      Water Temp: 82-84 North

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the late afternoon , night and Sunday the 8th. The fishing has slowed down to about 1/3 over the past 3 weeks. The water has turned a tea colored brown since last weekend. Don't know if this had antything to do with the bite slow down. I did not catch any fish after dark and quit at 11:30pm , too long a week at work. The moon came out about 12:30 so perhaps the bite turned on the second part of the night. Sunday produced about 20 or so keepers but unlike the past 3 weeks I had to work a bit for these.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: The fish I had been on moved a little deeper and seemed a bit more scattered. 15-27 feet. The crawfish color that wound up in my live well are orange with a little red and tan. Drop shot fat boy minnows in pearch about 12 inch's up worked best. A few jig fish, 2 crank bait fish, nothing on top. Biggest fish 3.4 lbs. Gotta pre fish the Delta so I will not be back to Clear Lake for awhile. There were alot of boats this last weekend and it would be nice to hear how everyone else did.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished North and South Lake for a couple of hours. Stuck a large (5lb)LMB on a black/blue 3/8 oz jig with purple ribbontail trailer. Caught and released immediately. The fish are here - just have to be patient.

Did see one gentleman with a 12 lb catfish at one of the piers along the South Lake...
      City: Daly City, CA

Tips: Fish baits deep off of tule points and drop offs. Look for spots along the bank away from the trout fishermen. Fish slowly and downsize when they don't bite.

      Water Temp: Not Tested

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Its tough to fish san pablo now a days been there for a few hours @ oak point caught 3 trout and 1 bass 1.5lbs on a banjo minnow 4hrs that all I got I wonder where is the hot spot right now any idea? well I'm gonna try again next sunday hopefully luck will change.... Anyway after San Pablo I went straight to get some perch boy was there a perch?! I caught 20+ range 10oz-2.5lbs took home 5 went total 11lbs and thats in less than 3hrs of fishing. thight lines.
      City: San Francisco

Tips: Before you go fishing try to pass by at any bait and tackle shop close where you live ask for some spot and hot bite. they'll be happy to help you. Perch bite is "RED HOT" just don't forget to bring 2"-3" plastic grubs motor oil and most important is you "tide book" that makes a lot of difference...

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Water Dropped quite a bit in the last few weeks and a lot clearer too. Launched at 8am to blue bird skies and rising temp. Tough day for me but scraped up 4 but no size. Marked a lot of suspended fish. Off the water at 11:30 since it looked like a fricking jet ski party out there.
      City: San Carlos

Tips: Flipped any visible cover to start and got two dinks on a big cut tail. As it warmed up threw a c-rig deep and got another one. Threw a deep crank and got another one. I was all over the place even though its pretty small. Not much to say, hard for me to figure out. Get a reservation and get off the water before everyone shows up.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Overall had a great day. keeps getting hotter and hotter.Suppost to getting a little cooling trend. Frog bite is crazy right now. I cant believe how good the cranking bite was today. Bluegill speedtraps are the ticket. low tide outside weed edge. I ripped them. One quarter mile stretch had close to 17lbs for five just on cranks
      City: Boraga

Tips: Cranks and frogs are hot. At least for today. WOrth trying out. Not my normal pattern but it will work. Need to key in on some solid frog spots for the snag proof tourney

      Water Temp: 71-75 deg

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: fished bishop slough with jim ryan at 5:30am with frogs, buzz and spinner baits, no fish. cut over to white with frogs, speed traps and buzz baits, no fish. at 11:am we were at little potato near h & h marina and found 7 largies with a purple/black jig with a yamamoto grub in purple along the rock banks behind the weeds. no curent at all to find in the delta. used senkos in watermellon/black flake, missed six or more in white slough from 2-4pm, used frogs also no fish. when does this good frog bite start. its hard to a partern tide movement.
      City: rocklin

Tips: work rocky banks with jigs, white frogs and senkos behind weeds, sometime the space is only 5-10 ft on low tides like today.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out Early AM 10 1-2lbs- Green Yamamoto Senkos seemed to be the diet of the morning for 10 big mouths- and 15 or misses- need to sharpen the hooks
      City: Stockton

      Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out from 7-10 am with my brother again. Really had to work to catch 12 bass between the both of us. Several were 10-12 inches long but all were fat and healthy. One big one was about 2.5#. The blue sky and warm weather drove the fish deep. No bites on topwater baits, no spinner bait bite. We started tossing shad colored grubs and started catching them but we kept switching colors between blue pearl/black flake or smoke/silver grubs.
      City: San Jose

Tips: C-rig grubs or swim the grubs after initial drop

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Caught the Big Skunk at Coyote 8/7/04. Fished the S. end in the PM (float tubes), soft platics offered into the abundant cover. Nothing. Likewise for my main man Jay Hann. Had a hit or two w/ no hook-up. Tried the weeds w/ a white Sumo frog, nada. It was pretty hot that weekend, the bass must have been waiting for night. .
      City: Belmont, CA

Tips: Persistence! The bass are in there....

      Water Temp: 73.9 - 74.2

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: WOW, started out with a bang!!! First stop Mormom Island Dam, second cast with a Buzzbait a nice fat Smallie, four casts later a clone!! another fat Smallie bout 1 3/4 lb. HMMMM a pattern? Not Buzzbaited and cranked for about a hour no more!! Moved to a off shore rockpile that Folsom rats know about with these low water conditions on the main body. Fish and bait everywhere!! Dartheaded a nice spot bout two lb.HMMM nothing but decent keepers and it is still only 7:30. Did a lot of moving and graphing of fish but nadda on the main body.

Ran to my favorite wall just before Jack's, wrong Idea the water not right and the skiers/jet skiers are thick in the South Fork ALREADY!! HMMM made me think I better go back to near the ramp at Hobie to take a peak!!! The ramp was ten boats deep and looking ominous, I chose to get off the water by 8:45.

I did do a dock talk to a gent that wanted a point I was buzzing early in the morning, take this for what it's worth I put no credence to it!

He asked if I was staying? No I replied, He stated he had been getting 3's and 4's with one 7 off this particular point in 4 -6 feet of water!! HMMMM water dropping a foot a day fish on the bank!!! Like I said take it for wahti's worth. One thing I will say with these low water level's the fish are going to be congegated and easier to catch this fall and real easier come Winter!!!
      City: sacramento

Tips: Stick with the tradinational Fosom patterns TOpwater early then find the drop offs and rock piles!!! It is going to be a really fun Fall and Winter with these low water conditions. Back out on Sunday!! See ya there get it early and leave unless you love lake lice and wake board maggots!!

Report: Went out to fish today for the first time at this lake because I heard of the recent bass plant. I fished from 7 AM to 2:30 PM.
I thought I gonna get skunked. I tried almost all my lures and worms.
I thought for sure the senkos would work, but they didn't work texas rigged.
I decided to try drop-shotting them wacky style, then BAMB! On my second cast toward the middle of the lake I get this 17in bass! I didn't keep it. I just took a picture and let her go!
      City: American Canyon

Tips: Drop-shot wacky style w/4-inch senkos. They didn't like the 5 in.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: WOW! I went out with John Gray, "The Maine Guide." I think you can safely call him "The MAIN Guide." I have been out on numerous trips over the years with bass guides, and I can safely say none have been as great as John. It is really a shame he does not get as much positive press as lesser guides I've been with on Berryessa, Collins and Clear Lake.

We landed 10+ smallies on Saturday in less than idea fishing conditions. I had low expectations as it is August. In just a few more hours on Sunday we landed a few more including two 3+ pounders.

If you are thinking about fishing this lake ... go out with John. He knows this treasure lake like the back of his hand. The fishing, scenery, wildlife, and education is well worth the price. I just cannot stress this enough.

We caught fish with crank baits, topwater Pop-Rs, jigs, and rubber worms & grubs. John put me onto my first topwater, crankbait and drop-shot catches of my life. This lake is well worth the drive!

      Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: If any of you readers are contemplating on getting out to Clear Lake, get there ASAP!!
I had the pleasure of hitting the Lake with guide Len Kovats of Wheatland. He said he would put us on some fish and boy did he deliver that promise. We started off in Jago Bay first thing in the morning. Within the first hour we had a limit that went about 18#'s. Wow was the bait on. A chartruse blade and a brown jig was the ticket. Next we headed over to Sunshine shore. Within ten minutes we had a pair of five pounders in the boat, all out of less that two feet of water, unbelievable. Next we fished Red Bud. It was hot too! Three and four pounders just seemed to jump in the boat. He hit Windflower pt. and got on to a pretty good pattern of four and five pounders on both the jig and a deep diving crank. We also fished Henderson pt. where the crank bite was HOT!! Every five casts or so were were pullin in three to four pounders. Got a nice 6#+ out of an off shore rock pile by Rattlesnake island. We ended the day back in Jago Bay where we cranked the hell out of them. Wow what a day!! We ended up with the best five going 27#. Too many fish to count. We were culling 4.5# fish. I know those four and five pounders aren't much (What Clear Lake can normally produce), but I never tire of catching those, they fill a day nicely. Great fishing, Great guide, great day! Thanks Len, it is definately a day for the books. After a day like that, I am still left with one question though, When can we go again??
If anyone is interested in a guided trip to Clear Lake with Len please e-mail me and I can pass on the information. Thanks-now go rip some lips!
      E-MAN
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Focus on rocks!(expecially around reeds and grass) and gravel bottoms. The wind was blowing (surprise) and the fish were within 1'-10' of the wind blown shore. (Key) A medium retrieve on both the blades and crank seemed to work the best. Throw a jig!! Brown or black-doesn't matter. We paired them with many different Yamamoto grubs and caught fish all day. Len also had a little secret thing he does-but you'll have to talk to him about that! GOOD LUCK.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: hey Juan, what did you use and where(depth) did you catch your fish, I've gone 5 times(@night) with nothing.
I agree the rules are set for a reason lets all do our best to obey them and another thing hooking a fish deep in its throat doesn't automaticly mean cut the the line.
I have lost a couple fish when they couldn't equal out and they would float, Tips?
      City: fresno

Tips: for a fish hooked deep: use locking pliers and grab the eye of the hook from behind (through the gills) the fish and carefully bring the eye of the hook out through the gills. Then let the pliers hang(locking) and with other pliers go in through the mouth and grab the stright cruve of the hook and work it out carefully. Unlock the hanging pliers and FREE the fish with no questions.Thank you!

Report: Got on the water at 3 AM, with little wind. Caught a mix of spots and largemouth. Cranked a couple off the dam with the rest coming on a drop shotted worm between 4 -6 AM. Between my dad and I we ended up with about 20-22 bass with the best one going 5 lbs.
      City: Visalia

Tips: Dark colored worms drop shotted around the dam. Should be turning on soon.

      Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday, 8/5, in the morning. Tried a lot of stuff without success, and then hit'em on a wacky-rigged black with blue flake 4" Senko in a weed bed. Caught four bass from a little over a pound to almost two pounds. Lake is still falling slowly.
Fished again Saturday, 8/6, in the morning. I tried Friday's pattern (wacky Senko in a weed-bed) first thing and caught a nice bass on second cast (in a different weed-bed). That was it for me for the day. My son, John, caught five bass on 5" green pumpkin with black flake Senko and a couple on Rapala DT-10 bluegill finish crankbaits.
      City: Monterey

Tips: The bass are there, mostly in and around the weed-beds, but they are finicky. They'll ignore your lures until you give'em what they want. Keep trying different presentations and different colors within presentations until you hit on what they want that day.

      Water Temp: 80.1

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: front moving through, overcast and pleasantly cool. in at Packers at 1910, no activity at the ramp with a 6 knot wind out of the south, ran up the Sac about half way where i was on some better fish the last time out, got to the same spot and no fish, move around a bit and find some aobut a 1/2mile away all stacked up on a steep rock wall and get a good one on that went 2.56 on a 1 ounce jig with a B and S melon pepper twin tail, continued throwing for a bit on this spot and only one more tap. moce south fishig the same kind of stuff and found more fish but nothing would go. ran back south hitting a few humps, some up and some just about to come up and not another single bump, very little traffic and the sheriff was out. Went back towards Packers and stopped on another hump that was loaded with fish but again, no takers. Back at the ramp at 2210, air temp in at 81 coming out at 71 with a slight push out of the north. I thought the pressure drop was going to make for a good bite but it managed to only suspend the fish. Again the fish were deeper than normal, my only fish came out of 28ft at 2004 hours.
      City: Redding

Tips: thougth I had it figured out, beats me.
