      Water Temp: 76

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started fishing about 7;30am on the east side and on my first cast caught a spot on a spook. Got few more on spook and looked for fish in the shallows. I saw bass here and there all ober the lake. Saw some chasing shad too. There was no wind and made fishing tough. Threw some swimbaits and hooked a couple of good ones around 3 lbs, and lost one bigger. tried flukes alot and managed to catch a few when the wind finally came up a little. Tried dart heading in deeper water and started catching a few more. Mostly spots and smallies. Wy friend caught some dragging behind the boat too. I caught a hybrid that weighed 3.70 lbs. I was surprized how big that bass was.
      City: san mateo

Tips: Try cranking or use small swim baits, We seen a few bass chasing shad here and there though out the day. Fish aroung 15 to 25 ft. Thats where we were getting the spots and smallies. Fish windy ares.

Report: Finally got to Clear Lake last night after many, many days guiding at Oroville. I took my buddy Mike Sperbeck - the amateur champion at last weekends 2 day tournament. Congrats - Mike!!! We started fishing about 7:30 pm and had no action. Just before dark we worked Horseshoe Bay and he got the first bass - about 2 1/2 lbs - the smallest of the trip. So, I figured I would get the largest bass of the trip in the boat, har! Working a green pumpkin Power Worm in about 20 feet of water, I got the soft hit and set hard. Glad I did!! She cleared the water 2 times and wallowed more than I really could stand. But Mike is my trusty net man and a 7 lb 5 oz bass was in the boat. What a beauty - didn't have a mark on her. Fat, too. I though maybe she hadn't spawn yet?? Well, that must have fired up Mike 'cause I netted the next 4 - one at 3 3/4 lbs and 3 from 4 to 4 lbs 10 oz. We continued with some success up to Henderson Point where the wind finally beat us up too much. There were 3 other boats there and we finally all left. I got another bass at Dollar Island and we fished a few more areas down to the back of Konocti Bay. We caught a few more with me catching the last one - about 5 lbs. Final score: Mike - 9 bass, Larry - 4. We missed or lost about 15 or so, mostly because of the wind. Really good night I felt with our 5 best over 25 lbs!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: The bite seemed to be best before the moon got very high. We stayed in shadows most of the time. As often happens in clear water, the full moon was covered with clouds for about 20 minutes - around midnight. Boy - did the bite turn on!! Mike even hooked - and lost - a nice bass on a swimbait. Moon bright again - bite died again - except for the last bass around 1:30 am - the 5 pounder. Other than the Power worm, we caught bass on brush hogs, other worms, and 2 of the biggest on a D&M Piranha swim jig - including the 5. I lost 3 or 4 on that bait for some reason. We found fish from 5 to 25 feet - all depths. Senko bite didn't happen for us. Nor did topwater at dusk.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The lake is just under 4' from full. water temp in the main body is 66 and a little warmer in the coves. Soft plastics like Senkos and tubes are getting bit as well as white spinnerbaits with double white willow blades. The top water bite is starting to come on, We have had a few reports of topwater fish this week from guys that have throwing poppers and floating minnow baits and having good sucess in the mornings and evenings.

      Water Temp: 67-70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Wow! Finally!! 70 degree water!!! 'Bout time! I took a father/daughter team yesterday and found the bite to still be pretty good. We fished about 6 hrs and 25 or more with 3 over - up to 2 lbs 11 oz. The teenage girl had only fished about 2 times in her life and has pro potential! She was casting like a pro in about 15 minutes and her second spotted bass was 16 1/4 inches!! Female anglers seem to pick up casting skills so quickly! We stayed in the middle fork, working small coves and steep areas with shadows. There are lots of overhanging trees in the middle fork now. They say the lake is 99% full - trust me - it is 100% full. The 2 food shoreline visible last Sat is GONE! Next trip? A grandpa and an 8 year old. Pray for me!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: We pretty much stuck with Robo worms in the morning. Morning dawn (makes sense!) was working and oxblood was great today. I had an idea to try a small Beaver, brown w/ chartreuse tail. Bingo!! Started that pattern about 11:30 am and the spots were all over it! We ended the trip with several on that bait and another one over the slot. We just Texas rigged the bait with a #1 Gami hook. I tried Senkos briefly and caught a nice one but decided the wind was too much for my clients to use them effectively.

