Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A note to Mike - keep throwing 'em back... you're doing the right thing. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a trophy. You mentioned you've got pictures. Next time take the weight measurements too (girth and length) along with the photos or markings and ship them o to someone that does iberglass mounts. We ound a guy in Fullerton at the Fred Hall show that does incredible work. Honestly, they look more like real ish than the live mounts I've seen. But be careul, I've seen some really truly hurrendous iberglass mounts too. I'm not here to advertise - so I won't post the guy's name here. I you're interested just send me an e-mail and I'll send you his contact ino. Also wanted to ask you guys what the best time o year was or a trip to the lake. Last year my buddy and I had the best trip I could imagine with a 7+ and a 5+ in the same day. Not a lot o numbers though and my partner wasn't so lucky. We were there the weekend beore Memorial Day weekend. Is there a better time or numbers o ish or weather??Thanks.

Isabella Lake

Water Temp: 45-50
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The Bass all went to Arizona or the winter. They will be back when the water temp reaches about 55.There is a good amount o snow up in the high contry so the run o will be substantial. The cowbird issue was over turned by the legal system, so there is no longer a 335,000 acre t. limit. The lake is about 6 t.lower than it was at this time last year. Rocky point is not producing the ish it did last year because o waterdepth. A 16+ was caught on the big trout in Jan. It is getting mounted. It ate the bait and the bait could not beremoved. The lake is healthy again ater the summer die o. The die o did not eect the big bass. Mostly crappieand squaw ish. Two 7lb. sisters caught on jigs 2/16.
City: KernvilleTips: White cranks deep. Watermellon red lake dropshot in 36+. The big trout on hot sunny aternoons. Don't orget jig & pig.

Report: Despite wind and rain, was able to put together a semi productive day. Main lake points seemed to be the productive pattern. Working 4" and 6" plastics on darters very slowly. Bite was very subtle. Was able to pull up a couple on blades later in the aternoon when some color developed on wind blown bank. About 20 ish in total between two o us. All spots, no smallies or blacks.
City: HanordTips: 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz darters depending on wind with dark color plastics. From bank to 15 t. Work slow.

Shasta Lake
-
Water Temp: 49
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Bailey Cove at 6:30. Fished the McCloud all day.My buddy and I caught 33 ish on the day. We didn't catch many big ish, but not many real dinks either. 1.15,1.13,1.10 and 1.8 were the big ish. Every ish was taken on 39 colored worms. Couldn't get bit on the Hula grubs that had been working well in the past couple o weeks. Many o our ish were taken in 10 eet o water or less. Reddish brown banks with rocky points were the key to the more shallow ish.
City: Redding,CaTips: Fish very slowly. Sometimes just let the worm lay on the bottom ater shaking it or a while. Can't beat a 39 worm.

Water Temp: 47
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished a tournament on Sunday, shasta Cascade bass anglers. Did very well, I won it. The ish are on the move they are hungry, and are changing there locations dailey,so you have to look or them and pay attention to the subtleties o nature. Nature will tell you what she is doing i you liston. Last weekend I got second place in the sunday redding bassers, and I sat on one point or 5 hour culling two pounders by noon. This sunday things changed I couldn't catch anything on that point. So I had to go look or ish and just started down the bank,I couldn't ind any good ish on the points, they had moved to the cuts and on the washouts.I never caught two good keeper on one spot. I just targeted the same structure every place I ished. Unortunatly I lost a six pound pluse ish at the boat reaching or my net. Would have liked to weigh that one in. Caught everything on jigs in the mouth on the Sac. Brown on Brown. Try throwing them to the bank and shacking them all the way back to the boat and hold your boat in 50 eet o water.Stopped to take a brake and drop shotted three ish and none o them were as big as the jig ish.
City: ReddingTips: Throw jigs, jigs and more jigs. Try shacking the hell out o them.

