Del Valle Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: 5" inch watermelon roboworm drop shot got me a nice 3-pound smally in about 20' of water at the drop off by Hetch Hetchy Group camp area around 2pm on July 3. The wind was blowing 10-15 MPH but didn't keep the fish from biting. I was simply drifting and had 3 bites but boated only one. But that one put up and good fight and made the day worthwhile. Del Valle is a great bass lake.
City: San LeandroTips: Fish deep along dropoffs. Bass are deep this time of the year.

-
Lexington Lake
-
Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The fish are killing shad like crazy right now. I don't even bother float tubing. If the weather is hot the fishing is too. I fished it 4 times last week from the shore on the 17 side. Plastic bite is slow and you catch a lot of dinks but there are quite a few 2+ lb footballs lurking out there. Tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jerkbaits, nothing works. It's all about rattletraps, vary your retrieve, fish the flats and the points.
City: Santa CruzTips: TIP: Put bigger, better trebles on your lures or you will lose fish! Stock hooks suck on rattletraps. Evening bite is on, Broad daylight has been good too. Tight Lines. Z

New Hogan Lake
-
Water Temp: 77 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Okay Hogan fisherman, It has been a long time since i have seen any reports for this res. Tried searching for the surface bite for stripes was pretty dead yet maybe in a couple of weeks.
Went out mid day and fished the rock walls and main points for blacks.
Even though the boat traffic was insane I managed to catch some pretty nice fish about eight from 2-5lbs These fish are some pretty strong fighters. Been fishing the Delta so long I forgot what it was like to have fun out on the lake.
Caught all the fish throwing plastics.
Success to all,
Phil
City: TracyTips: Fish hard even though the sun is smokin hot!

Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: ??
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished Pardee the first time this year and it was a slow day for us. We boated a total of about 10 bass in all, a couple spots and the rest L.M., no smallies. All fish came in about 30 feet of water near shaded areas on downsized finess baits, with a couple on crankbaits. The water was so clear you could see about 30 feet deep, and that didn't help us out any.
City: StocktonTips: Not much in the way of tips other than to downsize bait and line diameter. Green colors worked for us on the few we caught.

Uvas Lake
-
Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I don't think there are any stripers here. Fished from about 7am to 12pm. Tried top waters for about an hour with no takers. Tried casting and retreiving a grub on a p-head. got nothing on that either. Tried a magic worm c-rigged and picked up 2 dinks and 1 about 2#. Tried a Senko from the boat launch area and hooked one about 3#. Caught another dink from the same area on the c-rig. Tried a brush hog along the bank by uvas road and got another about 1.5#.
City: san joseTips: apparantly the fish were at or near the bottom. The main "cover" at this lake is probably on the bottom- changes in bottom contour, rocks, old creek beds etc.

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: Didn't even che
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Stevie "Guitar" Miller, fireworks, and a wide open drop-shot bite!Man,what a cool 4th of July! After the party on the water(there must have been over 500 boats),wife and I motored South and tied off at windsock point(don't know the official name). They have placed a steel pole w/flashing light and ROCK sign at it last week.We fished until the moon came up big over the hills, when I decided to sleep for a while. The self appointed drop-shot queen of Clearlake continued to splash my face with bass thrashing in the water until she got tired of unhooking them, at least 25 fish from the same spot! They went from tourney keepers to over 5lbs.and it didn't even make a difference what color ya used. They're also on the jig bite pretty good.4th of July on Clearlake, highly recommended, just watch out for drunk a-holes in boats! God bless America,Rich.
City: Hidden Valley Lakes(Middletown)Tips: We used purple neon, rythem & blues, arrons magic, and what ever old stuff I had in worm bag. All nose hooked w/14" leader.Brown jigs w/dark trailer seemed to work good too. Also, pinch down barbs on drop-shot rigs to make it easier on all dem bass so they can become Clearlake trophies!

