Water Temp: 64-68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out early Monday trying to beat the crowd but didn't see many boats bass fishing. After a couple of hours I can see why. First of all they drop the water about 5ft.So that had something to do with the bite.I tried everything you would this time of year, topwater, crankbaits, spinnerbait, dropshot, etc. No takers in the south end.I finale got bit on steep rock banks on a superhog got 2 about 1 1/2lbs.and a trout on a crankbait about 3 lbs. Tough day on the water. hope to get em' next time. Good Luck

Stevens Creek Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the water right at 8:00. Lake is full and really beautiful. Caught a 5 lb about 8:20 along the bluff across from the picnic grounds and a 3 lb about 9:30 in the narrows-again right off shore along a bluff. Both hit BB rapala. Covered the back pretty well, nada. The lake needs to turn over its crystal clear at the moment.
City: Palo ALtoTips: I would concentrate on deep water close (right next) to shore until the water warms a bit and the lake turns over.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hooked/lost 10-15 LMB. All caught on senkos thrown tight into tulles. Colors: any dark color worked, fish not particular today. Caught early am and when tide began to move in afternoon. Most fish were small, 1-2 lbs.
Nothing on frog or spinner baitsTips: fish were tight in tulles. look for pockets in tulles.

Camanche Lake
-
Water Temp: 69
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished 2 days and caught 20 bass. Day 1 they were up shallow 2-5ft on the outside weed edges. Senkos worked. Day 2 they were in the mud lines created by the holiday boat traffic. Drop shot worked for that pattern. Fish were 7-15ft on the edges. Caught my biggest fish one evening when a top water bite turned on around 7:00PM producing multiple 3 to 4 lb fish and really exciting fishing. Tried a frog and got followers but could not trigger a strike. Switched to a small, quiet Zara Puppy and they exploded on that bait. All fish were caught in the east side of the main lake and in the river area.
City: Foster CityTips: Patterns only lasted 1 day so be flexible and switch quickly if yesterdays fish are not there. Fish from shallow AM to 15ft mid day. The top water doesn't turn on until just before dark in water 70deg.

Camp Far West Lake
-
Water Temp: Cold
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Had a fun day of fishing despite all of the annoying Jet Skis and Wake Board Boats. Wifey and I Fished the Bear River Arm for 4 hours netting 8 bass 4 keepers to 2.5 pounds. 7 Spotted one Small Mouth.
City: W.SacTips: The Water is high and cold in the Bear Arm. Our best technique was to drag worms. Although Wifey caught the 2LB Smallie on a 5 inch Senko???

Collins Lake
-
Water Temp: 67-70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Haven't been here in awhile, but managed a nice 21" spot that had a beat up tail from the spawn. Caught her in the empty boat slip next to mine at dusk on Sat. night with a 4" senko. Went out 3 times during the day Sunday with the kids and managed 2 each time. All spots in the 11-13" range. Mostly caught them on senkos and a white 3"? fluke with a some quick rips in less than 8' of water. Monday am caught 6 more on the above baits and hula grub and drop shot. A couple were only 10", but the kids don't care. Saw a few nice trout caught from shore while there. It is nice to see the lake full. Don't know for how long.

