Water Temp: 60-62
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Had a great day! Got out at around 10am, yeah, nice late start, head up to a favorite spot of mine, and just started catchin em...nothing big, lots of males pushing the bank...fished about a 1/4 mile stretch of old river and got 12 in 3 hours...LOTS of boats out there...bite was odd, some just crushed it, some just sucked it in and the line told ya a fish was there...biggest was around 3#..most in that typical delta 1-1.5# cookie cutter..
City: TracyTips: plastics on the rocks, fished the upswing of the tide, seemed once the tide went out bite got tougher...dark colors worked best, fished slow.
-
Water Temp: up to 60*
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: First time on the water in about 6 months. Geez I am totally clueless!!! Found surface water temps (well, OK as deep as my trolling motor anyway) up to 60 degrees in shallow areas (3-6 ft) up around Venice/Middle River/Mildred. I tried jigs (brown/purple), beavers (brown/orange) and blades (white/silver). Nada. Even tried dropshotting and got zilch. I 'may' have gotten bit once on the jig but if I did I missed completely. I tried fishing ledges with weeds next to the flats and points, tried the first tule clumps next to deeper water, shallow tules around flats, rock walls, docks and wood, in current, out of current... All in all I was only out for about 3 or 4 hours but still, the fish gods could have smiled on me a little bit!
Tips: I could sure use some right now! (I know it's FLW week out there but I can still ask, eh?)
The cruisers were out in force - courteous boaters that they are... Be careful! -
Water Temp: 57
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished fri/sat/sun and I have to say it was a bit tougher than it has been. Talked to a lot of guys sayin the same. Got like 1.3 fish per hour. That's TF(total fish)/THF(total hours fished)= FPH(fish per hour). There's also pounds of fish per hour but that's another formula! Fishin was better than not fishin.
Tips: Anticipate rookie boat drivers flyin around blind corners!

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 50-51
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went Friday got 8 fish up to 4lbs. a few on swimbait and a few drop shottin. Just got a little Ranger boat and I am back into it. My Mastercraft Wakeboat was workin. This is my third bass boat. Glad to be back. Going out again tomorrow. Like to Fish Sonoma and Clear Lake.
City: PetalumaTips: Think like a fish and pay attention, some hits are very subtle.
-
Water Temp: 50-56
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: WOW. Took my son and his friend from college out today and we ripped 37 fish in about 3.5 hours. Our best 5 fish went 18-5, nothing huge with out biggest was just over 4 with many fish in the 3 to 4 lb range. I wish everyday was like this one. We found a spot where the bass had pinned several schools of shad and the action was just about non-stop. What a blast :) My thumb is ripped to shreds (pun intended) and 3 of my rip baits are missing paint and are covered with tooth marks:) I feel like calling in sick to work tommorrow just to hit up this spot again :)
City: PetalumaTips: Lucky Craft Pointer 128, Megabass Ito Vision 110

Don Pedro Lake
-
Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: FISHED FROM 8AM TO 2PM. I THOUGHT WITH ALL OF THE WARM WEATHER THAT WE HAVE BEEN SEEING, THAT THE LAKE WOULD BE GOING OFF. NOT THE CASE! WE MANAGED ONLY 7 BASS ALL DAY. NO REACTION BITE AT ALL. A FEW BASS IN THE SHALLOWS, BUT NO EVEN CLOSE TO BEING WIDE OPEN. THIS LAKE IS ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AWAY FROM BEING WIDE OPEN.
City: RiponTips: SOFT PLASTICS, SLOW..SLOW..SLOW. TRY AND KEY ON THE SUNNY POINTS WITH CHUNK ROCK. THAT SEEM TO BE WHERE WE SAW THE MOST ACTION. HANG ON BOYS... THE SPRING BITE IS ALMOST HERE.

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Yes I am the Rookie Jim gave his spot to THANK YOU we did not produce any fish but we saw you catch them all HA HA Thanks Again for the Jig we ended up with 2 spots 3.5 pounds and left at 1pm
City: RosevileTips: we used to catch our two white grubs with a little sent Thanks again Jim
Happy fishing Neil -
Water Temp: 52 a.m.
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: These are only fish reports not bashing reports. Anyway mainbody had four bite on 1/4 oz jigs, one over five and one a shade over twelve, two smaller three pounders. Moved up river checked out five more spots, one hole produced over twenty over three pounds. Two boats came right up close to me and watched in amazement at one cast after another yielding at least a three pounder each cast. Later I politely gave it to a couple of hardworking, fishless fishermen) and left to find out how my buddy was doing. Folsom fishing is not hard when you have the knowledge , but damned hard if you are a rookie. I finished up with twenty seven pounds on a jig not a swimbait.
City: sacTips: Don't let know it alls mess with your mind with bashing, just ignore their ineptitude to get it done and show a little class. One thing to remember with a big fish is not to put your thumb on the spool counteracting the purpose of the drag system. Mornings work your jigs down hill after the thermals change direction work your jig uphill. Good fishing, Jim(P.S. Cabo , another report coming soon, har, har.

