Report: Bass Busters o Santa Clara County had their March Tournamentyesterday March 9, 2002 at Nacimiento. The Day started out niceand clear with no og in site, air temperature was about 30 degrees. We had about 13 boats to start the day with most boats coming in with some nice ish, about hal the boats with ull limits. This was a Draw tournamentwith individual weight. About the ishing! The ishings was great irstthing in the morning. I you tied on some type o reaction baityou would have pulled your best ish within the irst hour o the day.Ater that it was time to slow down. It seems that ater that irsthour i you hadn't switched to a Drop Shop, Split Shot, Jig, or worm you it was going to be tough to pull any more ish. The better size ish came earlyon the reaction baits and later on the Finess baits came plenty o dinks with the occational keeper. The club overall had a great tournament withbeuitul weather and a good day o ishing. It's too bad Nacimiento doesn't havea little better size quality ish. Big ish or the tournament was 2.82 lbs.Good Luck, Good Fishing
      City: San Jose

Tips: Reaction Baits that did well:Spinner Bait, Crank Bait, and Rip BaitsFiness Baits:Drop Shots, Jigs, and Split shots.

Report: Skunked Again! Getting rustrated and my kid's losing aith in me! I just can't seem to get bit! Out Sunday - on the water @ 2:00p.m. Beautiul warm day!!! Tried Sherman Lake/Sherman Island area again due to my late start. Water getting more clear back in the side sloughs. Fished last part o outgoing tide to beginning o incoming. Fished tule banks, weedlines, points, lats, slopes and drop-os to 15'. Looked or wood, hyacinths, etc. Slight current. To me, it looked like good ish cover. But what do I know? Not even a strike. Tried Senko's, brown jig n' pig, white spinner/gold blade, lizzards both t-rig and C-rig, zipper worms rigged same and as a jig trailer, rattle traps, "pointers". Heck, my son even threw a buzz bait! Someday we've got to get lucky!

Tips: Any and all are welcome! When I catch somethin' you'll be the irst to hear about it!

Report: started trolling 7:30 am rom the boat ramp towards the loating john, no hits. Lake was lat all day little to no wind. Air temp was up r a change. Pulling lashers and 2 & 3 inch iretiger rapalas 6 eet deep...caught 3 stockers and had 3-4 more hitsbetween loating john and second ence line. Fish were caught between 8:30 - 10:00. Ran back towards the dam and caught another stocker by the handicap ramp, missed one more. Circled around the dam and towards the ences again and caught one o the back across rom the boat ramp. Them caught two more stockers between the John and 1st ence on a hot pink APEX. O the lake by 2:00. looks like the warm weather and ull lake got the bite going
      City: modesto

Tips: Firetiger continues to be the stand by. Was encouraged by the APEX bites just ater noon. A small pinch o power bait or worm aded to the lure seems to help.

Report: Headed out o Paradise with my buddy John Kort at 7:30 and went straight to Mildred. We hoped to get on a some ish in an area that has always been good to us during the cold months. We are getting ready or the upcoming tournys and igured we better ind some good winter spots in case the weather decides to be nasty in a ew weeks. We tried a good unnel area where the bass usually school up to eed and couldn't get anything except 3 schoolie striper on lipless cranks. We then went to a very dependable tule wall that has a 4 oot shel and then alls o into 10 eet o water. We picked up a 3 and 2 pounder right away on dark plastics and got out o there. We then nailed a 2 1/2 pounder about 20 minutes later on a rip rap bank in 10 eet o water about 300 yards away. We decided to make a run to Potato Slough to see i we could get on some ish in the looded timber. We got on ish all right, the only problem is they were all striper. I know this is a bass site, but the striper bite we were on was incredible. We hit 18 striper to 10 pounds in 1 hour in a 100 yard radius. We really wanted to hunt or some blackies, but that striper bite was just too much un. Like I always say, " i it pulls, it's good". Finished the day at 3:30 with 3 blacks to 3 pounds and 21 striper (18 keepers) to 10 pounds. A great ishing day with even greater weather to ish in.
      City: roseville

Tips: Noticed that our bass came in 8-10 eet o water. That is pretty typical or February in the Mildred area.

Report: Mac and I ished the Hook tournament. Headed straight or Taylor. Used Jigs and Senkos. Caught my irst Jig ish, in about 4' o water, and as the water warmed up got more action on the Senkos. Weighed in a 7 ish limit or 16.37lbs, and took 10th place. Sad part was we lost as many ish as we caught, it seems like the ish were biting short, I ixed that by moving the senko up a little urther on the hook.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Fish the eadge o the tulles, near deeper water.

Report: Fished the HOOK today. Took 13 out o 51 boats. The bite was a slow one, but was able to hit 4 or 16.?? with a 5.99 lb kicker. hal took jigs and the others hit 6" CO worm. Had to drag the worm slow and take our time covering the area. Bass picked it up very slow and moved o with it. Oh Fred, Get some sleep next time i you wont to keep up with the big boys.
      City: Fremont

Tips: Take your time. The water is warming and the emales are starting to move. When it hit 50-54 look out, blade bite is on.

      City: Elk Grove

Tips: Fish the warmer waters. Drop shot 1/2 ounce on 8 lbs line.30 + eet.

Report: ishing was tough with bites ew and ar between. the ish that we caught were all healthy, though. caught 6 ish between me and my partner. most o the ish wanted slow dragged plastics and the bite was very subtle -- so subtle that we probably had some bites and didn't even realize it. set the hook on that "rubbery" line, you may be surprised. jigs and split-shotting seem to be the ticket right now. (although six ish really isn't much to brag about). small inormal tourney on the 16th, I'll let you know how it goes....

Report: Started at 11:00 and ished until 6:00 pm, started deep with jigs ( henderson Point ) and then went to Lakeport area and pitched tules and wood, 2-5 eet. Then Rattlesnake or a couple o humps, and then to sea breeze . Great day on the water but skunked, did not get bit . A couple o boats near Lublow point, another hump were having some luck, looked like dropshotting. Another boat near red bud had a nice stringer with minnows. Which reminds me to thank however deleted the earlier entrys on minnows. Whoever wrote those would probably have no problem sight ishing a spawning emale. I personally like the hunt o artiicial baits, color, depth, presentation, ect. I also have no problem with people ishing with live bait and to my knowledge neither does ish and game. I do know o several areas where bass season is closed to allow or the bedding emales to not be disturbed. We should think about that beore we start throwing stones at other people.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: NOT what I did today, nothing on a swim bait, jig, brush -hog,blades, although I ished 90% with the jig and pork. The lake looks great, it elt asleep.

Report: The weather was horrible. Chris and I ished the east side o the lake. Fishing the trees, I caught a small spot. One that Chris missed twice. Ha ha. We caught 2 more each on the eastern shoreline, o the rocks. Split shot was the trick or us. Not many ish, but they sure looked healthy. The weather inally won. Ater ishing the arm and not getting a bite that was it. We'll try it again next weekend.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Split shot worm, ox blood and witches-T. Slow, slow slow.
