Report: Sorry about the bitching guys. Its just that I was so close to the marina, and I know I should of hooked up the running lights. I must have lauched 100 times from that marina. I was fishing that tully Island just in front of big break. Its not like I ran a long way in the dark. It was so close! Not even a quater mile from lauch ramp. I know I broke the law and I should of hooked up the lights. Its a little too hard to swallow to have pay a big fine for that mistake. It was just starting to get dark too. I will only report fishing report from now on. If anyone is interested, me and my partner was fishing for stripers that day and we did fairly. Try spooning in the channel near flats. Swim baits worked well too. Fish were anywhere from 5'-25'ft. Any shad pattern spoon worked. Our other friends got in to some good size stripers jigging spoons. They got buch of fish over 8 lbs. Good luck to all the fisherman! Don't be lazy like me, its not worth getting a ticket. Use your lights. I'm a example what not to do or say. Be safe out there!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Beautiful fall day on the lake with my wife Teresa. Haven't fished lake Mendo. for 3+ weeks. Got a late start (10:45 am) took some time to find the fish. Caught only four. Found hundreds of fish @ 40 ft. of water along with tons of bait fish. These fish were closed lipped.-------------
Got some ideas for next time out. ---- I think they are stripers.
      City: Ukiah, CA.

Tips: The small mouth and large mouth bite is pretty good. Speed traps, rattle traps and blue / orange belly crank baits are working for me. Don't foget to throw the lizards and senkos slow dragg'in.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Sllloooooowww day at Margi. The 30 degree drop in weather probably influenced the bite more than anything. Got a couple dinks, and 1 solid 3lb fish on the jig up shallow. Couldn't buy any love on the main lake, only fish came at the lower end of the river arm.

Report: Dropped the trolling motor at the ramp and tried a spook until I got to the 5mph bouy. Then hit skiers cove with the spook and between the two spots I caught 3 bass. Graph bait fish in the back of coves though out the day. Tried spoon fishing for those fish and missed all hits. My most productive fishing came when I tied on a 6in roboworm(green w/pink tail) and fished down tree's that were near the main body of lake. I caught 6 bass all in the trees.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took a friend fishing in the morning to check out the bite we didn't have a lot of luck but the conditions were perfect cloudy, breezy, and just a touch of a chill thats the best part of this report we did get a couple fish just before noon on morning dawn robos one was a three pound largie the other was 7 inches.
      City: grass valley

Tips: The lake has a lot of water and there is plenty of good structure but the bite wasn't great it should get better the fish we did catch were both spitting shad so that was a good sign maybe the afternoon bite is better.

      Water Temp: 59-61 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fish are still biting - not as hard as previous weeks. Watch for the light ticks on the line - or you will miss bites. Worms, Grubs, drop shot all worked well... some fish shallow, some fish in 20-28 feet. Nothing Huge this time out, best fish 3lbs. We caught 9 bass and 7 crappie. 3 of those crappie were HORSES! 2lbs or better. Fought like bass (and hit like bass - pounded the dropshot)
      City: Pacific Grove

Tips: Release! We are catching more fish with jacked up mouths... please be careful and don't RIP those gammies out. I caught yet another nice fish with a broken ripped up jaw. W-T-F??

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went to naci on Sunday, the bite is off the hook right now. Started on the bank right across from the marina while I waited for the fog to lift. Caught about 15 fish in the first hour with the five biggest going just over 11 lbs. Caught the five biggest on a repo man (topwater) and spider jigs. After fog lifted switched to sex Shad colored robo worms on a drop shot rig and caught about 25 more before heading out around 1:00. Did catch some on the spider jig in the afternoon. Get out early, bigger fish seem to be active in the
      am.
      City: Holister

Tips: Fish are feeding heavily on Shad, find a point with bait and you can catch a fish on almost every cast. Fall bite at naci is on get out and have some fun.

      Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished under rainy skies and no one on the lake. Caught 10 large mouth all on shallow running crank bait along weed lines. Tried top water, drop shot and worm but not a bite. The weather was perfect for shallow reaction baits.
      City: Foster City

Tips: This time of year start with reaction baits and locate fish. Cover a lot of water and fish shallow.

      Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I went to Collins yesterday afternoon to see how the fall bite was. There was a lot of weather changes in the few hours I was there - sun, clouds, rain, stiff breeze. I did find some bass feeding on shad - west side of the lake - and caught 2 on a Blade Runner black shad spoon. I did start with a real nice spotted bass over three pounds that hit my Blade Runner jig. As she came up, she spit up 5 or 6 shad. One was huge!! So, they are starting their fall feed. I caught another nice one on a jig just before dark. Most of the bait seems to be at 35 to 60 feet. I tried topwater without much confidence - and that was the case - not happening yet. All my fish were caught on steep banks.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I hope this was the beginning of the late-fall - winter jig bite. Fishing should get better week by week for the next several weeks. The lake has much more water than at this time last year, so folks will have to hunt a little harder to find off-shore bass.