Shasta Lake
-
Water Temp: 62 - 67
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the long weekend over Memorial. Great weather on Sat & Sun. Fished in the evening on both days. Crankbaits were the ticket. Worked jigs an had no takers. Tossed other plastic and still nothing. Crankbait was what they wanted. Dark back with silver on the side. My son went out on Sunday in the morning and did not get a hit on anything. Once the sun went down the bite picked up.
City: Fernley, NvTips: We were on the Sac arm, O'brien area mostly. Work a lot of different baits til you find what they want. Darker baits did best for us. Lighter color cranks were not doing it.
Be cautious and what for debris.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Was on the water a little late (approx 0800). Drove to the area under the bridge. Water started off very clear but the wind, ski boats and jet skis turned the water to stained quickly. Caught two right off the bat with a spinner bait. No luck with Robo worms on a drop shot. By 1000 the bit stopped.
City: Dayton, NV -
Water Temp: 61-65
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The cloud formations in the afternoon made for a beautiful scene yesterday at Berryessa. The rain and hail from the night before did not help the bite however. I had a beginner client wanting to see what bass fishing was all about. Unfortunately, he wasn't quite ready to go when I met him at Markley. We got off to a later start - after 7 am - and the bite was on - sort of. We started fishing Robo worms and he soon landed his first-ever bass on a MMIII Robo - a spot about 1 1/2 lbs. I got a largemouth about 2 and another smaller one. He missed about 3 or 4 others and soon the bite just died. We had 5 or 6 total in the boat and that was it. He did learn 3 or 4 styles of bass fishing and it was a fun day. I decided to have us drag behind the boat on an off-shore ridge. I was using a small beaver and had a real good hit and she snapped my 8 lb test in about 6 or 7 seconds. Fun while it lasted!! We fished the narrows and areas around the mouth of the narrows. Our bites were 10 to 20 feet deep.
City: Yuba CityTips: Hard to give tips on a day with very poor, cold weather conditions. In addition to the very clear water, the lake went dead flat calm after 12:30 pm. I even took a photo - it was like a pane of glass. Not a single hint of any surface activity from any species of fish! I'm sure that the warmer days ahead will turn things around very quickly!

Report: Fished out of Tower Park. Caught 5 but the largest was 2.5 lbs. One on a red speed trap and 4 on an orange craw rat-l-trap. Missed a few - maybe they were the bigger ones I was looking for. Nice day to be out - not hot or overly windy. Also tried spinners, soft plastics and chatterbaits without success.
City: Stockton -
Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Did ok yesterday, not great, but not bad considering the storm that came through the day before.Did more gardening than anything else. The moss growth is a lot like Clear Lake.Looking forward to warmer water temps and a good top water bite!

Lopez Lake
-
Water Temp: 65.3
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A short trip to the pez to check out a new trolling motor.. SWEET! Holds in the wind like I needed. This Tour edition Motorguide Digital 82# is the ticket!
Hit Whittenberg east wall stickups with a top water and scored three right off the bat. Nice 3-5 pounders! Tossed a blade towards the backside around stickups with only two takers. Went back to the weeds and threw a whacky senko scoring four more in the 13-15" range. Moved off to Vasquez east walls and hit a few on hula grubs before calling it a goo day.. Nice outing. Wind was out a little but warm conditions.
City: SMTips: Whittenberg fish were all in the 4-5 foot range for the top water and 6-9 feet with the Senko. Good solid fish. Healthy and hungry!

Report: Spent Memorial Day at the lake...ooops.Well..so much for fishing.I did see some fish trying to reposition for a second try at the spawn. They raised the water level 10 plus feet in a week or two.It put the spawn in a "STATE".I did see lots of trout jumping all over the place though. Will go up in a week after the water settles down.

Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tough day 4 bites 2 fish. Biggest 3.5 on a Speed Trap, other on Senko. Fished out of B&W to Franks Tract. Spent too much time trying to perfect Punching technique. They can have it!! I'll wait for the frog bite to get those mean nasty mat bass!!
Tips: Fishes appeared to be still affected by recent cold front, very sluggish.

Nacimiento Lake
-
Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the CBC at Nacimiento. Day after cloudy with sprinkles so north wind to 25 MPH and being the Friday of Memorial Day holiday lots of boats by noon, more like a zoo. No topwater in the morning so by 10:00 am with no fish I went to a YUM Houdini worm and scratched up a very small limit, had to measure a couple. Since there was not reaction bite being a bluebird windy day after a front I went to a YUM Gonzo grub on a 1/2 oz football jig and culled three of my squeekers to weigh a limit for 5.96 lbs. Lots of small fish but only about 12 keepers for the day. This is not a normal spring for Nacimiento, San Antonio or Santa Margarita. All these lakes are either full or 20 feet higher than the high water level the last 4 or 5 years. I think the combination of post spawn and alot of grass detiorating in the water has the ph off or something. The water is clear but has a sort of tea colored stain to it. A couple months ago I had 50 fish days when the fish were all over the flats and spawning but that's gone and the summer feed is just not on yet.
City: Paso RoblesTips: This is the best year for shad in a long time. Every pocket has bait in it. Some of it is over 3 inches long. The fish you catch are healthy and have little bellies on them so watch this lake in the next couple years. Fish finesse like drop shot, senko, texas rig worm or a small jig real slow on main lake points or pockets and you'll catch fish.

