Report: Even though I wasn't planning to, I ished the BASS Federation tournament Sunday. At blasto I noticed the water was calm over by the dam so I started ishing at the parking lot and caught several 1-2 lb. spots when I noticed ish breaking over deeper water. I picked up a top water plug, let it sit ater it hit the water and it was attacked by a 3lb. spot. I caught several more working over 30t. and then ound a school o ish on a rockpile in 35t. Useing a Yamamoto grub on a 3/16 darthead, dropshotting a morningdawn lahtrix and a morningdawn Duh spoon I ended up catching a limit o spots over 15lbs. I caught a lot o smaller ish shallow at Beals Point and Moony Ridge and saw huge numbers o ish milling around in the trees. I caught ish here too, but nothing big enough to help me, so I went back to deep water and culled a couple more.

Report: A say good-by day to my boat and 2K or a month or a powerhead overhaul. Hole in #6 piston. Conditions were perect or a trolling motor only outing. Wind blew down the lake early and changed direction and blew me back to the launch in the aternoon. Between shits it died or a while and I identiied several beds and a variety o spawning activity. Some had a pair locked on, others a single roaming ish, others a locked ish. All were over 6 eet deep or more, and I backed o and blind casted Senkos or about 10-12lbs. Nothing over 3, but several plump 2lb spottys. Kinda un- I kept switching rom Yamamoto Sr's bait to junior's and the contest was a draw. I think Sr wins cause his baits are cheaper per each. Went in shore and looked or largemouth beds, but none ound today. Ripped a couple little bucks early. Wanted to stop by the Feds oice there at the dam, but I used all the time or ishing. Anyone know i they are going to start the dam improvements project? Break me o an e-mail. I'm pretty conservative, (Swimbait thinks I still have a Reagan shrine somewhere in the house), but we got to build Auburn. The project on Folsom is a bandaid at best.
      City: El Dorado Hills

Tips: The spawn is on. Couldn't look around much, so don't know where the big largemouth are.

Report: Camped in Spanish Flat and fished saturday and sunday. This was my first time on the lake so I was just learning. I fished along the west side of Wragg Canyon and saw smallies up in the shallows in the coves. All were dinks. Site fished a couple and picked up a couple around 10 feet deep and lost one at the boat. Went back out in the evening and fished on the west side of big island where I picked up one spot and my partner 2 smallies. Picked up one smallie on east side of small island. Sunday mornin went to Wragg and ran into a lot of company. Found an empty cove and my partner and I caught 2 smallies. Headed up to big island where I boated one large mouth. Headed to the ramp at 11:30 to pack up.
      City: Isleton

Tips: I really had no clue what I was doing. I was split shoting 4" special FX ROBOWORMS in Aaron's R&B flk and Fuschia Thunder both days. Partner threw 4" witches tea worms and 4" cotton candy lizards on a T-rig. Im really not sure where the fish are. I think the weather has spread them out a little. Im novice, dont ask me, im just lettin you know what I saw. Tight Lines Everyone.

Report: I ished with Bob Thein out o Bob Thein's Guide Service. We ished 3 days this past week, 4/16 thru 4/18. Although we threw most o the artiicials in the tackle box, the vast majority o the ish we caught came on large shiner minnows ished about 6 eet or so under a loat. Approximately 1 PM the irst day we had 5 ish that would average about 3 1/2 lbs in the boat when we moved up on a spot that Bob said held ish. The irst lob cast with a minnow brought a 5.8 lb largemouth into the boat. Four more casts gave me our more ish, the largest right at 8 lbs. We inished the day with 18 ish, with our largest ive going approximately 35 lbs.On 4/17 we started on that spot and caught 6 ish, again with the largest over 7 lbs. A ew hundred yards rom that spot I caught the largest ish o the trip, a 9.1 pound beauty. We ished under docks, skipping the senkos underneath and did catch 3 ish that way on Wednesday, but again the majority o the ish were taken on shiners. We inished with 16 or the day.The third day started with calm, clear weather and very ew bites. We did manage to scratch up 4 on shiners early on, but ishing was slow. We moved a couple o times, but stayed mostly in the Lakeport area o the lake. About the time the squall hit us, I hooked up on a nice ish, about 4.5 lbs., giving us 5 or the day. We moved approximately 200 yards south down the bank and ound them stacked o o a cut. We ended that day with 14 ish. The largest was a 6.4.All in all one o the most memorable ishing trips I've ever been on

Report: I took a client to Oroville Saturday and we ished with the "olks" - lots o bass boats. I sort o started this client rom the "beginning" in past trips, and he has landed bass up to 5 1/4 pounds at Clear Lake. We decided to see i he was ready or ishing deeper water and landing some spotted bass on light tackle. We ished the south ork and did ok - not great. He landed 10, including one over the slot, and I landed 13 with 3 over. Nothing over 2.2 pounds. As the month wears on, the bass are getting smaller as the spawning cycle is nearly over or the spots. We caught them on jigs, Berkley Pulse Worms, and #194 5" Senkos (biggest bass caught on that bait). The Senko bite wasn't nearly as good as last trip. We started at 10 AM and inished at 6:30 PM. We tried to catch the late aternoon bite and it was pretty good - but not as good as I thought it would be.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I have ound some good schools o spots that have been holding on some walls. Other walls that look just as good don't seem to have many ish. Ones near a eeder creek - even i the water is no longer running, seem to be holding more ish. Sort o a post-spawn thing I guess.
