Report: Ripped and wormed a couple of hours Saturday around Dutch, Taylor and Frank's. Picked up 12 blackies to 3 lbs and one striper of 5 lbs or so. Met some real nice NCBF'ers on the water and at the Hook, got some good suggestions and baits (thanks, Bob). Decided to fish Mildred Sunday to see if any blackies were around, could not get bit on cranks, or rip baits. Went over to sunken trees - birds were working and there was a big school of stripers just slaughtering shad! Big boils and fish all over the place. These were not small schoolies but looked to be 10-15 lb fish. You could see them on top at times right next to the boat. I was sure that I would slaughter them, but I did not get a single hit in over an hour of throwing everything but the kitchen sink at them! Jigs, Hairraisers, rattletraps, rip baits, nada! There was so much bait in the water that you could not retrieve your lure without snagging a shad on nearly every cast, and could feel them hitting your line as you retrieved. In desperation I scooped an injured shad off the water, hooked it and still did not get hit, even though huge swirls and fish were right next to the bait. Unbelievable! Well, I guess it's good to get your balloon popped, and that certainly happened to me Sunday compliments of the blackies and stripers!

Report: Yes, I could see down to 8 eet and I think that kept ish rom some o my avorite docks but not rom my avorite o shore ree where we caught 7 ish to 3 1/2 lbs, but we did get 1 ish to 5 lbs on a dock that was in 8' o water, we could see the bottom and yet the ish still took the minnow.I tried plastics as slow as possible but no takers.
      City: MILPITAS

Tips: I you get some takers in one place don't stray to araway becuase when you come back to it there will be two boats sitting on your spot catching ish and keeping them, that is what happened to us, we saw 15-20 ish to 5 lbs taken home this week, I hope the lake can handle it.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had a good day today. Went point hopping....mostly graphing, and looking or ish. They are all bunched up now, and when you ind'em, the schools are big. The main creek channels were the key. First spot with active ish yielded a 6.5 ,a 3.5, and a 4 . Ater the school dispersed, went looking again and ound a hump on a creekchannel in 45 t. that had ish. Immediately got two ish ...a 2 lb'er, and another 4. Dropshot out produced the spoon today. All solid, at ish. Didn't see much bait activity, just ish....suspended three or our eet o the bottom. Large trout Everywhere now. Caught two on plastic worms...on the all. The low pressure was just starting to come in....might have helped turn on the bite some.
      City: Wilton

Tips: Use your electronics to locate ish in schools, and then dropshot them with 6 to 8 lb. test, with 2" & 3" worms. Be patient. Even though you know they're down there, the bites may come a bit slow. Follow the creek channels out to 45-50 t.

Report: Hit the water at 8am and managed to get 4 fish in the boat by 1130. Got 2 on a grape zipper. One was 2 feet off the bank in the big cove and the other was in 10' on the main. Hit one by the spillway on a Orange spider grub in 15' and finally one Ripping a Pointer 100 by the rock Horseshoe. It seems to me that the fish are still in the top 15' range for some reason. Wind was blowing really hard and was pretty cold.
      City: San Jose

Tips: 4' grape zipper texas rigged, Blue/Silver pointer 100, Orange yamamoto spider grub. top 15'.

Report: Have been having some great days on the water lately, but yesterday was exceptional!! Went to Franks Tract, and fished open cuts from main river into the tract. Caught many stripers in a very short time, then latched into a 5.12 lb Blackie. After weighing her, I proceeded to work the same patch of water, then whammo! got a 9 pounder. Took a picture, put her back, and continued to catch many more fish in the 2 to 4 pound range. After crankin all these fish, I went right over to the tule wall and started flippin my favorite Iovino worm, and caught a couple more quality fish. I started fishing at 8 am, and was off the water by noon, and caught at least 15 bass, and 8 to 10 stripers.

