If you can't get a bite try a drop shot, with a Robo worm.

Lexington Lake

Report: Great to get back out on Lexington! Had a good first day caught(and released 7) Had success pulling a white spinner through stick ups and flipping a T-rigged Sweet Beaver. Lake is full of baby (4") bass. 3 of my seven were not much bigger than the spinner bait! The rest were decent 2-3#.
City: MontereyTips: Seemed to be eating little green backed white bellied crayfish.

Report: Threw cranks, dragged worms and reeled buzz baits looking for action at sundown. Caught one small walleye on a roboworm about 2000 at east side of island where all the seagulls are at a depth of 12-15 ft. Next trip to the river.

Sonoma Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hot and very bright and sunny day. It was more windy than I prefer to fish in my canoe, but the direction of the breeze was suitable to good shoreline drifts in most areas. Caught about a dozen fish. Although most were small, I found a 4 1/2 pound largemouth and a two pound smallmouth. The largemouth were caught on a drop shot with 4" senkos and I caught several smallmouth on a KVD Tennessee Shad crankbait.
City: Santa RosaTips: Try new fishing methods. The battery for my trolling motor died, so I was forced to change how I was fishing. I switched to a Texas-rigged senko on a drop-shot and fished the outer edges of weed beds. The bigger largemouth were in 6-10 feet of water. Since it was windy, the shorelines in and near the main lake had muddy water late in the day. Since I was paddling and drifting back to Yorty Creek (fortunately the wind was blowing in a favorable direction), I casted the crankbait and caught quite a few smallmouth. They were suspended in deeper water probably 30-50 feet from shore.

Clear Lake

Report: Mike Sperbeck and I made a return trip to Clear Lake last night to see if we could keep the night bite going. We did. He started the trip at dusk with a downer - losing a big fish! I started with the hot hand and then he took over. We fished for about 5 hours, 'til 1:30 am and we each boated 6. Our best 5 was almost like the last trip - about 25 lbs. His best was 5 lbs even and I landed a 5 lb 9 oz and a 6 lb 7 oz beauty. Only 3 of our bass were under 3 lbs. The best bite was during what is supposed to be the slow time - the hour after dark. Go figure!! The bite really slowed after 11:30. I caught the biggest on a D&M Piranha swim jig w/ 6" Yamamoto grub trailer. The other were caught on Senkos, Power worms, and brush hogs. Fish all seemed to be from 10 to 25 feet.
City: Yuba CityTips: We tried some topwater and buzzbaits at dark when we started, but no takers. I think Mike is fishing an upcoming night tourney, so I will end the report here.

Berryessa Lake

Report: Hello Steve Johnson, I've been fishing berressa for many many years. You may want to use a lots of light line because of the water clarity when using plastics unless you're using top water. Look for weeds in the east side of the lake and thwow spooks around cover early in the morning an late even. I'm sure you probably know about that already. Try using small dart heads around islands , points and bluffs. I usually use 4 1/2 inch strait tail worms on a 1/8 oz. darthead in morning dawn,original green weenie, and oxblood colors. Try small ring worms too in salt and pepper and also grubs in smoke color. Fish the windy ares in points and wind blown in coves, especially weeds for large mouths. With the water always being so clear I always use 6 lb. test to get more bites. Also use 4 inch sinkos in natural colors to shad colors an make lond casts.
City: san mateoTips: When fishing this lake,Fish a lot of islands. There aren't too many but there is some to fish. You may try some islands on the north west end of the main lake. The smaller baits will get yopu more bites. Just make sure there is always deep water close to where you're fishing. They hang around the ledges.

Report: Launched out of H&H at sunrise. Caught 8 fish in 2 hours never losing sight of the marina, with a 3lb 8oz and 2lb 9oz holding tight to the tule islands. The bite slowed for many hours, with just a few more small fish in White Slough. Fished Sycamore Slough from 2:00 to 4:30 for 9 more fish, mostly dinks outside submerged weed-lines, with a 4lb 8oz tight to the tules mixed in. Ended the day with 19 fish, best 5 just under 14 pounds according to my scale.
Tips: Primarily used Texas-rigged 5” Senkos, slow retrieve or dead-sticked. Red Shad or PB&J colors in the morning and Green Pumpkin or Watermelon in the afternoon. Water clarity in Sycamore was 5+ feet.

Report: Launched 7am New Hope..high tide chocolate milk through Hog Slough and lotta flotsam/debris through to the Mokulemne/Tower, plus lots of skiers and old fogies zippin' around in their inflatables, no manners!
OK, fishing report: Started at fav B&W tule strips and picked up a few 12"ers on red-eye shad and speed traps. Drifted down on the opposite rockwall/weedbed side and picked up a few more 1-2-lbers on kvd 1.5 in sexy shad (I really didn't catch anything with this crank til yesterday)...drifted to our fav single dock and picked up a few more 1-lbers after switching to red/orange craw speedtraps. Water was churned up pretty good and tried to go through White Slough but that's when the old fogies in inflatables just zipped within 10 yds of our boat without even blinking an eye, one even stared at me like "What?"...so at that point, we knew it was time to just get off the water and let the holiday boaters have their fun.
City: folsomTips: Speed traps and lipless cranks (we prefer Red Eye Shad in 1/4oz craw colors) along tops of submerged weed patches.
Share the water with manners. There were many wake, ski, and large craft who slowed down as they passed us, but that many more who didn't see the need. Yeah I know, if we can't take it, don't get on the water.

Eastman Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water the water about 7:45 p.m. to beat the heat. Started on the south end of the lake throwing a c-rig. My partner picked up a couple of 2's with a c-rigged brush hog. Moved up to the north end of the lake at dusk. Started throwing blades and buzzer with no luck. Switched to a black and blue jig. Hooked up with and boated a toad that went 7lbs. Not longer after my patner hooked up with a good one that broke off at the boat. I caught another about 3lbs. and broke one off on the hook set. Got off the water about 12:30.
City: FresnoTips: The fish wanted a slower presentation. Check your line frequently the rocks really tear it up.