Report: Blew motor on Ranger, learned to walk shore and find lots of bed fish. Fishing was great. 6 year old Jack now can identify nest and where fish should be. Surprised Larry did not mention bed fish he was in big cove one week later. We stay at the Knotty pine across the way and they are awesome there.
      City: Mountain View

Tips: Fish thought it was May with temp and big moon. Jack did not catch any popper fish probably too cold still. Lots on rip bait before lost mercury 150. Tubes worked best in cove and also caught a 3.25 on a crank bait lots of fun. Many meat hunters with bobbers, when Jack caught one he quickly returned it to its nest.

      Water Temp: 64-68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Decent day, got out on the water about 8:00 a.m. launched from Buckley Cove & fished Turner Cut & 14 Mile slough, stuck a 5#er right off the bat on a Senko in 14 Mile in the tulies. then a couple in the 2-3# range along the same bank. Cut across to the other side & fished the isolated tulies along the rip rap & stuck a 4+ and another 3#er on a craw colored spinnerbait. Then stuck a PIG that went every bit of 8 lbs. got a good look at her right before she came unbuttoned at the boat(DOH !!). then cruised over to Turner Cut & caught a couple more in the tulies on the Senko. off the water by 1:00. as the "Tool Patrol" (all the "cool"kids in their Daddy's boats)were launching.
Pretty good day for a little over 4 hours fishing.
      City: Modesto

Tips: DEEP in the tulies. the farther back you can get, the better. Natural colors seem to work best. Spinnerbaits in craw colors on isolated tulie patches seemed to be the ticket also. Have fun & feel blessed to have such a great fishery in our back yard !!

      Water Temp: 68 to 74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Spotted Bass are still spawning. Most of the better fish I caught were females that had not spawned but were up getting ready. A lot of surface activity with mostly small fish chasing bait. Nice lake and hope to come back soon.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Grub fished on 1/8 oz. Darthead and 4 inch senko caught the most. 3/8 oz. spinner bait fished around deep brush in 15 feet of water is also working.

      Water Temp: 65-69

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took a young couple and their 13 yr old nephew to Oroville yesterday and enjoyed a fairly good bite and another cool summer day. We threw various Robo worms most of the day - mostly 6 inch Texas rigged. We found the fish a little deeper yesterday until some mudlines developed and then caught some from 5 to 10 feet. The highlight of the trip was the young boy catching the biggest fish of the trip - a 17 inch spot a hair over 2 1/2 lbs! He was thrilled (and so was the guide)!! And that fish was shallow. The lad played the fish like a pro! This was everyone's first time bass fishing in a bass boat. They usually fish from the bank or rent a boat. We wound up with around 25 fish and another big one lost at the boat by the husband. We had between 8 and 9 lbs for the best 5.CRC orpoodur After falling off as the favorite bait, the morning dawn w/chartreuse tail was again red hot in my boat yesterday. Maybe because of a little more water color. We only fished the middle fork.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: If you are just getting into bass fishing - remember to keep your rod tip up off the water when the bass gets next to the boat. If you let the bass pull your tip down, the bass is pulling directly against the reel and there is no give. A bigger bass will break lighter line or the hook will pull out - which happened yesterday to the man. He lost a GOOD fish! We concentrated on walls with indentations and points with small coves on either side. That has been a good pattern for me at Oroville for years!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I'll go to the forum next......I came over to San Justo with friends from Carmel to fish for the planters. We stopped at the bait shop for info. as to where to try our luck. We were directed to the floating pier and to use power bait or kastmasters. I
like hardware. so I made several casts to judge the depth of the area. i hung up on the bottom several times.....after losing several spoons to something that was to heavy to drag in. I went back to the truck and grabbed my surf striper gear!!! Sure I was laughed at but I was able to pull in the WADDED up remains of hundreds of yards of discarded FISHINGLINE that included two fishing rods, trolling blades,a three pound down rigger ball with 20ft of cable, three of my spoons among others. The SADDDD part is that it was all bound together with 10lbs of ZEBRA MUSSELS !!!!! I took a 5lb mass of these mussels to the bait shop to show anyone that might be interested. It was told to me that " OH !! Those things are common hear since a couple of YEARS ago and to leave them there. I Did. And proceeded to find someone from out of the area, with a badge.
Half of the remaining 5lbs went to 4 Park Rangers at Los Banos Creek Reservoir that were engaged in some sort of official tour. The remaining went An official at water resources. The rods cleaned up nice.
I have since mentioned this to several fishermen that had expressed interests and concerns about San Justo....there are lots of eyes and ears out there....their GOING to getcha it's just a matter of time.

Tips: Please be concerned about your resource or someone will do it for you. Let this be a lesson to those that abuse my resources with your lousy....BEER CAN THROWING, LINE STRIPPING, TOURNAMENT MONEY GRABBING, Inconsiderate bastards.
