Report: Beautiful Day out on the water, temps reached 90! lots of other boats both fishing and skiing. Boated 8 fish, thought I would have done better, site fished a few off docks, most fish were suspended under docks on the shady side, senkos and roboworms on a shaky head were key.
    City: SLO

Tips: If you can hit the right spot and are patient you can get the bed fish to bite, however I think Naci is starting towards the end of the spawn...good luck

Report: Well figured I would run down and check the lake out.Have not been down here in a long time.Well I got there about 6:30am and there was a club tourny going on.So I launched ahead of them but man was the fog thick just on the lake.So I started out at the ramp and threw cranbait's and top water, nothing.Well it started to lift and all the tourny guy's ran up lake so I fished the cove with the ski pylon's.Finally picked up four spot's on crankbait all 16" spot's.Then started thrownig a 6" motor oil worm Texas rigged.Picked up a few rat's so switched to casting out and working uphill and cought probably 20 more all spot's.Seem's the bite has picked up here but no White bass.Lake is not as full as I thought it would be and man the pleasure boat's came out around noon. This place is going to be down right deadly come Summer.
    City: Salinas

Tips: Go while you can, crankbait's in am switch to plastic's later and fish uphill.

Report: Fished a local club tournament Saturday and all I can say is wow, the lake is WAY down. Last time I was out there was in April and it has changed a lot. I am sure this has had an effect on the spotted bass, because they are sooo skinny and suspended for the most part. Caught 30+ fish with only a few in there being keepers, the good thing was the amount of large mouth being caught. Areas like Las Tablas and the river are VERY muddy. Main lake was clear. It took 13 and change to win and that included a 6 lb Large mouth.
    City: Paso Robles

Tips: Top water early on the main lake, then Drop shotting- wacky riggin worms. Watch out- lots of islands and points out in the middle.

Report: Gold Coast Bass tourney -- 6PM to Midnight --
A great turnout with 19 boatds on hand --
Pretty slim 'pickins' tonight. Water down considerably but will make a go of it. Marina shows a lot of muddy water so we elected to head towards the river and B-Rock. No takers at the B so headed farther back to the 5MPH zone. Got one keeper and maybe 9-10 11 to 12 inchers on a green lizard texas. Waited till almost dark and headed o the marina to finish off. Nothing -- Went to a cove to the left of the marina and found fish but only one keeper. All the rest were small fish.

Winners: L. Fernandez - 8 plus, 2nd S. Fernandez, Big fish 3.14 taken by J. Newman and Oakley
    City: SM

Tips: Most winning weights were in the river.

Report: A visit to Naci to check out the night fishing in preps for a meet this month. Results -- Ugly! Water is down, islands are showing and it's sorta BYOF bring your own fish night. Hit our spots with jigs and crabks while there was still ight with only 11 inchers coming to the boat. Started with black stuff when night arrived as well as cranks and jigs and every other thing we could muster for a bite. Was really shut off and a lot of dissappointment for the nights activities. Headed towards the marina around 10ish PM seeing several shad on the main lake run to the marina. BE CAREFUL! Islands are showing and very little bouys out to warn you so do the 5MPH all the way back to the marina at night as even the bouy light markers are in bad shape! WERE TALKIN MAYBE ONLY 1/2 WORKING!
    Oh well -- That's fishing
    City: Santa Maria

Tips: Warm at launch [94o with water temps at 78o] but it colled off a lot so might want to bring a warmy along for that little chill!

Report: Gold Coast Tourny today with a respectable entry for the 1/2 day tournement.
A warm morning launch at 5:30 and partner and I headed to our 1st stop. Guess the name of todays catch was 'DINK' as fish after fish hit the boat with no one over 12 inch's. Moved around looking for better weight and finally partner hit a keeper. Favorite spots went south today and we elected to start looking around rocky points. Located a good spot around 10:30 and we went from 1 keeper to five in a matter of a 1hour or less but all were like snakes! Long but thin, but we started culling the three smaller ones in the hole.

In the scale with 6 and change and our big fish that was over 17 only capped under 2 pounds! Wow. These guys need big time food to put on weight. Prett much the same story as several came in with limits but all in the 6 to 7 range. Winners: F Fernadez and partner in with 8 plus and big fish at 2.9, 2nd Tomey and Tomey in with 7+ and 3rd Johnson and Westbrook in with 7+
    City: Santa Maria

Tips: Winners said most of the bag was on black cranks and jerks?? I suppose. Partner and I hit on jigs and beavers and only a few cranks fish. No top water at all so it went back in the box, unused. Next stop --- LOPEZ OPEN ON 21 JULY! A great outing for all with loads of raffle
    giveaways and good payout!