Water Temp: 50-52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Head o to Franks Tract about 7 am and started ishing the outer tule banks where the water seemed clearer with a little current low. Once the sun hit - about 8 am - we started having some luck in the shallows where it was still pretty clear and there was some depth nearby. Landed three (1.9, 5.1, 1.7) and missed others. Ater the conditions changed we went exploring up in Potato slough as conditions dropped towards low tide and caught a ew others to 2 lbs. ishing tule points where depth was present. Nice to have a good day ishing and catching or a change.
City: Union CityTips: While most strikes were rom senko's - all were ishing in the clearest water with depth on the other side o our boat. We ished close and quiet and caught them at the tule edge as well as in the irst set o weeds.

I ended up squeaking out a small limit but the ish were deinitely not active. one cranking, one split shotting, one on a jig and two shaking. how's that or a pattern??? my limit weighed just under 7.4 lb. and the tourney winner had 4 ish or around 8.8 lb. the winner said he cranked all o his ish but the bite shut down by 8:00 or so. not a bite ater that. sorry, not much inormation but this lake is going to turn on any day now. the water temp was a ull 2 degrees warmer than last week.

Let the main body to go up the Bear arm and ish the steep walls and had no luck at all. Ater two hours o skunk decided to go back to the main body and ish the warmer coves.Water got up to 53 deg. and I had a great time ishing the brush and trees. Any tree or bush in seven oot or more o water seemed to hold ish. I ished that pattern or about two hours and caught ive more, all told a nine ish day.

Collins Lake

Water Temp: 49
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Due to a noncooperative boat we didn't get out Friday until the aternoon or a couple o hours (1:30 to 3:30). The weather was unstable most o the weekend, spotty showers and a light breeze Friday which made or an interesting blade bite that didn't hold through Saturday. A small club tournament produced ish to 2.5 lbs, with most ranging around 1.5 lbs. Rocky points were the best producer with sot plastics in 15' to 25', imagine that? A ew ish were a tad bit more aggressive taking an occasional rip bait, blade etc... ...but not requent enough to ill a live-well on Saturday.
City: San JoseTips: Now wouldn't that take all o the un out o the hunt? Ok, only or the kids, green weanies ished too slow or me will stretch your lines rom time to time. Good luck and Happy Hook'in...

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well, what should I do? The last ew weeks at D.V. have not been what I am used to. Last winter at this time 25 to 35 ish days were the norm. Two weeks ago I spent all day at D.V. and had 3 bites and missed them all. My irst time skunked at this lake in probably 8 or 9 years. The 2 trips prior I scratched 3 or 4 bass. No trout or salmon on the troll. No catish on stink baits and not even the sign o a striper near those big plugs I have been tossing. The water is cold and still pretty high or D.V. at this time o the year. The good thing is it is not the color o coee. The lake has retained some o its beautiul green tint.Well, I was thinking Amador, New Melones or D.V. Once again I chose D.V., as you just can
Tips: Go deep!

Folsom Lake

Water Temp: 50-53'F
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hello again. My buddy Chris and I headed out a little late. We got on the water around 9:30 am. We started out on the penisula. The wind was a little strong, so we worked Beale's point. Nothing. It wasn't until the wind died down that we caught ish. We eventually went back to the penisula when the wind died, and there we roped some nice ish. Working the rock pile and the shoreline. I caught 3 nice ish. 2 spots and a 2.5 lb smallie. I love those smallies. Chris hooked into a couple o nice spots also. The ish seemed to be a little more aggressive as the weather gets a little warmer. This may be the year or a BIG ONE. Lets hope. I'll see ya out on the water. Look or team Rope a Dope.lol. Good catchin.
City: RosevilleTips: Chris used split shot worm, and I caught all mine on a split shot tube(browns and black leck). Slow rollin and hoppin it every now and again. Check lines or kinks, I lost a nice one due to that act.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished around the main rec area. Trying out my new swim bait. Its got good action but nothing was hitting it. Decided to go to the handicap dock and drop shot some 4" worms. Hoping or maybe a shaker or two. That i was snagged in the tules but hooked up with a solid 3 pounder. Very surprising! Fished around the whole dock with an uplited conidence, went back to the same spot and hooked up with a 2 pounder! One o my best winter days rom shore in a long time or this lake.
City: MoragaTips: Small worms, color doesnt seem to matter. Catch and Release.
