Emigrant Lake
-
Water Temp: 59-66
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Nice to see some others reporting on this lake. Thankyou. Jack and I in at 5;30. Down the cemetary side hunting big smallies. Lake was down a little already. Lots of dinks hitting plastics but nothing on the crank at our first stop. Second spot I hit a 3.25 sm on a crank. That would be the only good crank fish of the day. A few casts later picked up a 2.25 sm on a tube. Those would be the only good fish of this trip. We wound up catching a mixed bag of dink sm and lm mostly on plastics and cranks with a couple on spinnerbaits. About thirty fish total. Alot of fun but the best five would probably have gone only 11-12lb.
City: medfordTips: Full moon, pre-front, no wind at all, spawning temps for both species. Night fishing may have been better but I dont think they will let us do that anymore unless you pay for a camp sight. I think all the decent fish are in a spawn mode and just not feeding that well right now. Maybe I suck and am just making excuses for myself??? Better days yet to come...

Report: Got on the water about 11:00 am. Headed up the Emigrant arm to the road bed on the north facing bank. Caught a bunch of rats on worms and tubes. Emigrant Lake
-
Water Temp: 61-63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Had a good day of fishing finally at Emigrant on 5-10. Started early in the A.M. throwing spinnerbaits and zoom frogs top water style. Spinnerbait produced the majority of the fish throughout the day, but the frog was getting plenty of "dink" blowups. After 10am. I switched to a ringer worm, caught quite a few fish on that as well. Couldn't get the crankbait bite or the rattle trap working. best 5 was close to 12lbs.

Water Temp: less than 60!
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished a small cove today at Cottage Grove with a bobber and crawlers. My 3 yr. old got her first fish ever- actually she caught 4. A 4", a 5", a 6" and then another 4" bluegill. I don't know who was more excited- Daddy or the kid. She wanted to do it all.Pick out the right crawler, take the hook out with the pliers and of course take a picture of Dad holding up one of her fish (At least it was the bigger one!). I'm pretty sure she's hooked on fishing now. She almost got her first bass today too. A 2 pounder followed her 1 1/2" black grub all the way up until he saw us.
I've been going to Dorena or Cottage Grove about every other morning on my way to work and I am amazed at the amount of fish I'm not catching. I'm seeing a few here and there and getting a few senko and creature bait bites but I guess until we get a week of good hot weather the spawn/sight fishing deal is just not happening. My daughter will go nuts when she sees a nice 5 pounder mouth but not eat her bait!! Happy fishing and take some kid fishing- you'll be glad you did. Next week we're taking the boat out.

Water Temp: 58-68
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I heard that medford bass had a tournament hear the weekend of the 22nd and not one report. Cant say I blame em`, from what I heard I would have kept my mouth shut to. Maybe even denied I was there...Thinkin` they were one week to early..As usaul, cant be to specific as this lake is just to small. So Jack and I started off on the right side of the lake in our usual haunts. The water is as high as it can get in the lake and still pretty stained. Was tough to pinpoint our off shore spot but once we did...WOW...it was on. Got 4.8sm and three more well over 3lb. Moved around a bit for two more sm over 3. Headed into the willows for a 4lb lm on a windblown bank with a white spinnerbait. Caught many dink sm and a handfull of 1-2lb largemouth as well. It was a total reaction bite and the fish were crushing the baits. Craks and spinnerbaits ruled. Best five went 17-18lb. Great spring day on lake rip-a-hog. Oh ya, Jack got one sm about 3lb and lost one at the boat. Not bad for him....LOL Cant resist a good ribbing when I get the chance, fall will be here before you know it and he WILL pay me back for sure.
City: medfordTips: Dont let yourself fall into a habbit of going to the same old spots throwing the same thing and expect the same results as last year. Easy mistake to make on our local lakes. Yes, spawn water is spawn water every year but presentation is everything and you cant choose that until you are at the lake. I normaly would have thrown plastics but with the wind and stained water I knew I had to get more agressive and it paid.

Report: Pretty cool Selmac has its own page. Lets try and use it. This is not really a report, more of a question to any locals willing to share some info. Air temp, water temp, water color, any fish being caught? I would like to get up there soon and would like to know what to expect. I WILL post a report if and when I get a chance to get up there.
City: CA.Tips: use this page it works.
