      Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 7:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Caught sixteen bass on a dropshot and shacky head using MM3 and bluegill Robo worms. Fished points and around brush in 1 to 10 feet of water. Bites are still very soft. Caught four trout with the MM3 worm on the shacky head.
      City: Rancho Cordova

Tips: Lake should bust loose soon. Fish during the week if you can. The lake was a zoo Saturday. Good fishing.

      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Big change since last week. First the water temp went from 52 to 58-59 deg. Second the wind was up. Caught 22 LM biggest 3lbs. Had a back seater for 2 hrs and he caught 7. All caught on lizzard and brush hog in 6-15 ft on wind blown shallows with a mud line just as Team Dean experienced. Nothing on spinner or crank in the same areas I caught them on with plastics.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Fish are getting active and moving shallow with the increase in water temp. The reaction bite should start soon. Try reaction baits first (more fun) and if no bite where there should be fish then go with plastics fished shallow to deep.

      Water Temp: 55-56

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished all morning around the mouth of the narrows up to the ranch house. Used only two baits all day, a Lunker Lures rattlin' jig (brown/green) with a Paca craw chunk, and a chrome/blue back rattle trap. The jig bite was consistent in 10-15 feet of water on and near rocky points. It was a little more spotty with the rattle trap, but I did get a nice blowup from a 3 lb smallmouth in about 4 feet of water fishing parallel to a rocky bank. I was burning the rattle trap when he hit it. Not a spectacular day, but fun with a decent jig bite.
      City: Vacaville

Tips: The bites are coming shallower than they were in previous weeks. Looks like the prespawn is on. If I had more time, I would have moved over to the Vineyards or Putah Creek. The reaction bite looks to be heating up. Time to bust out the ripbaits!

      Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Middle River from 8:00am to 2:30pm caught 21 fish between my partner, ranging from 1lbs to almost 4lbs. Best 5 would be about 16lbs. All fish were caught on Texas rig and Dropshot.
      City: Mtn. View

Tips: Fish texas rig and Dropshot really slow and pay attention to your line. Most bite are subtle but some are vicious.

      Water Temp: 57-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I am passing on a report from one of our Devil Mountain club members and based on his report and my conclusion, the spawn is beginning. They caught 25+ fish up to 5 lbs. The jig and beaver continue to be productive for numbers. The spinnerbait bite is continues to be on and off, but producing the occasional fish.

It looks to me like the males are coming shallow to begin building beds and if the weather continues to stay warm we are days away from the big girls.

The devil mountain bassmasters will be up at Clear lake this weekend, then back to our home water of the Delta in April. If you would like to join us feel free to give me a call 925-639-7724.
      City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Find time to fish mid week.

Report: Went out today around noon and fished the southern arm. Caught seven bass on rock piles and ledges. Bass were in about 20-25 feet of water. Drop shotted robo worms the entire day. Tried spinner's, crank and chatter baits but the drop shot was on. Lake is really starting to pick up with the good weather.

      Water Temp: 57-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: What a day at Casitas! Partner and I went out ofr a practice day and on arrival, was greeted by several boaters doing a tourney today along with my good greats and great fishermen, Mark and Bob Tull.

Beings only my second visit to Casitas, I was hopuing for a great day as the temps were up and it appeared that fish wee heading to bed with the warmer temps. Headed out to our first stop but it was pretty filled with head-streachers looking for beds. We elected to hit another ppoint and started tossing weightless rigs, Partner hit a fair keeper and we kept hugging the shore line working it very slow. BANG! Partner hooked into a beast and he worked it to the boat finally in range of the net and I loaded her in. A very nice 9-8 24 incher! We moved off to another section of the lake and started wirking different baits and looking for possible points to hit during the upcoming tourney. A few more decent keepers arrived in the boat then BANG! Partner hooks another 'pig' and this time she headed to deep water. After a sort battle, another toad in the boat! 10.0 and 25 1/2 incher. A horse! Partner had a slight case of 'palsey' trying to re-hook bait and needed a short rest period for his heart to catch up! Nice day- Weather was out and it was in the 80's. This should bring the fish up within a week if this patteren holds.

Talked to my friends and a heafty 29 pounds took the tourney today -- They didn't fair as well nor did I. I had a harse day but partner scored huge with probably close to 32 pounds for the day on 5.
      City: Santa Maria

Tips: Wont say where we caught them nor what we used but it wasn't bed fishing! There are there -- fish it slow!

