      Report: Jones Valley road is going to be closed for about a month starting the 22nd of Nov while the forest service replaces a bunch of culverts burnt out during the fire. It is rumored that the road might be open on weekends but I wouldn't count on that.

      Report: in at Jones Valley at 0640, air temp 53, water at 101.7 ft down, saw s ome shad right on the ramp and picked up a worm rod and got a 1.82 on first cast with ah Rainbow Worms #99 ust as two more rigs pulled up, backed away from the ramp and followed the shad throwing a spook but it only got slapped, no bites with 4 blowups, took off for some water I fished last week with the brother in law but couldn't find any fish and no surface activity at all, and no wind. Left downstream in the pit and fished till 0930 without a single bite using the MGM hoo-dun-it when things turned on pretty good and caught 4 more and the size was much better between 2.2 and 2.58. The three biggest came on the smoke blue and a half ounce and were fairly shallow in 17 feet of water. The 2.2 came out of a cut in 47 ft of water on the #23. Things came to a halt at 1030 and I did see a guy stick a dandy fish on a spook that easily went 4-5 lbs. Saw him back at the ramp and he said he caught 4 others all on a chrome spook. Out at 12noon, air temp at 55 and heavy overcast just like the early start. Supposed to rain this evening.

      Report: Had one of the best days in a long time!

      Got late start 1000hrs and worked Mid Delta. Found a bunch of fish flipping with a new technique Randy Pringle taught me, just out of current on points. Then found some schools of Largemouth and had a ball. It was like catching schooled strippers. One 2-4lbr every other cast. These came on slow moving Rattle traps. By 1500hrs I had fifty to sixty 3lbrs. Yes you read that right. My thumbs where sore. Never caught so many Large Mouths the same size before.

      I have to say thank you to Randy Pringle for the new techniques. I learned this a few weeks ago on a trip to Clear Lake. I watched several guys go down a bunch of docks and catch nothing. He pulled into them and said "Just watch and do what I do" After a few minutes we had limits of 4-5lbrs, out of the water the boat before us had given up on. He also gave me the starting point for todays trip. All in all the most I have learned from any guide has been from Randy Pringle.

      Best way to learn it is to go out with Randy. I would screw it up attempting to write it down.

      Report: Ran around with my buddy to a few of our stiper holes and could find any keepers. Just catfish and undersized stipers today which were all released. We ran as far as brandon island and just could not find any big bites.

      Report: The water is way down and launching is from the South ramp. There is no dock and you have to pull up to the shore to get your partner. The ramp is pretty flat so you have to back up quite a bit. Now that's the bad news. The good news is the fish are very cooperative. Len and I caught about 12 solid keepers and several smaller fish. A mix of spots and blacks. They bit tubes, jigs and dropshot 4" worms. Remember to have fun and leave the fish behind!

      Report: I was fishing at the east end using a Rapal fat rap crank bait casting to shore. Doing that i caught 11 pound striper 4 bass each weighing around 4 to 6 pounds each then i went to the marina and used a beetle spinner and caught two bluegil each weighing at 1.7 pounds each.

      Tips: when casting cranks bait to shore let it drop not deep and reel in slow with a little of action. and for the blues just let it drop to bottom and reel in slow not to slow. !Good Luck!

      Report: fished jigs,worms and sonars best luck with sonars 14 to 25 feet weather was lite rain no wind caught 6 bass to 2.75 off water at 1:30PM.

      Tips: FISH GREENWENNIE GREEN AND RED FLAKE SMALL REEPER ON 1/4OZ DARTHEAD RIPPED UP OFF BOTTOM LIKE A SPOON AND 1/2OZ SONAR THE SAME. GOOD LUCK AND SEE YA ON THE WATER.

      Report: Got up to the lake yesterday AM for a few hours not having a clue what to expect. Went to some deep tailings first thing and basically never left. Launched about 7;40 and had a 16 lb limit by 8;30. Started with my old stand-by, the Pro-Gold red flake worm, and when I finally broke that jig-head off, switched to a Gitzit. It made no difference. The bite was on! Caught approx. 30 fish before I left @ 11 AM. Mostly smallies, several in the 3 lb range with an occasional LM. Best LM almost 4. Haven't fished a lot this time of year but after what happened Sun. I may have to rethink that tactic. There was one other Bass boat on the lake and a couple of trout trollers. Wind was calm, the sun was warm, the fish were biting. Gee, I wonder why I ever moved here from Maine.

      Report: Launched early in heavy fog from Orwood. Slow tedious run to woodward.
      Threw reaction baits at first and spooks, torpedos etc. with Nothing! Some action then off crankbaits, mostly craw patterns and one silver/green rattle trap but only boated one keeper.
      Swithched to plastics, brush hog and flukes with limited action. Best fish of the day was a 3lb 1oz on a Fluke.
      Last effort was jigs (every one in the box, all shapes & patterns) for a couple hours with two fish, both dinks.
      All fish were caught outside the weedlines, relatively deep. Bites were extremely subtle.

