Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: In my last report, had the wrong water clarity. All of the fish caught in "stained" water. Fished some "muddy" water areas, but did not catch any fish.

      Water Temp: 50-52

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water at 10:30 and off at 4pm. I got one bite all day and lost that fish before I could see it. But I talked to a few other boats and they said they caught 1 or 2 fish deep. The lake was down at least 3 feet from normal level.
      City: central point

      Tips: I wish I knew!

    • By

      Water Temp: 46

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Had to get the boat out today on the river since it was so nice. First time out since October. Water was stained to muddy and 46 degrees. Boat ran great, as Yamahas usually do. My dad and I fished for three hours and had 6 bites, landing 5. Three were smallmouths from 2-2.25 pounds. The two others were largemouths, one 2 pounds and one 4 pounder, which was caught by my dad. Three were caught on jigs and two were caught on a zipper grub. All the fish were very healthy and appeared to have weathered the high water well.

Tips: Drag it slow...very slow. But when they bit there was no doubt about it.

      Water Temp: 45-47

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out for 2 hours with no luck, but I wanted to thank western bass for coming through on their promise to add lakes like lost creek. Southern Oregon fishermen including myself appreciate the improvements to this site.
      City: central point, oregon

Tips: I graphed fish holding on the bottom from 25-50 ft. deep. They were not schooled up at all, I would graph 1 or 2 in an area and that was it.

Water Temp: low 50 maybe 40

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: arived at the lake about 8am, sunny with clear skies but very windy. started off with a crank pattern focusing on points with no fish. 9am fishing a section with big boulders my partner pulls a 3lb largemouth on a crank. very light colored and cold reminds you that it must be winter and these fish are deep. took off from there and fish a few more key spots with a few hits but no fish. wind finaly started dying off so before we left we stopped at the spot where we caught the only fish. pulled 3 more largemouth out of the same hole dropshoting 4in. worm from 1-2lbs and half a dozen more hits.
      City: central point

Tips: fishing a fast reaction bait like a crank sould catch some first thing but after that focus on finding the fish with your graph and get over them and dropshot 20-40ft was the area we seen them in. slow your presentation down watch your line and be patient.

      Water Temp: 50-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Nothing like snow to for the confidence you need this time of year! At least the gate was open at 7;15 this weekend. It was snowing when we launched but not sticking. Started off fishing in the area of the dam to the left. Jack stuck a good`n in the first 15min on a jig and pork. Didnt stick her good enough though as it came un buttoned about ten feet from the boat. On these cold mornings it is sometimes harder to hold the rod on a hookset than to get a fish to bite! Did get about four more strikes in the area of this dam. Fish seemed to be short striking, not real agressive like two weeks ago. Moved down the bank to a couple of our ol` stand by fall, winter spots. Found some biters off a sheer bluff in about 20-25 feet of water. Once again they were short striking, couldnt get a hook set. Jack was sticking with his J&P combo and I was mixing it up with a crankbait and jig n pig. Crank wasnt getting hit at all. Fish in this area were to deep to get down to with the crank. Moved across the lake to a slower taper bank to do some crankin.I got crushed right away bay a 2.75 bronzback and that was it for the crank bite. Got no jig bites on in this area so moved back to the deep bluff to try and salvage the day. Jack did manage to hook one 1.5 largemouth out of about four strikes. Not sure what we could have done to get these fish to commit to the bite but at least they were trying to co-operate. Our bad I guess. Of the lake at 12;30 with only the two.
      City: Medford

Tips: If I had more confidence with plasticks in the winter I would have probably done some drop shotting right on top of the fish we found on the bluff. I just dont like drop shotting our spooning or any type of veticl presentation for that matter. Bet it would have paid off had we tried it.

      Water Temp: 53-55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Dont know if anyone is still reading this but to all my old buddies from the Rouge Valley Bassmasters I`m givin` a big shout out. As you all know they dont open the gate till 7:30 if your lucky so we tend to miss the best bite, however it wasnt a bad day on the lake. Could have used a lite breeze for some cover but anyway....Jack and I caught 11 fish total. Big one was 3.9lb largemouth and a 2.75lb smally both on crank baits. I caught them both. Jacks big one was about 2.25 lg mouth. He`s kind of a chump.LOL We were surprised not to have gotten into some larger fish but were pleasantly surprised at the number of 2lb-der`s. Tells me that the lake and the future is healthy. I wont give up to much info as the lake is very small and I`m a little selfish but I will put in a good tip for you hog hunters.
      City: Medford

Tips: Prime time for gargantuane bucketmouth`s is right now! Large fish dont like to waste energy. Find an area that transitions from feeding area to resting area with as little movemant as possible and your odds of figuring out lake rip-a-hog`s late fall secrtets will increase a great deal. Those of you who know who the caracters in this article wont argue that we have taken our share of pigs from this lake, especially in the fall.

Report: hey guys, its time for the slow months of fishing and its the worst even worse if you got a new boat like myself. Keep the spirits up and try to battle the weather for a fish or two. tight lines and good fishing.
      City: creswell

Tips: Hey lets try to get the reports up this next year and get the information out there about Oregon bass fishing and how awsome it really is because I for one like to know how everone else is doing on the water.