      Water Temp: our pool-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got to Cottage Grove 20 minutes before first light. Grabbed my stuff and headed down to the water at about 7:25AM. Tried 3 different lures for about 15 minutes each with no bites- a jerkbait, a crankbait and a 6" swimbait. So of course with my fishing time evaporating I tied on a jig and beaver. I got a bite on the first cast. It was a 12"- 1 pound bass! Not a monster for sure but it told me 2 things. There are fish here and they will bite! I tossed back out to the same area wondering if I'd get another one pound (Or even smaller!!) bass. I did actually say out loud to the first fish "Go tell your Mom and sister to come bite my lure". I got a hard bite- set the hook hard and the fight was on. This fish went 3.2 and was 18" long. Never really jumped just pulled hard. Got a couple photos including one of the release. Made several more casts and then got a real sharp bite-set the hook and missed. Let the jig drop hoping it would hit it again. It did not. About 4 or 5 casts later I feel a bite- set hard and the fish pulled hard enough to yank about 8-10 feet of line off the spool before I could tighten up the drag. This fish REALLY dug hard and wallowed on top a couple times before I landed it. It looked big enough to break my best Oregon bass record of 5.10 but not this time. She was 21 1/2" and 5 pounds, 4 ounces. Funny how the fish got bigger- happens like that in the postspawn sometimes too. This time I actually had the camera with me. And it was charged up and ready to shoot! Took 3 photos and gently slid her back in the water to go make some babies for my kids to catch. All 3 fish were caught in about a 25 minute period and then no more bites for the last 1/2 hour. I'm pretty surprised the big fish didn't nail my swimbait- I swam it right through the same areas I got the big fish. Now the question of the year- will this be my last bass of 2010? I think I'll have at least a couple more chances to go soon here so we'll see. The latest I've caught one was on Nov. 7th of 2008. It was a 3.11 and came from the same general area as these fish today. And of course came on my favorite lure!
      City: yoncalla

Tips: Bundle up, grab some jigs and go. Don't be afraid to fish real shallow either. The biggest fish today was closer to shore than the smallest one. Normally our pool is "roughly" the same temp as the lake. I checked it about an hour after I got home and it was 52 degrees. So until we get either some really strong winds and/or some bone chilling temps to drop the temp down to the mid to high 40's there's really no reason to not go try to catch some nice bass. See you out there!

      Water Temp: 56 Degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took my first trip to Almanor today. We launched at the dam at about 7am, put the trolling motor down and starting cranking speed traps. At 7:15 I hooked into a 3lb- 8oz Smallmouth using a a crawfish color (orange belly). I had my friend throwing a shad color. Ended up being our only fish. I ran all the way to the North East end of the lake fishing submerged islands and points with the speed traps, tubes and drop shot. Not much on the graph, saw a couple of bait balls but no schooling fish. Fished till about 10:30.

Report: Fished for 3 hours and got 2 big bites. One bass 7.5 lbs and one went 6.2 lbs throwing a Hud and a Rago tool. One big blow up on a Punker, but I think it was a large Striper. Judging by the swirl and the way the fish pushed the big punker out of the water, this was a large fish...no lie. People that know me, know that I have landed many Stripers up to 29 lbs from Loma. This is gonna be the year I land one over 30. Tight lines and good fishing to all the regulars. Please practice catch and release.

Report: I decided to go out and try minnows on tuesday. For those of you that cant catch them on artificals I stongly suggest you try live bait!
The fall minnow bite is turning on.I caught 15 fish in 5 hours , 8 of them 4 to 4 and a half pounds, All of the guides that I know that post here tell the truth about their trips and if you are not catching fish then maybe you should hire one!
      City: lakeport

Tips: Also caught fish on lv 500s, fishing it uphill very slowly. The fishing isnt that bad you just need to move around till you find feeding fish.

Report: Went with grouchy and launched out of Laurentz. Fished around Big Break and Little Break with a keeper bass and a couple of dink stripes. Worked our way up towards Franks and caught a couple of 20" stripes along the rock wall by the Barges. Got to Franks and saw more duck blinds than fisherman. Once again caught a few blacks and a few small stripes. Worked our way back towards Dutch Slough and worked up the river and started to catch some stripers off the weed edge. Ended up with about 6-8 small keeps, when grOuchy nails this beautiful 15lber that devoured his large topwater offering. Turned out to be a great day as got home in time to watch the Giantes take the 1st game.
      City: orinda

Tips: Our only pattern is today the stripes were relating to weed edges, as we junked fish. Caught fish on blades, traps, 1 topwater and fish traps. Plastics didn't work, but didn't throw them that much. Stripers are around if you make enough casts.

      Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished PM from 1:00-5:00 and boated 9 bass. Caught 8 LM and one smallie (3lbs). All good keepers. Largest LM was just under 4lbs. All but one fish were caught on top water. Took one nice LM on drop shot. Fish were all shallow 1-6ft along the weed edges. Overcast sky and calm water turned the top water bite on. Should have been perfect weather for crank bait and I threw it all day and not a single bite.
      City: Foster City

Tips: When conditions are right even if it is mid day try top water. Have a senko or drop shot handy for fish you miss. Fish shallow along the weed lines alternating between top water and drop shot or other plastics.
