Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Came out of hibernation to fish the first B.A.S.S. federation tournement of the year,I haven't been on the delta since Nov. of last year. I had been hearing word that the bite had been very hit or miss, you would get on them one day and the next day nothing and from what I've read here that seemed the case. I prefished Friday and caught one keeper 2+ and shook off two more on another bank later in the day. Saturday my team partner and I "also my no boat" prefished together to see if we could figure out what these fish were doing. We found some fish cranking but didn't feel to confident because of all the pressure this area was getting, wrong tide for me also. The competition this year went up another notch with some awesome sticks coming out this year, and with the return of others.... The day of the tournement started out well, drew a gentleman that I drew last year who was a great guy and fun to fish with. I ended up catching two fish flipping on a 1/2 DUHH!! jig n pig and caught five more fish on crankbaits including a 5+ 'got lucky' did well and cashed, some nice fish brought in but not a lot of limits.
      City: Galt

Tips: Really can't say right now ... fishing 100% pro am this coming weekend, but fish SLOW and find new water.. Good luck and God bless!!!

All the ish came in the 15' range.

      Water Temp: 50-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got to the lake about 9:30 and fished until 2:30. Caught 8 Bass total. Best five fish weighed just over 20 lbs. Caught all the fish from the bank to about 5 ft. One fish was 8.6lb. on the scale. That fish was in about one foot of water. All the fish were caught on 1/4 ounce black and purple jigs with a purple pork trailer. Bang crawdad scent was used on the baits. The fish would hit the bait as soon as it landed in the water.
      City: Gilroy

Tips: Fish dark colors until the water clears. Black and purple are a killer combination at Calero in the winter months. For as many years back as I can remember fishing there it's been the same every winter. Especially right before spring hits. Use a dark colored jig and put alot of crawdad scent on it. Fish the bait shallow even in the coldest part of winter. Throw the bait right on the bank and drag it into the water. Pop it up one time hard and then let it sit for a few seconds. The fish will usually hit right then.

Report: Fished in the Redwood Empire Bass Club tourney on Saturday out o Redbud under tough conditions. Rained all day with a light wind on the south end. There were a total o 16 boats, but only 2 limits on the day. I took Larry's advice a started the day with a red/black crankbait and landed a 9.1 within 5 minutes, enough or big ish.(Thanks Larry) My partner Louie ollowed my lead and nailed a 8.8, 5 and 4 all baore 8:00am. Not a bad way to start the day. All caught shallow on crankbaits near Redbud. Moved to Jago Bay and we landed 2 more at 3lbs each on rip baits. Unortunately this was a draw tourney and not a team event. I only managed 2 ish or 12 lbs, but Louie had 5 or nearly 25 lbs, missing 1st place by 1/2 pound. Combined we had 7 ish totalling 37 pounds.
      City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Stick to crankbaits and ripbaits around rocks and docks on the south end. Work them slowly and bounce o the bottom. Fish all came in less than 10'.

      Water Temp: 47-48

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Basin Bassmasters Tourny. Started out a pretty nice morning, and then weather was inconsistent the rest o the day. My partner John Kort and I had a winning ive ish limit or close to 9#'s. There were 7 boats in the tourny and 2 teams had limits. we did not have a ish until 12:30 pm, and a small window o opportunity opened as it usually does. We hook nine ish in the next hour and landed six. One o the ish lost was at least 4.5#'s that we lost at the boat and also had a big ish come o 3rd cast o the day on a crank bait. The weird part was, every ish we landed was a largemouth. This was bizarre considering we were ishing in 47-48 degree water, in a little rock ield in only 10-12 eet o water. You would think there would be a couple spot's mixed in there, but we weren't complaining. The other team that had a limit had nothing but sopt's. They were drop shotting in 25 eet o water. The big ish was a spot just under 4#'s.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Keep your line wet. This time o year it's about being in the right place at the right time. Bites tend to be very light, so i your not sure, SET THE HOOK!