      Tips: SLOW, I mean SSSSLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWWWWW it down. Suspend alot.

      Report: Fishing was great!! I caught a limit With two bass weighing in at 14 pounds. Then two stripers weighing in at 56 pounds. Then one monster catfish weighing 37 pounds. I caught the bass off a 7 inch yum plastic, The stripers off a castaic swim bait, and the catfish of a gold fish.

      Tips: Fish about 25 feet off the shore. The morning bite is awesome for bass and a spectacular night bite for catfish, with all day striper bite.

      Report: Float tubed Lexington on Sunday from 11:30AM-2:30PM. Water was cold, extremely low, and muddy. Visibility was about a foot. The south end became a big mud flat with about two feet average depth.
      Forgot to bring a fish finder and had hard time finding deeper water. After spending 2 hours using carilina rig to prove the depth, finally found one drop off and imidiately caught one small fish (~1lb). Then moved north and caught a bigger fish (about 2lbs.) Both fished were caught on 4 inch plastic worm in watermellon color.

      Report: Fished from the shore. The bite was slow. Overcast skies, drop in temperature and a cool breeze set up the stage. The lake was pounded pretty good with a major tournament on the lake that day. Caught two nice keepers at the launch ramp on watermellon tube (carolina rig) and watermellon sinko (fly line)

      Tips: Fish carolina rig with a long leader, watch your line when flylining your sinkos. Good luck and good fishing!

      Report: Tough day on Saturday for me. 5 hours and 3 fish. Lost 3 other opportunities on bad hookset. Plastics on or close to the bottom was the catchers for me this day. Got Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday to redeem myself.

      Tips: Friend caught an 11 pounder over here so don't come here with weak gear. Always be prepared for da next world record. Ya never know.

      Report: Took the Champion out for its first shakedown cruise since having the engines lower unit replaced. Nothing cranking or drop shotting. The short time we fished did manage to boat two 2.5 lbers. split shotting. Caught one in the Hatch/Willow area & the other in Graveyard Creek area.

      Tips: Fish came out of rocky areas in 20-25' on green craw pattern 4" worm.

      Report: My partner and I fished the first ABA team tournament of 2005 at Perris yesterday. This was my first time fishing this lake. We were 27th out, and went directly to the north side of the island This area must hold fish as there were 10 boaters on this spot as we pulled up. We began to throw worms with no room to work our bait effectively. We did graph a few fish on this spot, and they were all tight lipped. No one was getting bit at this location for the hour we spent there. We proceeded to head to an area by the damn that was full of other boaters. This spot looked to be holding active fish, as a few boats were actually catching some keepers. They were all on the same worm pattern, split shotting very very slowly in a very precise spot. We fished around the outside of all the other boats in the hope of catching some fish that were moving up on this spot or moving out to deeper water. No luck! We then headed to the East Side of the lake when it opened up at 1:00 pm. There was a spot my partner recalled holding fish in the past and it looked to be wide open with no boats on it. We were keeping a close eye on the graph when there it was! Holding allot of fish. We threw out our marker buoy and started to catch active fish. We weeded threw some dinks on this spot but it also produced two keepers to weigh in for points. It was a tough day with no solid pattern and very unstable weather, high pressure with blue skies. At the weigh in, 1st place finisher managed to stick a fat 10+ Lbs kicker along with four other fish to lock up a win. Total winning weight was 18+Lbs, then the field dropped down to 12 Lbs and decreased gradually from there down. We placed 22nd. I look forward to taking on this highly pressured lake. If any other angler's read my post, please try to post your trip the next time you go out to this lake. I could use all the help I can get.

      Tips: Don't sit on an unproductive spot for too long. The saying 90% of the fish are in 10% of water held true on this trip to Perris.

      Report: Stopped to pay for boat launch and was told that the lake had turned over. By george it most certaintly did turn over becuase the trout were in @ 2feet of H2O. I got a late start and missed the early morning top water bite. Fished a pumpkin/Blk jig with a silver/silver grub trailer and caught 6 Bass in the weeds all 2-3 pounders. There were alot of trout fishermen with lots of boat traffic. Like D.L. stated it was difficult to say the least to manover through the traffic. It was a great day weather wise.

      Report: Caught 15 bass today. Many nice fish in the 2 to 3 pound range. Caught the larger fish on a popper early. Drop shotted the rest of the day. Worked the weed lines and points.

      Tips: Water is low. One side of the ramp is open. Have to work around the trout fisherman. Will be a zoo on weekends.

      Report: Tom Rhodes and I left Paridise Point at 6am, low tide and started down Disappointment on the outside of the weed lines. Tom got a 17" striper on a white/white spinner(his first striper) and my first bass was on a crank bait. In comming tide by 7am was slow, moving about 4 ft. Moving down just passed Hocker Cut finding balls of bait fish we cranked up four more (small largies). I worked inside the weed lines and not finding much or than 6-10 smallies. Tom got his first plastic worm bass, senko. The day was sunny and in the high 60's and very light winds. We ended up with 10 bass with two keepers.
