Report: Wanted to try out new Cal-West drop shot rod, so brother and I went to LB Creek to see if we could get bit. Got on the water at 6:00am and I caught three fish in the first fifteen minutes all on the drop shot; they would not eat spinner bait(white/shad, fluke(pearl)or crank bait(chart/shad) so I got out the new drop shot rod and caught three on a Keeper 082 4" worm.
We did not get bit again until late in the day and I ended up catching about twenty more from 7:00pm until dark.
Pitching drop shot to edge of tullies and just shaking it for a couple of seconds.
Biggest one was pushing five with a bunch of 1.5-2.5 fish.
City: HilmarTips: Pitch to tully edges and creek channel breaks. Early and late were great, mid day sucked!

Report: Had a great weekend of fishing but Friday started out slow. I took my good friends Kitty and her husband Bob and Kitty's sister Kathy out for the day. We started at the Ranch house and Kitty used a top water lure to start the day and we had a bit of excitement as a at least 3 lb. bass rolled over the lure but did not get hooked. We continued trying the top water lure for many more casts without any luck. Trolling to the Vineyards produced a large trout for Kathy on a "Rattle Trap" lure. At the Vineyards Kathy threw the "Rattle Trap" lure in about seven feet of water just coming across the weeds and caught a nice size sunfish. With nothing happening at the Vineyards I went to the Monticello Ski School and trolled to the back where Bob was catching smaller size bass with a "Speed Trap" lure (silver and blue). On Saturday morning we parked our boats at one of our favorite coves. Like last weekend we decided to put a pole on shore and set it up to catch catfish. I used a hotdog for bait as usual and while we were all swimming my son was BBQing and saw the rod bent over in half he dropped everything and ran to reel in the rod. He brought in a 9 lb. catfish (see photo). Later in the afternoon I took out Al for a little while because he wanted to try and catch a fish. We were trolling by the Bureau when he was hit by a 2.5 lb. largemouth bass which he landed like a pro. When the day was over we trolled all the way in. On my boat I caught four bass and on my son's boat he caught three bass one of which was a smallmouth weighing almost 3 lbs. (see photo). Sunday I went out earlier then the others and headed straight to the Ranch house. My first twenty casts of topwater landed three bass and at the point I used a "River2Sea" crawdad with "Pro-cure" crawdad scent and picked up and released a limit. Then I headed over to the cove where I was to meet my family and I set-up two rods for catfish one with a hotdog and one with mackerel. Just as my son arrived and his buddy Dan (who had fished with me previously)walked over to my boat I had a hit and Dan reeled in the catfish which weighed a whopping 12lbs 8 ozs (see photo). Dan wormed with a "Senco" from shore and picked up a couple of bass. Another great weekend. 'til next weekend..............................................good fishing!!!

Report: Sorry, late report. Fished old river, south of Disco on the outgo. Strictly threw frogs(snag proof, Bobby's,green with green legs) from 6:30am to 11am and only came up with 4 keepers, biggest went 3.5lbs and smallest 1.5lb. A few dinks here and there. Tossed frogs to rock banks with laid over hydrilla nearby and let it sit til rings disappear. Began a varied retrieve from 'pop-pop' to steady back to the boat then pause. Let fish tell ya what they want these days. Nothing too steady yet.

Report: Fished Little Potatoe and White Slough for 8 fish but largest was only 2.5 lbs. Threw lots of offerings - a red lipless crank was a fish favorite early and a dark senko worked best in the afternoon on both sides of high tide.
Tips: This was my first trip on a weekend in quite awhile. Lots of boat traffic in the afternoon but it was fairly quiet in the morning. Go early.

Report: My brother and I went out of Orowood at safelght and fished until 1:30. We caught and released 40+ fish. We threw watermelon Senkos, white Spinnerbaits and various colors of Rattle and Speed Traps, with minimal hookups or followers. We switched to red. That was the color, Senkos #302, Speedtraps, rattletraps and spinnerbaits. We tossed white frogs, alittle bit, and had 4 blowups but no hookups. The bite was solid, you knew you had one.
Fish were only in the 6" to 2-3/4# range, but it was a good day for not having any wind.