Contra Loma Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: went out to try for some crappie, at the lake at 8am, tried crappie jigs on bobbers, without bobbers, with snap shots. no takers, saw some bass swimming by the shore. pitched the jigs at them and got one taker, didn't weight him but he was about 17 inches long, too him and went him to eat. yummy.
City: AntiochTips: wasn't bass fishing but they are out there

Del Valle Lake
-
Water Temp: 72-75
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Lake is as full as you will see it this time of year. Mellow morning with light boat traffic..We started at 6am and worked our way from the narrows to the Dam. Two nice fish early, one on topwater that went close to 6 and second on a jig that was a solid 5. Few more topwater fish and a couple on the dropshot and jig in the top 20ft and things started to die with the heavy holiday boat traffic around 10am..Lake is in good shape and we cought a mix of smallies and largemouth. Weekdays are best with the topwater lasting until late morning in some areas. Tons of bait in the top 10ft with suspended bass right under. We cought all of our fish on main lake points with deep water adjecent. Half day and off the water by noon. PopR,#208 hula grub, shad drop shot baits worked for us.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 69-72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This weekends boat traffic was slower than I would have expected for a holiday weekend..Last few trips on the Delta have been up on the Sac River starting at Vierra's and going all directions from there with fair to excellent fishing depending on water conditions.. Best bite for us has been low outgoing. Fishing heavy jigs on channel bend breaks with deep wood and fast current. Heavy tackle is also critical so you can get back most of your hang ups and have the abilty to turn fish out of the junk once bit. 10-18' has been the ticket and just keep the bait moving and bumping thru cover. Brown/Green jigs or hulas. 1/2-3/4oz. can't get a good topwater bite going on the smallmouth but if you want numbers they will eat blades and cranks thrown in the likely spots..for quality in the 3lb class and a few bigger than that stay with jigs. You'll lose some jigs in deep wood/rock so bring plenty.

Chabot Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I've had a little luck at Indian Cove with crankbaits. Small fish, pound to pound and a half. Haven't seen any big cruisers. Plastics have been slow for me. Bass seem to be in 4-5 feet of water, near rocky shoreline or weed beds. I wish there was a way for a bunch of bass fisherman to pitch in and have the lake stocked with thousands of big bass, as well as more bluegill and crappie. Make the lake a real fishing lake. I'll contribute money for the cause. And we need to make it mandatory to catch and release until the lake becomes a great bass lake.
City: danville, caTips: Reel slow and pray for hot weather.

-
Coyote Lake
-
Water Temp: unknown
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the South end of Coyote for the PM bite, 4:30 to 8:00 PM, float tubing. Weeds are heavy in this part of the lake, so float tubers may want to plow through the marsh area at the end of the lake and avoid having to go through/around the weeds. Nothing on a senko, spinnerbait, or small swimbait for the first three hours, frustrating day w/ fairly high winds. Tossed a Texas-rigged Brush Hawg into trees, etc., and nailed a nice 4 pounder at about 7:50 PM. I would have kept fishing, but during the battle with the bass, my tube was punctured and I started losing air. I'm a pro, people! Had to head for the shore. So, caught a nice fish, but had a few battle wounds to show for it.
City: Belmont, CATips: Plastics into heavy cover, this is always a good strategy for S. end, see below reports if you won't take my word for it. For those of you who are frogging enthusiasts (I am planning on trying it soon), those weeds in the S. end look like paradise.
HEY, IF YOU FISH COYOTE, POST A REPORT. KEEP THE BASS FISHING COMMUNITY INFORMED

Lower Otay Lake
-
Water Temp: 75 degreez
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished for bass in most of the coves on the east side, then switched to the west coves. Tried Harvey's matted grass with no luck. Found that the matted coves are the best spot to pull them in. We ended up pulling in several bass (13", 9", 16" and 12"), not sure how heavy, forgot my scale at home. We were using crankbaits at the top, nightcrawlerz on the bottom and a drop rig setup in the weedz.
City: OtayTips: Get started early in the covez, take a break during the afternoon (or fish deep), then go back to the covez in the evening...good luck, see y'all next time my fella' critterz.
