Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 62-66
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at the spillway and headed south and the junk in the water was bank to bank or about 1/2 mile to the second bridge. Once you got past the bridge, into the willows, the junk was gone and the ish were there. It was nothing short o AWESOME today and decided to throw a blade around the trees and any type o rock and practically every cast resulted in a ish in the 2-3 pound range. When I threw to the bank, I hit the rock and rolled it in the water and many were right there and the deepest water in that area had to be about 3 eet. Pulling back rom the bank and throwing around the shallow willows with a medium retrieve resulted in quality strikes as they were suspended about 3 t rom the surace. Finally let that area and went as ar south as water would let me and had a ield day with line stretchers on small darthead and grub. Talked to a couple guys down the south branch and they stated they had a terriic morning ripping o which I tried very briely without success....then quickly went back to blades or some more un. Just one o those days you wait all winter or and be sure to wear shorts as it got hot real early. With the exception o 2 smallies, all were spots. Oroville is wide open right now!!!!!!!!
City: WheatlandTips: Was throwing a chartruese/white, 3/8oz dual willow lea titanium blade (Cabela's imitator o the Terminator) and worked medium to slow speed right to the bank and look or any submerged point and you were guaranteed a ish. Picked up a ew quality spots on brown/orange jig

Water Temp: 54-58
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had an enjoyable 4 hour aternoon trip with 3 generations o male companions - grampa at near 80 years young, his son, and 4 year old grandson. How's that or a mix!! Anyway, they had haver ished much, much less bass ished - so, I had my hands ull! We split-shot Morning Dawn Magic worms, and wound catching 8 spotted bass and 2 largemouth. The biggest bass was a 2 lb 2 oz spot. We ished mostly in the river arm, and could see bass crusing around. I did catch one on a Senko, and lost a big bass on a Senko in a bush! Average depth o the bass was 5 to 10 eet. They were on points, and in back o some coves already. Big ish should start moving in any time, as long as the weather stays warm.
City: Yuba CityTips: Collins needs to get over 60 degrees or the ishing to break wide open. I have not ound Collins to be an early lake - mid April to mid May are primetime, usually!

Water Temp: 62.5 to 64.1
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Several pounders were around the dock, like a school o Piranha. No wading! Arrived at 7AM water temp 62.5. Went to the North end behind the 5mph bouys. Ater about an hour o not even a smell on all sorts o plastics in the rocks and trees, decided to throw a crank. This is not a commerical or Bill Dance, but I was using a Suspending Fat Free Shad in the Threadin Shad color. Nothing complicated on how it was worked. They didn't want it ripped, stop and go, or paused or a count. Just throw it out and crank it in; walla, crankbait. 5:1-1 reel used. Caught 3 ootballs in the 2 pound range and one skinny gal about 4. The ish were in the cockel burrs, but had to stay back so as not to spook. They were skidish. All o the ish ate the bait almost as soon as I started moving it. I let at 11:30 and the water had warmed to 64.1
City: EastonTips: Not a an o crankin' as it is not un ishing. Try any place that has cockle burrs on the bank. The steep banks, thus deeper banks produced better. Good luck