      Water Temp: 49-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Another great day for me. Launched at 9:30 and fished until 4:30. I caught 9 -quality- fish. My best 5 went: 5-6, 4-12, 3-9, 3-8, 3-2 for a total of 20-5. I also lost at least 5-6 other fish that either spit the hook or wrapped me around tules and escaped. I caught the majority of my fish using a shakey head worm, although I did take the 3-9 on spinnerbait. I fished mid-lake and north lake today.

Tips: Go fishing. The bite is great even with all the tournaments and other fishermen there's still PLENTY of room to fish and many fish to be caught.

      Water Temp: 58 to 60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went for the 1st time in 10 years to fish .Last time there, 3 years ago, I bought a boat from Ron stoll
The fish were up on the bank and down to 8ft.
It was overcast in the morning and my dad caught fish on nightcrawlers one after another. He ran out of 25 worms in 2 hours.
I caught fish on 4 1/2 in. robo peoples worm on a spot remover. I flipped it into the big brushy bushes and the big ones ripped them apart.
went to the larger worm and they didn't want it. went back to small worm and got fish.
tried crappie for 1/2 hour canned that idea and fished 1/4 oz brown /purple jig with yamamoto, cin/purple flake 4" twin tail. 3 more fish. Closed out drop shotting 4 1/2" prism craw the rest of the day. Finished with close to 20 fish. 15 inch and better were in the bushes. lots of 2lb. bucks in the open shore line water.
Going back next week to flip again.
      City: los angeles

Tips: Quiet water was better early in the day.
Brown worms. Try the bases of brushy bushes.
If you just want to have fun with the family or friends and you want to get bit...... fresh, frisky, nightcrawlers.
6lb. flouro, Gamakatsu weedless octupus hooks.
Toss them close to or into the short scrub brush and hold on.
Im sure that the reaction bite will happen for some. I just feel they're cruising for a meal and defending their new nest territory

      Water Temp: 54.8

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Things sure have chaned since the last time out a couple weeks ago. The water temp is 4 degrees warmer and the fish were all shallow on rock shore with wood or steep structure. Rich caught the first fish right off the bat at the first place we fished in the A.M., a 2 pound smallies on a spinner bait. I followed up a couple minutes later with a 2+ spot on a jerk bait. We had 5 in the boat and off the water at 1:30pm.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Reaction was the ticket today with a fish on a jerk bait, 2 on the spinner bait, one worm fish and a jig fish. All the bites came on the pause.

      Water Temp: warmer

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started Jack's Shack caught a two pound spot, then a three plus smallie, two more bites, wasn't paying attention, talking to someone. Later on no boates so I quickly moved up river past underwater bridge to "lovers leap"(rock ledge dropping straight down into main channel, one of my secret holes). Fish were stacked up awaiting water to rise for bedding. Immediately I caught a five pound plus black and on the very next cast was a clone, fished another ten minutes still could not hear any boats coming up the lake and whammo, another fiver(all blacks), then about three casts later I caught a four plus smallie. Total was over twenty one pounds. Dumped them and headed out to Jack's again to sit it out and get a bite to eat. Could have thrown swim baits like R.Graves but I've done that many times and have been very sucessful at it, however I take a different light to it now.
      City: sac

Tips: Take time to understand what time of year it is and like I have said before , "they are moving up" Check out structures close to bedding areas, that is where they will stage, crawdads are the favorite meal right now. Eight pound test is what I recommend. Jigs caught all my bass today, 1/4 oz, brown, open hook.

      Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished for most of the day. Caught a lot throughout the day. Fish seemed to be located on rocky points between 10' to 35'. Also caught a few off of trees. All were pretty much around 1lb with a 5lb 12oz LM mixed in. Caught 5 smallies also. Plastics were the ticket. Green worked the best, but other colors worked. We drop shotted, carolina rigged and the shakey head worm all seemed to work.

      Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: partner dan, and I killed them today. Dan Nailed a #7 on his second cast with a chatterbait, and then continued to knock the snotbubbles out of them for the next half an hour, he couldn't do any wrong with that damedable bait. No matter where he thru it, there was a big bass waiting for it. The smallest fish of the day went about #2, and there was only one of those. The bite cooled down after the early a.m., but picked up where it left off about 11.00 this time it was my turn, and I got them all, (cept) 1 on the same lookin chatterbait.
Only other fish came on a superfluke. Total for Dan 11 bass, for me 8, but I would love to get out fished like that any day of the week. all in all we had a #28 5 fish limit

      Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: After a two year hiatious I came back to my favorite lake. I took along a newbie and there were 6 boats out there when I launched and I was first through the pay gate. Based on assumptions that I made from the last post I went after the fish while I had newbie fish a senko. I fished jigs,blades,cranks.....I flipped I pitched...NOTHING! I was shocked....O well to save the day I took out the drop-shot and put 23 in the boat along with newbie's 9. I did get two largemouth and a smallmouth on cranks in the evening. The crank was a splatterback dd-14 Norman and the worm was a 6 inch fat robo-oxblood light red flake. Worms were pitched into 4 feet and shook like hell in one place. drag and repeat. Most bites were away from the bank but tight to the brush. Just males up thinking about it. Two crank fish happened on one point wham largemouth/ wham smallmouth....the third I made a great cast into some nasty stuff and cranked the back of the cove starting in 2 feet and I only got two cranks on the handle and got just crushed by the best fish of the day. I talked to fish and game about the obvious fish for cash thing going on at lopez...Operators put folks on the bank and set them up with crawdads for bait while they use a walkie talike to communactes with another boat. Stuff like that is shady at best but she ( the warden ) has her hands full trying to actually catch them at anything as they are busy destroying evidence as she is pulling in and would have to scuff up the boat driving it right up on the suspected problem ( over harvest ) before they can cut it loose or throw back the under size fish. I always like to drive my boat over the top of the structure they are fishing so they have a nice day on the water instead of limit fishing for 9 adults and 6 children= 75 fish. evn the cormorants don't wipe the joint out as bad. Have a fun trip, be same around the other boats...Trout fishermen were having a ball in a circle by the dam right on top. Good size too!
      City: Santa Barbara

Tips: Water clarity is not an issue it's about slowing down and fishing tight. In retrospect I'd be up lake fishing in the very backs of the little cuts and fishing mainlake points uphill from deeper for the females first light. I was shocked at the non-existant reaction bite. I saw some guys catch a few on a crank or worm but it didn't fish like I expected...Give it time and you'll find the fish

      Water Temp: 55-57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Took my daughter out for a couple hours of fishing on Saturday. Weather was sunny 80 degrees and windy. Stayed in Calville bay area, managed one bass around 2.5lbs on a finesse jig with Robo worm flipping craw trailer. Water is warming, fish should begin moving up.
      City: Henderson

Tips: Only managed one bite so no real tips. This fish was caught on a transition from hard rock to boulders.

      Water Temp: 54-57

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got out on the water about 7:45 this morning. Wind was kicking ass from several directions pushing my little Nitro all over. Managed to get 2 on tubes on the first 2 points on the right side entering Santa Felicia. Got tired of running the trolling motor constantly to keep the boat straight. Decided to drag Normans around the shoreline instead of fighting the wind and found 4 more on the east side by the entrance to the narrows. All fish were about 1.5lbs nothing big. Very suprising that there was not alot more "Lake Lice" with the hot temps. It wasn't a bad day but not as great as it has been.

      Water Temp: 54-58.9

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Clarity about 2 feet. Water temp: most places in mid-to-upper 58s, some places in the mid 54s. Fished from 6:15 pm till 2:30 am. No moon until 1 am and it was too low to make a big difference. All fish but one was on jig, other was senko. Two fish before dark (jigs) and about 8 or so after dark. No bites on anything else. A few fish were shallow but most were about 12'-18' (that we caught). Many metered fish out deeper in 18'-50' with no takers. Overall, quite slow but what do you expect for a no-moon night and cold temps and fog banks floating by? Day jig was Hemphill special with shortened 5" Yammy craw and night jig was Vypr black/chartreuse with 5" #180 Yammy grub. Smelly Jelly seemed to help. Caught fish about 1/2 way back in coves and main body but all but one were near points.
      City: Folsom

Tips: Watch out for the debris near the launch ramp when loading your boat - tons of it. Tip: partially pull on and off your trailer 3 or 4 times before trying to put it on trailer. If you hear squeaking, it means there is wood stuck between your hull and your trailer bunks and you should reload. After you pull trailer out of water, visually inspect to see if any large wood is stuck between bunks ahd hull. If so, relaunch and reload.
