California Delta
-
Water Temp: 65-66
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Mossdale and went way south, to my favorite spot. On the way to my spot I passed the beaver dam's, for those who know where that is I wish everyday that I'll be able to experience fishing in there all I hear are great stories the beaver dam needs like 4 more feet of water to be accessible , once at my spot had some luck on Ocho's and Frogs nothing to brag about but spending time away from school to fish was self-rewarding in itself. Water is muddy in the south end of the delta. I will be back there tomorrow.
Tips: Quit school, work and fish more often.
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: We were just looking for a good evening top water bite. We launched out of Disco Bay around 2pm. Hit up a few sloughs we been on for a minute now. Got a blo up right off top throwin Kermys so I thought for sure its on tonight. But after that hit we were all skunked for the next hour in half. Ended up throwin Senkos and snatchin a 2 pounder up. Then right at sun fall I got a 2 pounder to blo up on my GunFish set the hook and swung him in the boat and called it a night. All togther it was not the greatest bite but a great time out!
City: Disco BayTips: BassAddixx- If you wanna fish the south end of the Delta we all use braid with flouro or mono leaders. 3-4ft leaders to be a lil stealthier. The braid is to visible.

Clear Lake

Diamond Valley Lake
-
Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tough day! Caught fifteen total with nothing to brag about, all small fish. We threw everything; top water, drop shot; shallow to 40', cranks, blades and senko's..Just plain tough.
We watched as the middle of the lake blew up with schools of stripers chasing bait fish, it was probably a fifty yard circle that was exploding with fish. Talked to a couple of guys in different boats and they said that bite was slow for them also.
City: Desert Hot SpringsTips: Get to lake early to beat the traffic, we did not get on the water due to all of the boats ahead of us until close to eight. The gates dont open until 6:45am so that makes it even tougher for the early morning bite.

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My son and I fished all day with 20+ caught by him and 7 by me. I have to say he is the better fisherman. Drop shotting a variety of worms and some top water. did the trick.I love this lake and would fish it even with my low count of 7. It does get tiring watching someone pull in fish after fish ,but it keeps you trying different methods.

-
Millerton Lake
-
Water Temp: 60s
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Due to the SAN JOAQUIN SALMON RESTORATION PROJECT, the outflow of water to the lower San Joaquin River is really affecting the lake. I went out throughout the entire week and you can notice it!! The water clarity is incredible, you can literally see for forever with a good pair of fishing glasses..this makes for tough fishing though, the fishes are very easily spooked. Dock 1 is still in use for boaters.
City: FresnoTips: Go out early!! This is really hard to do due to the fact that it doesn't open until 6...limits up to 12 pounds possible fishing between 6 and 730. Watch the noise and rattles...the fish will be spooked. Spots will be in schools foraging for smaller bass and bluegills.
The bass are in their fall transition stage, so find deep points!! They will be running down those points throughout the day as it gets hotter.
Patterns:
-Shallow Cranking...I prefer the LUCKY CRAFT FAT CB3 in GHOST MINNOW...do this early in the morning...if you want to crank later in the day then make sure you are making contact with some kind of structure if not the bottom.
-Drop Shot...ROBO WORMS in BABY BASS, AARONS MAGIC, AND especially MORNING DAWN!!
-Top Water...frog bite??!! Yes! The frog bite is ON!! But you will have to find the big ones...no doubt dinks are also fun too!..for this I recommend you use ZOOMs HORNY TOAD in BROWN/WHITE with braided or else it will sink!

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Out with my boys to see is the fall bite had started yet. Yes it has not all the way yet but it has started. Went with topwater first and still nothing going at the same time my 6 year old is dragging a brush hog and ties into a pig the fish headed for deep water but came off half way back in. I decided it was time to slow down with some worms within a few casts I have a nice SM around 3 lbs. on the next cast I get another the same size. Then my other son ties into a 3.5 lb LM. After that it was a slow pick but the quality was there cought one more LM 4 lbs and a 2 on a spinnerbait the only keeper reaction fish of the day. The SM were very active and all the fish were very healthy and fat. Only 8 keepers allot of shorts best 5 around 14lbs.
City: VacavilleTips: The bait seened to be more broke up than last time. This has the fish scattered but they still do not want to chase a reaction bait yet. They are moving shallow all the fish in the 20 ft range rather than 35 like last time. Now you just have to cover water to get the fish, from the way it went today the fall bite will happen soon.

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fishing for largemouth. Hit Mouth of Italian Slough by 7 AM. Down Old River and inside Widdow Island until 9:30. Very little to write home about. Caught fish but nothing over 1.0 - 1.5 pounds. Off to Cruiser Haven. Same story there. Off to south side of Mildred Island. Fished points and started nailing more and bigger fish. Got LOT'S of hits and boated fish up to 3.5#. Most guuys fishing around us were using jerks, cranks and swim baits and reported very few fish. We try all baits but always settle on worms. Purple or Grn w/red fleck ALWAYS works for us. Off the water by 3:00. Damn fun day.
Tips: Patience. Sometimes worm fishing means lots of dinks before a hog bites. Don't get caught napping.

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This lake is fishing tough right now. I guess you have to be a pro to catch one. I fished two days and caught nothing. Well, I did catch about 5 bass under 6" if you count those. I fished the south end and the water was pretty clear. Didn't help me a bit. I guess the great Clear Lake is too much for me. Maybe I should of hired a guide but I wasn't asking for much. I just wanted a couple of keeper fish here and there and I would have been happy. I am confused and do not understand the reports claiming success. I never saw a fish caught and didn't talk to anyone that caught a fish other than 6"ers. I saw many boats flying around all over and they all seemed to be running around catching nothing as well. I fished some great areas and varied my depths and technique. There must be a trick to getting some action but it has eluded me. Maybe I just really suck? Apparently so.
City: YubaTips: The only tip I have is to avoid what I know won't work. Drop shot rigs, weightless senkos, jigs, topwater and deep running cranks won't work. Then again, maybe I don't know how to fish any of those properly. Yes, I am sure that is it.

California Delta

Water Temp: 69 - 73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Ran the custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" be Lost Isle and the Turning Basin chasing schools of juniors. Some were 18" - 23", using jigging spoons, Rat-L-Traps, small swim baits, and the fly rod. Larger fish were 20 - 30 feet deep. Graphed schools towards the bottom and dropped the spoons down to them and then Bang!! Over 30 fish today. Also largemouth bass were in the mix, all were chasing schools of shad.
City: StocktonTips: Be patient the larger fish will come. Nows the time to have fun catching/release for the kids.
