Report: Decided to hit the lake after 4 long months away, with the numerous repairs to the boat and house renovation (total), finally had the opprotunity to go fishing in my boat.

Started in Pozo, saw lots of fish busting surface but found they were just this years hatch. Threw some top water for about an hour with no takers or lookers. Headed to lopez arm and finally caught some fish...LOL 2 small dinks and nothing the rest of the day. Friend who was with me lost a very good fish, he was using 6lb test and the fish dragged his line to bushes 20 feet away without even turning its head. Would liked to have seen that one. Anyway finally lost it after getting tangled in the brush, said he could feel it but couldn't get a grip.

      City: Turlock

Tips: Most of our fish came from shaded cover and deep pockets in the tully"s.

Report: A friend and I tried the evening bite and sampled a little night fishing. Bite was very slow - lots of small bass. I did get a nice smallie on a dropshot Robo worm. She had an above average girth and went a little over 3 lbs. About 30 feet deep. We got another nice spot just before leaving - again - almost 3 lbs. Caught a nice largemouth on topwater before dark and lost another but that bite was dead. Slower fishing than I expected but some quality fish anyway. Night bite was nearly dead.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: All fish were caught on the main body - west shore. Bass were 20 feet or deeper except for the topwater fish.

Report: Took my dad out on my new Triton for a few hours to hook some morning bites. Cranked on an isolated tule island and got a keeper that was out in front of the tules sitting in a grass bed. Next stop was Sycamore slough. Same bait, landed another keeper on the outside weedline between two tule islands. Meanwhile, I grab Bobby's Buzz Frog and threw it over a mat. Hooked a 4 pounder as soon as it came off the mat and ran across the weedline. Went across to the rip rap and cranked on some isolated tules and hooked into another keeper. 3 hours, 4 keepers, new boat and fishin with my trash-talkin dad. Good morning

Report: BY FAR the EARLY morning hours is the best time to fish... DUH? I have been fishing the evenings as of late and have been doing pretty good... BUT, I finally got a chance to get out the water @ 5:30am, and boy, oh boy, the bite was on !! Topwater 'til about 7:00 - 7:30, and then went to dropshot. Scented (green) worms was the ticket. Move the hook up to about 3 ft. and just slow dragged it along. It's all done and said by 10-10:30 am.
      City: UKIAH

Tips: Fish ----> Crappie Cove - Barn Cove - points along the west side, the south end of the dam and the south side of the big island (Treasure island) keep it movin' 'til you find the fish. thanks Don

Report: Caught 5 bass and a crappie. The crappie and a little bass hit a crank within the first few casts. The others were cauht pitching baits to shore related cover. Missed one good one by snapping off a worm and 8# line on my spinning reel and another large one when my BPS baitcaster failed during a hookset.

Tips: Was on the water by 7am and done catching by 10am when the nasty wind started, so go before you get blown off the water. I used see and catch them deep in the summer but have been very unsuccessful here for years now, so now I mostly fish shallow stuff so I at least catch some.

Report: Started off the morning in Willie's cove caught a 6lb. largemouth at about 8:00 on topwater. The rest of the morning caught 50 bass between my wife and I. All dinks and then ended the day with a 3 lb. spot on topwater in skiers cove. Water was like glass all day. Worked drop shot, wacky rig and fluke all day with topwater but only topwater baits caught the fish. Surprised to see lots of large fish with their nose on the bank in the mid day sun.

Report: Re: R-TRUTH I too have heard the report of the “fish kill” as a result of the FTP tournament this past weekend. This was very unfortunate and yes this could have been avoided. By no means was this the intent of any of the anglers involved such as myself or “Vince”. FTP has a lot of well respected members and Vince has done a great job, though at times can do better. Education is the key here to help our fisheries. DFG should limit the number of tournaments at Clear Lake period! I’m sure you fished in 6 maybe 7 events this last year at Clear Lake. Really, do you think that is wise to do for a lake that just gets hammered such as this one? Face it you can find a tournament at this lake more times a week then poker games in the casinos.
      City: Redwood City

Tips: The bigger fish have moved to the Oaks. FTP don't let this happen again.

Report: Fished this last weekend,(Sat) caught nothing but dinks up until 530pm til 730 we caught 8 keepers 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. Sunday am we only caught 3 keepers (small). Off water at 3pm sunday.
Seen other boats but no other reports!
      Thanks for all past reports
      City: Red Bluff

Tips: Caught all keepers on steep shaded shale banks 30ft. Tubes (Dry Creek, Crazy Eddy)

Report: Luanched the custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" at Ladd's about 9 a.m. and was off the water by 8 p.m. Started out worken deep water out in the turning basin looking for deep largi's and stripers. The delta wind came up pretty good so after landing a 3.5 pound LMBass on a duoble willow white spinnerbait went to look for calmer water. I decided to camp most of the day at LVW Marina in 14 Mile Slough to get out of the wind. There was a whole lot of floating slop growing back there and thr frog bite was on. I flipped/pitched/punched sweet beavers as a back up if I missed the blow up on the frog. 14 bass up to 2 lbs. was cuaght back here. By 6 p.m. I decided to head back, but wanted to fish the evening topwater bite on the way. Caught 5 more bass using a chrome/blue Strike King popper.
      City: Stockton

Tips: When the bass did not want the frog or the blow up wasn't a hook up I switched to punchn' the sweetbeaver into the floating slop.