Report: ABA tourney today with 10 boats on hand and a launch at 5:30AM. Early morning chill in the air but not much fog comparied to last Saturday. Temperatures down considerably from a week gone by but the expected and wanted wind never showed much. Hit our 1st stop with cranks and immediately noticed a fall in size and weight. I hung the 1st keeper but it was small and not a promising outlook for the day. Worked the walls and grassy areas for a few more but still, all the fish were small. Started culling at 7:15 but by 9, the bite went South!. Hit a few more of our stops with nothing but smaller fish. Switched out from the cranks to soft spyder gub bait and oicked up a few more to cull out. Headed back to the marina area looking ofor bigger cull but didn't pay off. Winners in with around 9 pounds and a black bass in at 2 and change took home all the big fish cash and the surplus big fish option for a kwel $900.
    City: Santa Maria

Tips: Lots of small fish today and 7 pounds shy of last weeks good bag which would have won this neet hands down! OH WELL -- THATS WHY THE CALL IT FISHING ------

Report: Went fishing with with my friend Fred and he gave
me a lesson on catching Spotted Bass on Nacimiento.
I picked up only two using a watermelon with black flakes tube. He caught 10 all on a Texas Rigged black 4" twirl tailed worm. All fish were caught in the narrows, tight up against the rock walls.
Later in the day he caught a 2+# yellow catfish on the same worm.
    City: Moneterey

Tips: Tx rigged black 4" worms were the ticket today.

    Water Temp: 70o

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Guess I had better make a report since the last one for Naci was in May...
Partner and I took the drive to check out Naci for the upcoming ABA. Lake is now at 50% and many of the usual structures are hig and dry and fishing is not as ez as before. A cool morning with fog on the water until maybe 7 but who cares as it sure assisted in getting a nice bunch of keepers and if this had been a tourney, we would have been culling by 7:45.. Partner hit the 1st keeper then a second then a third on three casts! Super fun time with some decent 2+ pound spots and a really nice 2-1/2 3 Large as a bonus. Hit some more areas and pulled a decent spot on a jig of an empty boat dock and later a choice 2-3 pound smallie to make a good 8 fish 16 to 17 inchers. Large was long but a small girth as was the smallie. A good fish but still needing a few more tasty shad to fill her out in a place where 'fat' is better!

Not too many bassers out today nor a huge amount of other party goers but the wave action was harse at times and it gave us a bucking bronco ride across the main lake. Location was the key today as the morning showed great promise with the afternoon at full sun not so great but we managed a few fishbut nothing like the morning. Sun was up in full force with the temps in the high 80's low 90's and bikini wheather was the call,. Yehaw!
    City: Santa Maria

Tips: Lots of good spot still holding fish so with the water low, still make a stop at your favorite spot to checkout the conditions. Watch for submerged islands in some coves as the water being down so much, real estate is showing.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: the bite was decent, but not great at all by Naci standards. numbers of smaller fish and plastics, but nothing over 2lbs. the fish I caught were on steeper rock. some of the usual flats edges I like yielded nothing. lots of traffic was on the lake, including a couple of tournaments. FYI to anyone reading this who is/knows someone in the club that had their weigh-in down next to the "old ramp" at the water's edge - it isn't cool to throw bass through the air when letting them go. I saw at least 3 people literally tossing bass 15-20 feet through the air from the water's egde. Not only does this make us bass fishermen look bad to the average joe, but it's just bad for the fish's health. after coming out of a livewell, being weighed, and put in a bag you gotta try harder do the right thing for the fish. walk over to the deeper water (20 feet away dummy) and let 'em go. don't ever let anyone in your club get away with this...
    City: SB

Tips: keep moving around - spots don't like to sit around in one area.

    Water Temp: 62 to 64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went fishing on 3/22 and 3/23. On 3/22 got a late start but still managed to catch 45 fish between the 2 of us on rip baits and senco's on rocky points. On 3/23 everything changed. Could only catch fish on rocky boulders with shade. Caught about 100 fish between the 2 of us with about 10 to 2 1/2 pounds. Fun day most fish were 1 to 1 1/2 pounds no size but good quantity.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Don't expect what was working one day to work 2 day's in a row.

Report: Best day I've here in a loooonnng time. 40+fish day. Lots between 2-4 #'s. 4" oxblood was the ticket. We trolled for a few white bass as well.

Tips: Split shot about 18" above your bait and fish slow. They were just picking it up not hitting hard.

    Water Temp: 54-57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished here Feb 19-20. Had to work for fish. Caught about 14 spots each day, all between 12-16 inches. Very little success in clear water with dartheads. Found a decent jig bite at the mouth of the river and in Las Tablas where water was stained. Water in stained/dirty areas was 2-3 degs warmer too. I think fish are still a little spooked in such clear water near the ramp. I did find a few coves in the afternoon with 57-59 deg water so it will turn on soon. Saw only a couple whites caught. No reaction bite.
    City: Visalia

Tips: Brown or brown/purple jigs and dirtier water

Report: Caught 8 small spotted bass. From 0800 to 1400.
Wx was sunny, clear and a little breezy.
Fished the northern side of the back half (western) part of the main lake, rocky points and around the small islands. Fish were scattered.
Caught 1 on a watermellon tube, 2 on a Tx rigged red 6" Roboworm, the rest on a Carolina rigged 6" black worm with silver flecks. Fish were caught between 10-30' deep.

    Water Temp: 49-50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Water was cold and pretty clear compared to the last few years. Tough bite for my partner and I. We did not get a fish in the boat until 11am. We caught all of the fish on six inch plastic on lead heads in about 25 feet of water. All in all about 15-20 fish. Biggest was alittle over 2 lbs. No reaction what so ever.
    City: Hanford

Tips: Caught fish on the main lake and in the narrows. Once you find the fish they are bunched up. Throw plastic and fish SLOW!