Report: Well I can't recall the last time I've seen the algae bloom this bad...must have been in the 90s maybe. The dominant algae is also the real stinky stuff...my kids said it smelled like fish food flakes or a porta-potty. The stuff was so thick in areas it would clog my guides and even worse a 1/2oz jig would suspend in it. Find some cleaner water with weedbeds and you'll find the fish.

Report: Got on the water at 7am. I started working a custom walking bait and forth cast BAM 8 1/2 Pounder!!! Boy I thought it was going to be on. One bite on a HUDD the rest of the day and that was it. She hit it like a freight train but some how she didnt get hooked. DEAD SEA the rest of the day. I didnt get the normal followers either. Water is finally going down. Maybe that was the problem, fish just havent adjusted yet. But hey it was a good day for a guy that JUST STARTED throwing big baits.
Good luck out there! Bring sun screen, you'll need it!

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Just another shameless plug and fish report for/from Diamond Valley Lake.
Today, Saturday July 22, 2011 I went out fishing with fellow Mojo Pro-staffer Brian Day. We caught something close to 20 largemouth bass by 1 PM; but to be honest, neither one of use were actually counting. We were just having a good time.
Nearly all of our fish were keepers and were caught on the drop shot rig with MOJO weights. I would estimate that our best 5 would have easily broken the 16 pound mark but no way the 20 pound mark.
Now the best part was how we ended the day. About 15 minutes before we headed in we had a double hook up of a 2 and a 2.5 pound fish, Brian's was larger. Then, a few minutes later, on my last cast of the day, I caught another nice keeper and while I was stowing my rods Brain also caught a keeper on his last cast. Man, wouldn't it be nice to end every day of fishing like that.
Now for those of you who want pictures... I sorry but I haven't figured out how to post pictures here in the reports but I have three pictures on my blog site.
http://www.SchneiderFishing.com
Besides, if I posted the pics here, how would I get you to visit my site.
Like I said, it's a shameless plug; and while I'm at it, if you've been waiting for a good time to get out and fish DVL, now's the time to go and/or book a trip! Have fun and catch fish!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Spent only a few hours fishing (2 P.M. - 5 P.M.) from my float tube around the channel near the south swim beach. Caught 3 small largemouth from the shade pockets with a Texas-rigged red Roboworm. Lost another bass before I left. Had to take it slow, and set hook whenever I felt a snag, for there was little difference between the fish's bites and the snags as I was being blown around in my tube.

Report: Luanched the custom valco "BASSBUSTER1" out of Ladd's at 9:00 a.m. and headed for 14 Mile Slough behind LVW Marina. Top of high tide and was just starting the out going, red senkos and red/chartrues Rat-L-Traps was the ticket today for 12 bass up to 2.5 lbs. Flipped and punched a cuople on a Blk/red fleck Beaver as well. Also a cuople blow-ups on a white frog, but no hook up. Off the water by 1:00 p.m. to get some sleep for work that night.
City: StocktonTips: The bass were holding on shaded areas of docks and weeded areas around the docks.

Report: Got out with my bro in the tubes in afternoon for four spots, biggest three pounds. 5" Senko, Bomber crank in shad color. Two were dinks. All fish seem to be relating to wind blown banks and a little deeper water.
City: ConcordTips: Three pound spot smacked the senko on a retrieve to make another cast. Made me think, throw the crankbait.