Report: Rooky on the Delta, but fished it 3 times in past 9 days. Launched out of Paradise and Brannon Island. Tied into many on drop shot at base of tulies with Aaron's Magic, Morning Dawn and Oxblood Robo worms. Caught many on rattle traps in Franks Track. Had a couple of blowups on frogs in the moss. Zip on punch, but can see the potential. Caught approximately 28 fish in 3 trips, not a single keeper. Where are the Toads?
      City: Sacramento

Tips: If you are not familiar with the Delta 1.Take GPS. 2.Learn how the tides effect the fishing. 3.Learn how to deal with the wind. 4.WATCH OUT FOR UNDER WATER OBSTRUCTIONS they are rarely marked. 5.Take a phone. 6.Wear your life jacket. You're shRing the water with some BIG boats and ships!

Tips: always carry a extra bag of ice, reguvenate and a back up double a battery operated air reator pump. it's like 8 bucks at bass pro's.

Report: Launched at NewHope 6:45am; straight to low-tide Mokulemne for topwater/frog...nothing at our fav submerged weedbeds so tried crankin'. Put one nice hit on the hook and it went airborne to throw the hook..nice 2lber. That turned out to be my last one for the day. Big brother was changing up from cranks to jigs, senkos and he picked up a few 1-2lbers in Georgiana. Then we went to our island at Sycamore and worked the snot. Lots of blowups and we just couldn't make em stick...waiting the extra second or two and make sure they had it in their mouth put the pull on the rod but they were still spittin' it out..just couldn't put a fish in the boat. Bro nailed a nice 3lber punchin the snot. Kept workin the ouitside snot for many more blowups but nothin' into the boat. Our trolling motor is only 55lbs and we push-poled alot and lost fish. So went to Hog, then Beaver and just like RiverRon, a big frog nailed my Spro. By frog standard, it was a keeper! Pic posted.
      City: folsom

Tips: No tips from this skunk...but my bro hit on Junebug senkos and craw beavers.

Report: Fished Little Potato Slough with best results on the outgoing tide. Caught several on a lipless crankbait and also on a Robo zipper worm. Largest went 3.5 lbs. Of course an even bigger one unbuckled at the boat. I also caught a giant frog while fishing the mats with a Spro popper frog. That was a first for me. My artificial frog happened to go right beside this big fella and to my surprise the real one sprang on it. It looked real funny with my lure sticking out of its mouth. Gives a whole new meaning to how well the frog bite is.

Report: To add to some people being alarmed over dead basses during FTP tournament, I had seen so MANY dead basses at three of their tournaments in the past that the lake looked so white with their bellies being up on surface. And one of that events was in early June, with cool weather! It BROKE my heart and I have had reported to DFG, and apparently they did nothing.
I fish average of 10 tournaments a year for over a decade now, I had only ONE dead bass in my livewell out of those over ten year as I am really careful with my livewell. I NEVER liked the idea of ice as they melt too fast and different water than the lake, causing more stress on fish. Use solidly frozen water bottles, bring about 8 frozen bottles, they will keep your ice chest cold, and handy in live well. Also, I add some hydrodixe proxdien (?), about one oz. to every 3 gallon, to sataure the rich oxygent in live well...Also, everybody in tournament should know how to do the 'fizzing'.
      City: PARADISE

Tips: Come on, STOP fishing if needed to take care of your babies in your well. And tournament rules should be, NO COUNT ON DEAD FISH!

      Report: Fishin Is great

Tips: A lot of complaints Dead fish in the livewell.
General knowledge during the summer Clearlake is very warm. You should carry extra Ice in the boat for your livewells. Tournament fishing or not, It is you responibility. Not a tournament director or anyone else.
Use the cold water in the bottom of your Ice Chest. doesn't take much. You need a cold drink also. Keep plenty of cold water and Ice in the boat during summer. For yourself and your catch.

      Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Camped at Skunk Creek in the Cherry Creek arm. Great fishing early in the morning and the hour before dark. Very tough fishing the rest of the day when the sun is high. Caught at least 25 fish. Most were small, but landed several over two pounds with one about 3 1/2 pounds and another about 4 pounds. Although I threw everything including several different colors of Senkos and worms, jigs, spinnerbaits, and flukes, most fish were caught with a KVD Tennessee Shad crankbait fished close to submerged trees. In the late evening I had the best fishing on a Lucky Craft Pointer 78 American Shad fished over submerged weeds. Picked a few fish during the day on a wacky-rigged baby bass Senko.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: The area between Thumb camp and Skunk camp in the Cherry Creek arm has consistently held the most fish over the last couple of months. Another good area with fewer but larger fish is the north side of Yorty Creek near the main lake. You can expect to catch quite a few smallmouth bass using crankbaits in deeper water near the main lake, too.
