    Water Temp: 54-58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Over the holiday weekends, some Bass-n-Tubes buddies o mine went & had a TIME @ Naci. Water temps were in themid-to-high 50's (as opposed to the *40's* up here at the Delta!). One Saturday -- 12/19, I believe -- Joe Puente caught a7lb.-4oz. Largemouth (!!!); then John Lake went back at 'em on Jan. 2 & caught a 6-lb.+ Spot -- a potential lake record! Ithink Eric H. also caught a 3-lb.+ smallmouth that same day. Storm Wiggle Warts, dartheaded worms & Carolina rigs seemedto be the ticket. Joe said he also caught a couple on the new Castaic crawish. They also caught *numbers* o ish, say 15-20ish or more, per day, per isherman (well, a couple o the other guys ishing with them might not have caught *quite* that many, but more than what most guys have been catching up north here lately!). That couple-hour's drive south can sure be worth it --especially when you get rustrated ishing or 6-8 hours at a time getting SKUNKED around here, like I have lately (around SanJose)! Oh, well, I'll get my chance soon: Nacimiento is the irst stop on the BASS-N-TUBES 1999 TOURNAMENT TRAIL-- a two day venture, Feb. 27-28. The balance o the schedule, which we just inalized this week, is as ollows: March 28: LakeBerryessa /// April 25: Pinto Lake (Watsonville) /// May 16: Lake Sonoma /// June 26-27: Delta - Middle River (2 days) /// July25: Pinto Lake /// August 22: Delta - Middle River /// Sept. 19: Woodward Reservoir (Oakdale) /// Oct. 9-10: Clear Lake (2days) /// Nov. 7: Los Banos Creek Reservoir. I you're interested in joining us, we'd be more than happy to have you! We're always looking or new aces! Call John Lake (408-263-6174) or Je Smith (408-224-9113) or details, or e-mail me rom here. It's *cheap* ($25 per tournament), *highly competitive*, and a heck o a lot o un! Do it, man! You'll be HOOKED, I promise! In the meantime, we'll see you at the Sportsmen's Expo in San Mateo, Feb. 3-7. Rip a Lip!

Report: True , I have heard of bigger spots being caught, even saw one that had a pic in the paper. The problem with all them was that non were weighed on an "official" scale. As of before Casey's fish, the official lake record spotted bass was 5.29. That is real.

You can bet that with the rainy weather coming I will be throwing one of those "Tiny E" swimbaits from California Swimbabes.com :)

Some ish were up shallow on the points, but majority were staged deeper. Caught about 50 ish between the two o us, all on 221 Yamamoto Hula grubs(cinnamon/purple&black lake). With some nice days to bring the water temp up a ew more degrees it should break wide open or a reaction bite.

Report: Water is higher than last year. But, the lake is being lowered. The spots were biting hard on small baits and lighter line. There is a lot o bait in the coves and that made some o the ish hard to catch. Look or the 64 and above degree water or the whites. the majority o the whites were taken in los tables cove.
    City: san diego

Tips: slow down and use lighter line and smaller baits. Top baits were white rostertails and single tail grubs on small spinners,

Report: WIDE OPEN BITE !!!Went on an annual ishing trip and ound the white bass were more than willing to jump on our jerk baits. Main lake is stained and gets muddier as you go up river. The mouth o the narrows is really muddy but keep going and you will ind it starts to go back to stained and then clear water at about Grizzley Bend. The more aggressive whites are in the stained water rom Grizzley Bend up to the clear water. The best baits were the small suspending Husky jerks. Both chrome blue and chrome black although the chrome blue with orange belly seemed to draw a ew more strikes. I you go all the way to the head waters you can ind thousands o whites in the crystal clear water but they were spooky and hard to coax. Many were beaching their boats and walking arther up river. A ather and son were rippin lips with their ly rods and wet lies. On Sunday we caught about 70-80 whites and on Monday we only ished or whites rom 0700-1000 and had about 35. The remainder o the day we ished or spots and caught several on Brown Yamamoto Hula Grubs on a 1/4 ounce ootball head.
    City: Hanord

Tips: WHITES: Go up to Grizzley bend and start throwing small(3inch) Chrome blue husky jerks in the shade pockets early..7am to 9am then go back to the main lake and throw jigs or spotties to two pounds.

Report: This was'nt the best day I ever had at this lake because I consider this lake the easiest place to catch a ish.We caught about 30 ish on plastis on the points at about 30 and 20 eet. These ish were small, not even a pound and they all were spotted bass and one smallmouth. We let early to go home.

Tips: I you like small ish stay on 4"plastics because that"s all this lake is going to give you.