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: The water temperature dropped at least five degrees this weekend and the winds picked up. It made it a little tougher to keep the boat in one location for too long. It was easier to troll then to worm. On Friday afternoon I decided to fish the three points by the Bureau of Reclamation first. We started in about 65 feet of water and trolled over the point which was about 8 feet of water and then back into deep water. I kept this pattern up for about forty minutes and ended up with a limit of bass all in the 2 to 2.5 lb. range. The following day I took Kevin and Jory out in the afternoon and I decided to fish the same location and pattern as the day before. The wind was stronger and there were whitecaps. Kevin picked up a bass on each pass (see photo) and he ended up with near limit. Four bass were caught in less then an hour. Jory caught a bass almost the same size as the lure (see photo). On Sunday we headed out a little earlier the water was calmer and I had a friend's daughter Rachel, who likes to be called Moe, with me along with Kevin. We decided to troll again and had a fun day with Moe bringing in a large fish which she landed with a little help from Kevin. My son Henry and his wife Sarah were in a cove near the Bureau along with my wife. Sarah had set-up a pole on the shoreline with a bell using a small hook and hotdog as bait determined that she would get a catfish. As the afternoon went by we almost forgot about the pole until the bell sounded and Sarah went flying to get hold of the rod. She landed a good size catfish (which Moe is holding in the photo) to the delight of everyone. I would say it was a good fishing weekend but the best part is being out on the water with friends and family. 'til next week...............................good fishing!!!!

Report: Based on previous report, thought we'd try White Slough. Bro caught one on red craw spinnerbait just past the far end of Tower Marina on the way to White Slough but that was the first one of the day....then zip...our usual offerings (cranks-speedtraps / lipless & senkos) weren't working or we weren't working them right. So we went to our usual fav spot on the Mokulemne around the corner from B&W...between my bro and me, caught 9 keepers, best going just under 3lbs, rest avg'g 1.5 - 2.5lbs. All on cranks, speedtraps, lipless/red eye shad in craw colors, and kvd 1.5 in sexy shad.
City: folsomTips: Work speedtraps and lipless over and on outside of weed patches in anywhere from 4' to 12'. Once we touch weeds, stop/pause, pump 2x-3x, slow 2-r cranks, pause, pump 2x-3x. Hits all came on the pause or between pumps. Almost like a semi-rip cadence. On one 2.5lber, I paused to look behind me at a ski boat that dropped a skier and my rod doubled up and almost got pulled out of my hand..then tried Sycamore but we don't know where to work in Sycamore so we didn't do any better than White Slough. If anyone cares to offer some insights and tips on Sycamore, that's appreciated!

Don Pedro Lake

Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water about 6:00am and man it is a full pool, water is about a foot from going over the spill way.
Started near Blue Oaks throwing a blade and cranks with no takers, moved out to a little deeper water looking for rock piles and caught a few small fish. Drop shot and dart head is the only thing we could get them to eat.
We had eight fish with biggest one going about two ponds.
City: HilmarTips: Great mudd line with water being up in the grass, seems like a blade, chatter bait or fluke would work some where on this lake.

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 73-81
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I've had lots of tripsin the last few weeks and fishing has been good some days and not so good other days. On the most part its been good and its great having a full lake. My clients have been singles and as many as four at a time. Top water has been working in the morning and in the evening with spooks. Tubes, worms, jigs all have been working and also lipless crank baits have been working mainly in the afternoon. The bait that has done the best over all has been the senko. Sunday I had two trips the first being an anniversary for a great couple. It was a lot of fun. The husband took a 4+ lb. large mouth on a senko up the West Branch. Nice bass!
City: ParadiseTips: The bass are sattered. Move to find them, use the basics. The bass are starting to go deeper now.

Report: After buying a brand new battery for my custom valco "BASSBUSTER1" I launched out of Ladd's at 12 noon. I ran her for an hour and started fishing in White Slough(fishing around the entire King's Island). Using Cranks, spinnerbaits, senkos, and finesse straight tail worms I managed to catch 15 bass, largest was just 2.5 lbs. It was bottom out low tide with the first cuople hours of the incoming tide. I was off the water by 7:30 p.m.
City: StocktonTips: Keep changing lures and techniques. There was no set pattern found today. when the wind picked later in the afternoon I had no choice, but to stay with the cranks and spinnerbaits. Tight lines and be safe out there.