Nicasio Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: THIS IS ALSO FOR STAFFORD LAKE
Started fishing around 9pm on Saturday night. Threw everything in my bag for 4 hours up and down the bank, worms, rat-l-traps, spinners, jigs, cranks, top-water frogs, others. I didn't get a single bit, not anything. The about 1am the moon started to come up, coincidence, I think not.
Well the bites started to come, well actually only one bite. It was a 10lb 14ounce lunker that took my favorite bait. After that lunker the bite turned on and I caught between 10-15 fish, though none bigger then 3lbs after the big one.
City: NovatoTips: Worms and soft plastics still seem to be the way to go. Though for the first time out there I started to see fish roll.
-
Water Temp: 60-ish
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished Stafford Lake for about 3 hours, one bite, one hook-up, one keeper...about a 2 1/2-pounder on a craw patterned Rat-L-Trap.
I am posting the Stafford report here because there is no other place to post, and Nicasio is closest...
City: NovatoTips: Would like to see more posts for this lake, and for Stafford... Webmaster please take note

Oroville Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: headed out around 10am sunday, fished the middle fork and parts of the main lake till around 5. NO bites, not even one. Threw everything at em. Drop shot, darter heads, jigs, rip baits, etc. Tried fishing in shallower water and deep water, anywhere from 5-35 feet. Tried fishing slow, no bites, and fast, no reaction bites. Went out on a buddys boat that wasnt really equipped. No fish finder (pretty tough without one this time of year). So not really sure what the temp was, but it was still very cold. THe visibility was good, clear for about 12 feet. Saw one guy catch one drop shotting in about 25 feet of water. Didnt talk to anyone else, but there were a good amount of people fishing, but no one seemed to stay in any one place longer than twenty minutes (so i am guessing they were having similar problems finding a pattern). All in all, despite the coporation of the fish, beautiful day, even got a tan.
City: san franciscoTips: Dont go fishing without a depth finder. Need to find that warmer water this time of the year. And find where the fish are holding in the thermocline.

Shadow Cliffs Lake
-
Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished some of that gin clear water on Shadow and ended up with a good limit and a fat girl that was getting a lot of interest from the little males arround her. A fat gitzit and a drop shot was the ticket. I posted the pic of the fatty and all were released, no gut hooked fish. Lots of fish shallow today, catfish carp and some really big trout. I saw one trout swimming off with someones leader hanging from it's jaw. I only saw one 10+ bass today.

Shasta Lake

Water Temp: 51-57
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: great day on the squaw, 10 spots 2-4 to 3-6 brown and chartrouse w/ char tail 4 or 6 inch 1/8 oz dart w/ blood hook.
3- 10 ft. of water.
City: reddingTips: let fall then shake that tail momma
-
Water Temp: 51-54
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: What a great day, my son-in-law and I went out for a full day on our great Lake Shasta and it didn't dissapoint. Throwing blue/salt and pepper soft curl tail grubs, on the steepest banks we could find, adjacent to 40 to 80 feet of water, let the grub slowly sink to the bottom and don't move it for 10 seconds then hop it and repeat, this dead stick method brought us 30 spots, to 2.5 pounds and they are such great fighters that on light line, and medium action spinning takle, what a great day. The shade seemd to produce better than the sun side and the lake is very clear. It is the beggining of the great spring fishing we have grown accustomed to here at Shasta. Fish came out of 10 to 20 feet of water.
City: ReddingTips: Let the lure dead stick on the rocks for a while before moving it, any resistance set the hook, and hang on. Have a great day fishing.

Sonoma Lake
-
Water Temp: 56F-59F
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished morning to early afternoon in a float tube at Yorty. Caught one fish on a darter jig, a 1.5 lber in 6 feet of water near wood. Great day, upper 70's, no wind, lot's of families out fishing.
City: San FranciscoTips: The water is still muddy, barely two feet visibility. If you're jigging, you gotta be right on top of them.

Trinity Lake
-
Water Temp: 46
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Here are the results of the Mar 10 Jason Fisher Memorial Scholarship Tournament. Only 7 boats showed and the fishing was very tough, but, as usual someone unlocked the secret. Tim Brady Sr. (of state record smallie fame) and Steve Gildesgard (from Dragonfly Enterprizes Tackle shop in Weaverville) took it all. They weighed in a four bass limit weighing 19.73lbs. Their winning weight included an 8.21 LM and a 5.11 Smallie. Of the 7 teams, only 7 other fish were weighed. Randy McDaniels and Curt Gibson finished 2nd with 4 fish weighing 10.71 and had a smallie well over 4 lbs. Johnny Mac and I had 3 smallies for 7.16. That was it.
City: WeavervilleTips: There is a lesson in this. When you find an area that you have confidence in, fish it. Tim and Steve didn't start their big engine all day, and never moved more that 100 yds from their spot.... No matter how hard the rest of us tried to pressure them off of it.
