Oh, and while you're at it, any tips on where on can ind them crappie in Castaic?

Castaic Lake
-
Water Temp: 56
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Here we go or a irst day o the season.....The water is down somewhat or this time o the year, but the visiblty is very good. The main enemy o a good day on the water is the #@%*#!! wind! You will need to be on the water early now to avoid this problem. I got out there very late (11:00am) and by then it was howling! The air pressure was dropping and continued to do so(28.50 to 28.30) which just shut o the bite entirely. The wind inely laid down at 4:00pm and things looked good but I had to leave then. The only saving grace was the stocked trout were on the bite, we nailed 8 ish and lost some as well.
City: Los AngelesTips: When things are as slow as this sometimes having ANY ish pull on your line is better than NO ish! The stocked trout are now back in small cove areas trying to hide rom the big ish who like to eat them. Small kastmasters and mini-jigs w/a split shot will get you bit i your hurting or a bite o some type! Good luck!

Water Temp: 51.5 - 52.4
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Took my son (13 years old)down or a couple o days spot ishing ater a club tournament the week beore We ished 2/18 & 2/19 and had no problem catching a couple o limits each both days. I was primarily drop shotting but also caught ish split shotting. It was un trying to teach him the drop shotting technique. He'd get rustrated missing sets so had to set him up "mojo" split shotting or him to catch ish. Bite was very ast irst 1 hour to 1.5 hours each morning. Both days, we each had limits within one hour. On Tuesday, I made 5 casts and put three ish in the boat in less than 20 minutes. As the day wore on lock jaw set in. The higher the sun got the more diicult it got to get a pickup. By 1-2pm the pickups were more than 1 hour between pickups. All ish were cookie cutter bass in the 1lb to 1.5lb range. Weather and water were unbelieveble! Glass or 1 mile o water. On Tuesday, we were 1 o three boats on the lake or the irst 3 hours o the day. What more can you ask or!
City: SunnyvaleTips: All ish were caught on 4 inch plastic worms. Only 1 color was really eective (I'd tell you the color and make but I've been to 6 stores and they are always sold out and I'm having a hard enough time getting replacements). Once I get a couple o dozen bags I'll update a report. I want to get them or next months Orville tournament.

Water Temp: 45-50
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The Bass all went to Arizona or the winter. They will be back when the water temp reaches about 55.There is a good amount o snow up in the high contry so the run o will be substantial. The cowbird issue was over turned by the legal system, so there is no longer a 335,000 acre t. limit. The lake is about 6 t.lower than it was at this time last year. Rocky point is not producing the ish it did last year because o waterdepth. A 16+ was caught on the big trout in Jan. It is getting mounted. It ate the bait and the bait could not beremoved. The lake is healthy again ater the summer die o. The die o did not eect the big bass. Mostly crappieand squaw ish. Two 7lb. sisters caught on jigs 2/16.
City: KernvilleTips: White cranks deep. Watermellon red lake dropshot in 36+. The big trout on hot sunny aternoons. Don't orget jig & pig.