Tenmile Lake
-
Water Temp: 55-59
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Wow! Tenmile Lake is a fantastic place if you like catching bass. We had a great day. Monday the 24th was overcast pretty much all day and it only sprinkled once right as we were leaving the lake @ 3PM. We launched at about 7AM- cruised over to our first area and within 15 minutes I hooked a 4 plus on a jig that shakes loose 12' from the boat. I like this lake! A little while later I get the first one in the boat- a nice chunky 2 lb.,13 oz.- 17 1/2" largemouth. Most came off docks and all the fish were caught on jigs. My partner Mike may have had a slow start but he ended up with the biggest(A 5 pounder give or take a few ounces!), the most (About 14-15 fish to my 6 or 7) and as usual schooled me!! But I didn't mind a bit- I had a blast and can't wait to go over again and soon! We saw quite a few bed fish/cruisers- some we caught, some we just scared off. Most seemed to be 2 pound males. We tried pretty much all different depths and except for the 5 pounder couldn't seem to locate the egg laden big mamas! Our next two best were a 3.10 and a 3.6. Water clarity was 2-6' in most areas. We did spend about 45 minutes in another area and only caught 1- 2 lb. bass but saw several cruisers about the same 2 lb. size. On Tuesday, the 25th we spent about 6 hours at Cottage Grove Lake from 5:30-11:30AM. It was sprinkling when we launched and we had 2 or 3 short periods of actual rain and a few periods of cloudy/sunny stuff. Water temps were almost the same as the day before at Tenmile. Fifty five to begin and about 58.5 at the peak. We tried several of my favorite spots with nothing to show for our efforts. We bounced around several new spots as well as way up the creek. We were getting pretty frustrated after the great day we had yesterday at Tenmile. We tried jigs, ripbaits, rattletraps, senkos, shallow crankbaits, brush hogs, buzzbaits and finally the one lure that caught our only fish of the day...... a deep crankbait. Bounced it off some 12' deep riprap and BAM! Amazingly there seemed to be no more fish in the area- just the lone 3.2- 18"er. Thank God it hit my lure- could you imagine the grief I would have taken from Mike if he outfished me at "his" lake and then kicked my butt at "my" lake the very next day. Friendly competition is what makes bass fishin' so fun. My 2 little ones will get a chance to sample Tenmile before the summer goes by!
City: yoncallaTips: Jigs worked great at Tenmile- not at all at C.G.(At least these trips!) I've heard spinnerbaits are great at Tenmile- I only remember getting one fish on a spinnerbait at C.G. and it was a 13" trout!! At Tenmile I had only 1 bass flash out and almost hit my black/blue buzzbait- a 1 1/2 to 2 lb. fish! Kind of shocked we didn't get any senko fish at either lake or brush hog fish either. If we ever get a whole week straight of sunny weather the shoreline will be loaded with spawners at both lakes. And I will be there- how 'bout you!??! Oh yeah-watch out for that old dude in the runabout with the broken throttle cable. We think he wails around the lake 'cause he's too lazy to change the "stuck wide open" cable. It would cut into his fishing time.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Overcast and windy. Put 5 fish in the boat on 1/4 oz. drop shot rig along rocky banks using Roboworms. Fished around Big Island and back of coves with reaction baits and drop shot...no action. Others anglers at the dock reported catching a lot more than than I. All under 2 lbs.
City: SacramentoTips: Bite is incredibly soft, fish slow & take the kids!
