Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Pine Flat today, from 9AM until 4PM. Had to work real hard for 7 fish. 6 spots and 1 LM, all 11-14 inches.. Caught all fish past trimmer in about 45 ft of water. Only thing that worked was a prizm shad roboworm on a dropshot. Blanked on jigs, spoons,SB, etc. Spent alot of the day cruising and staring at the graph looking for fish but saw very few, much less bunched up. Water was very calm and all in all a nice day on the water.

      Water Temp: 50 - 51.6

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Hit the lake this weekend, to try my luck for the first fishing trip of the year. Water stained in the feeder creeks form the rain runoff, the main lake was clear with > 4 foot vis. To say it was tough would be an understatement...winds 15-20 knots, rough for my light boat, metered fish from 20 - 90 fish, only got a few nibbles in about 25 feet near the bridge. Tried drop shot, spoons (using some of Mr. Rippas tech, or what i've read) and carolina rigs. Treid varying hte spoon vertical presentation to no avail. Couldn't stay on the fish I metered due to the wind. hope someone else had better luck. Was the first boat on the water at 0700, next ones didn't arrive for another hour. Didn't see anyone pull in any fish, not even the trouters. Even threw the crank bait of choice with no takers. I thought the wind would be helpful in the bite, but was sadly mistaken. Always next week..
      City: Lompoc

Tips: Tried 5 different colors, styles, with only one nibble at the bridge.

Don't loose any rod/reels like I did. Good thing it was old. Now have an excuse to get a better drop shot rod/reel combo.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I fished today from 6-noon and only caught one fish. I had a hard time locating the baitfish that were there a few days ago. I fished shallow to deep but no luck. The only one was 2-13 and took a small swimbait. I'm wondering if anybody out there is having better luck than I am.
      City: Exeter

Tips: I don't have any, but I talked to another fisherman yesterday that said he caught ten fish using grubs and throwing them in bushes at 5'-don't know what color. Good luck.

      Water Temp: 58 Deg.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Lake had a strange feel to it like a bomb went off due to the recent wind storm. Docks floating freely, lots of trees toppled over, and fishing real slow. Fish went real deep. Seems as though they were on the shad at 30+ feet. Missed two short strikes on flukes fished deep but other than that no other action. Did see alot of guys throwing swim baits but did not see if they were doing any good.

      Water Temp: 54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took a break from all the Xmas days to try and relax with a day to check out Lopez for a January meet. Water is visably down as the reeds under the bridge are in clear view now and almost impossible to navigate deeper into the reeds. Headed out towards Vasquesz area for some more training on Professor Ripa's school of 'jig spoonin'. Not to many takers as I dropped in the 55 foot range where fish were showing in hopes of utilizing some of Ripa's methods, Pulled up a few 10" 1-1/2 pounders but nothing bigger. Tossed a Spyder Grub in 26-30 foot with two takers both smallies. Weater reallt started to change and I never did get out of my snow suit. Thinking a possible chance of showers, I feel the baramator chenged the fish habits and they were really off the bite today. All in all it was still a good day to practice.
      City: Santa Maria

Tips: Should have went Saturday as I hear the bite was better.

      Water Temp: 50~52

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished 8hrs over 2 days with a friend visiting from Canada, and found several fish willing to eat worms and grubs from a depth range of 2ft~20ft. Color didn't seem to matter much, however, green pumpkin and water melon colors were favored in my boat! Big fish, and my first fish of winter, came on a 3" kalins grub in 2 ft of water at 5pm, a 3.7# spot, 21 inches long, measured from a golden rule.
      City: Santa Clara

Tips: don't be shy to fish shallow, a lot of smaller fish (10"~14") are actively feeding throughout the day (for us anyway) down to 15ft, and larger fish were located tight to the bank (low light hrs) where deep water access is near.

      Water Temp: 54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The bite is pretty good for naci right now, but definitely not great. We had a good number of shorts, but few keepers. Biggest fish was probably only 1.5. Most of the fish came on plastics - drop shot or jigs. Interestingly, the last time we were up the split shot far outfished the drop shot, and now it's the opposite. Several topwater fish too. We did not fish much else. It looks like the water is steadily dropping, although it's still high for this time of year. Shad were holding pretty deep - didn't see any real surface activity. We found fish from 0 - 25 feet. We spent most of our time on main lake flats with edges. Wished we'd spent more time looking back in the coves. Finding the nicer fish is definitely key - you can go catch shorts here just about any time. Minimal wind, few skiers, and a decent number of bassers on the water.

Tips: Look around til you find 'em.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The lake has finally turned over. There is good color to the water and the swimbait bite is getting going. The guys that are getting the swimbait fish are claiming their limits are 12 to 14 lbs. These fish have evaded me so far. Worms and jigs fished in 15 to 30 feet of water are getting 8 to 10 pound limits. My partner and I went out today and caught about 20 fish. Jim had the largest fish, a spot that weighed 3.19 lbs. He caught it drop shotting a YUM Dinger. Our best 5 went a little over 10 lbs.
      City: Paso Robles

Tips: 1/2 oz. jigs on the rocks a good bet. Fish them slow and deep. Go see Jim at Jim's Pro Bass Tackle in Paso Robles for the best colors.

Report: Fished Friday and Saturday. It was VERY cold both mornings, but both days turned out beautiful. Fishing was slow. Caught four on Friday and two Saturday. Tried a variety of techniques, but all fish were caught by dragging a jig very slowly in 15-20 feet of water. No fish worth bragging about, but all were chunky and healthy.
      City: Vandenberg AFB

Tips: Dress warm if you go out in the morning. Fish slowly around rocky points.

Report: Bite was slow. Fish were on rock. No reaction fish. We didn't see any shad boils or bird action. The lake is LOW, and there's lots of structure to see.
Active fish were on the bottom, or tight to walls.
      City: los angeles

Tips: Fish slow. Bite can be just a pickup.

Brown jigs and 194 watermelon single tail yamamoto 5" grub work well here also brown/purple jigs with a 221 cinnamon w/purple flake single tail 5" grub also is a good choice. Drop shot purple death worms bass are in 30 to 50 feet of water here also. Traffic is very light here and there should be another trout plant after the new year here also.559-673-5151

Report: Fished from 6am to 12pm. Caught 7 with the biggest being 13". Found fish at 35-45' of off points. Not a bite after 8:30am. I think the storm had something to do with it.
      City: Exeter

Tips: I caught all fish on a dropshot. Threw everything at them, but couldn't get bit after early morning. Anyone else out there having any luck?

      Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The bite has been a little tougher here. There are fish from 30 to 70 feet on drop shots in shad colors and small spoons. With the right weather, wind, overcast, rip baits in trout or shad color will work. Jigs in craw colors are working between 25-40 feet. Very light bite. Caught a few slow rolling a tail spinner at about 40 feet. There are fish on sever different patters right now. Today, most fish were suspended in about 30 feet. The only fish we caught today were in about 60 feet. Good luck
      City: fresno

Tips: If you have wind and overcast dont be afraid to throw a rip bait. Bass have been chasing trout around the banks. Otherwise find fish on your electronics and drop right on top of them in 50-70 feet.
