Report: Making my normal Socal journey Irvine was beutiul on this day around 70 degrees. No ish on my customized loat-cat. Used my normal 6"rebel but no luck. I've heard o big ish coming rom this place but all I got was 4 hours o sunshine. I imagine that this lake must have great topography below the surace because visibly it is just a muddy bowl. Water temp was a guess since I went to Corona the next day with a sonar.
      City: vallejo

Tips: I you want to catch nothing, go to Corona this time o the year, much prettier.

      Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well on January 19th the Bass Classics o Santa Clara Valley had there coldest tournament in alot o years with 28 degees in the morning and rost so thick you could make snow cones scaping the windshields. There were only 15 anglers willing to bear the cold and only 12 ish were caught by 7 o them. The winning weight was 9.27 lbs by Ray Garcia. He said they ound ish in 10 eet o water acting like spawners and with a long cast with a watermelon senko he caught the 5.27 lb big ish ater it wrapped itsel three times around the tree he had to dunk his shoulders in the water to net the ish. Then later he also caught the male 3.80 lb ish or the 2nd big ish o the tournament in the same tree. Rob Staben had three ish or 9.20 lbs and he also had ish near wood in 10-15 t on summer moss colored reapers and a dart head. Dieter had two ish or third on his usual avorite bait or San Antonio a pig and jig blk with brn pork in 15-20 t.There were some others using pig and jigs near wood in 10-15 t. Mike B nailed a keeper smallmouth drop shotting in 45 t on a tree also.
      City: remont

Tips: Most ish this weekend came rom wood or trees in 10-15 t the bite was very slow and tough pig and jigs usually the best this time o year but Ray proved its not to early to throw senkos.

The Rainbow 99,286 &292 are not MGM colors, they are made by Rainbow worms in Newark,Ca phone number (510)742-1060, ask or Barry. Ryan, you should start with a 1/4 oz or your split shot, MGM has everything you need, I note that Phil's sells the Rainbow worms locally and has the 99 in stock, I don't know i Phils has the 286 or 292 in stock or not. sosrry or any inconvenience. Report: Would anyone be interested in a trade? I'm on to a school o 10" Spots and would gladly give up it's location or (1) 2lb. ish. 11a.m.-4p.m. North. 10'-15'o water. 1/2 oz. brown jigs.
      City: Auburn

Tips: Tried something dierent. On clay/mud banks I set up shallow and cast deep. Banged the jig into all those old waterline ledges and ished way aster than should be reasonable given the temperature. No doubt about every hit. Unorthodox, yes. But i you're gonna reeze you might as well be catching ish.

      Water Temp: 49

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out on the 19th and ished on what had to be the coldest I have ever been on the delta. We pulled up to the Paradise ramp in pea soup og and reezing temps. The entire boat was iced over and John and I were thinking 'what the hell are we doing out here'? We putted out to whites at about 15 mph and were inally ishing at 7:45 or so. We were ocusing on Stripers mostly, as we had been doing pretty good recently on the linesides. It was very hard to ish as cold as it was, but around 9am John hit a real nice ish on a crank bait. Around 15 minutes later, he landed a 22.6 pound striper. Beautiul ish. We then decided to throw or some bass to see i we could establish the same winter pattern we usually get on. John threw a black senko and I threw dark plastics up around structure in shallow water. We started hitting bass up to 4 pounds immediately and were going to leave the area, so we didn't drain the pattern, but the weather took a serious turn or the worse. The wind picked up rom 5 mph to 15-20 mph and this made or some serious windchill. We ished or striper or another 15 minutes and were o the water by noon. We were hoping to get down to Mildred Island, because we have some pretty good winter bass and striper spots down there, but there was no way we were going to make a long run in that kind o weather. A pretty good day or the nasty conditions we aced.
      City: roseville

Tips: As I stated in earlier reports, structure is the key. The ish are not going to roam too much when the water gets into the 40's, but they are still looking to eat. Once again, all o our bass came in 3 eet o water or less. Try to ind water with at least a oot o visibility. The bites were not subtle, as the ish really jumped on the baits. Last, please let the smack talk die now. Everyone has made their point and it's kind o getting old. Let's just ocus on writing some good reports. Good luck and be sae.

      Water Temp: 48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: real cold this am so I didn't get out until noon, in at jones valley, lake up to 39.5, airtemp going in was 44, 14 rigs in the gravel at the ramp, won't be long and we wil be making the long walk up to the top, went back into swamphollow at the back o jones valley and poked around a bit but the straw debris made me leave, they put a lot o straw down over new plants put in and now it is in the lake and mostly suspended, ran over to clickapudi or three at about 1.6 per, two on the mgm157 and one on the rainbow 286, then went upstream to blue canyon and into the back or three more and one good one, a 2.6 on the rainbow 99, the other two came on a mgm 54 in a 3 inch curly tail and a 5inch 156 with a curly tail, got into the shade in the back and the temp dropped about 10 degrees, went baack to the ramp at 330 pm and the temp was dropping down to 42, was a nice day, no wind and the lake was lat or as ar as u could see, lots o debris in the pit but not so big that u had to worry about it much. most ish came out o the 25-35 t depth, the largest was in about 10t and tight up against a steep bank with chunk rock on it.
      City: Redding

Tips: mgm 157,54,and156, the rainbow 99 is producing the bigger ish(or me anyhow)lately

I was using a 1/4 oz. brown/purple with a cinnamon double tail yamamoto trailer, buddy was using a brown jig with same trailer. Both o us lost all those jigs and just started using a 1/4 oz. ootball head with cinnamon hula grubs, caught just as many ish on that. Got 'em rom about 5-20 eet. My buddy outished me and I think the dierence was he had 6 lb. test, I had 8.