Report: Went out at about 8:30am wanted to try dropshot out or irst time. Tried blus and rockpiles in the narrows and by the dam. Started o in about 25 to 35 eet o water wacthing the graph.ound a school about 33 eet caught one largemouth about 1.25 o 2" blue ghost reaper, ished area or about 25 min with no more bites. moved to dam area ound some larger schools in 55 to 60 eet o water, caught two more largemouths one 2.25 the other about 1.75,ound some more schools in the 55 to 60 depth range but could not get them to strike . I think i could have got some more ish but i had to pack up early and go to work. Oh well get em next time.
      City: hayward

Tips: Most o the ish seemed to be in the 55 to 60 oot range probably due to the bright sunny no wind days that we have had. No smallmouths ,they usually like the brown colored plastics over the shad and blue ghost colored ones i was using, did not try any brown or green worms.Just A thougt.

      Water Temp: 50-53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Started the day in Disco, ishing was tought there with only one small keeper in a couple hours or cranking and jigging. Started running east to ind some clearer water. Hit a couple low low areas and ound 53 degree water and was marking and seeing a lot more activity. Caught ish on Watermelon/Red lake Senko, lipping a black lizzard, a white spinner bait, and a crappie jig. Ended the day with my irst limit o the winter although best 5 would have only gone about 9# with the biggest a 3.5#. Fish came out o water rom 2.5-10 eet with the best ish out o 10 eet.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Color did not seem to be as important as getting the bait in their ace and ishing it slow. With the crank and blades I crank them as slow as I possibly can to get them to wobble or turn the blades.

Report: Today I promised to take my wie and dog ishing. Weather has been comortable and the ish have been cooperating. Wasn't so much concerned about my wie but the dog had me concerned. She is a great house dog and a beautiul choc. lab weighing 90 lb. When she gets outside or even suspects she is going outside she gets very excited and hard to control. She's just a teenager (3 yrs)! I have always wanted a good ishing dog so with my wie along thought it was time to start getting her out. What a mistake. Beore I could even wet a line I was ready to pull the boat out and go home.Thought I would make it a little easier on my sel, so I bought 5 dz jumbo minnows ($54.00!!!). Figured it might get expensive teaching my wie how to deep ish artiicial. We hit most o my usual spots. I tried to keep the boat in 30 t o water. I know a lot o guys are hitting the 50 to 60 t depths but I have ound the active ish are holding at about 25 t.Best 2 spots today:1.let hand side o lake ater the narrows where irst bay starts, rocky shoreline2.in ront o spillway (right below log barrier which is sitting on shore due to low water.)We used simple outits, spinning reels with 8# and 6 t Fenwick rods. A hook, minnow and split shot was all that we used. We would try to bounce the bait right o the bottom. All day long I only graphed ish 2 times and they were solitary ish (no schools) hugging no more than 3 t o the bottom. The bites were mixed. 1/2 were aggressive and very noticeable (hard to miss all that line ripping o an open spinning reel) and the other 1/2 were just a slight sensation o weight on the line (like some weeds were picked up).Between the 2 o us we landed 16 or 17 bass (lost count). 3 were smallies in the 2 to 2.5 lb range. 2 largies about 1.5 and the rest were solid 2.5 to 3 lb ish. The wie's largest weighed just over 4 lb. My largest or the day was a beautiul and FAT 5.25. The ish were all large and healthy and put up a great ight. Only 2 ish broke water and the rest stayed deep. We had several hits that we lost (dog in the way, helping wie with a tangle, etc). In act I lost 5 in a row (2 the hook came o ( better practice my knot tying!), 2 wrapped in trees and 1 came o 5 t under the boat. We also missed several ish on the hook sets. The minnows were probably too large and we should have let them eed some more. We wound up using all the minnows but 6.
      City: Fremont

Tips: Fish a little shallower than traditional winter days. Wether has been warm and bass are eeding hard on crawdads and shad. Stay close to bottom and ish slow.
