Contra Loma Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 2 hours before sunset...only one Bass but went 5.5 on a "VIXEN" topwater bait. Many fish at dark in "inches" of water chasing baitfish...so shallow their backs were exposed....totally crazy! Nothing would hit a frog. Had something hit a "Pointer 128" in trout pattern that spooled me. Couldn't slow the fish down...I think I'm finding Stripers lately. Friday night I will be tossing some big swimbaits on my Dobyns rods with 25 lb. flourocarbon and see what happens. Haven't landed a Striper at the lake in a year and a half. My biggest here is 27 lbs, but landed 6 over 14 lbs over the last 6 years.
City: AntiochTips: Big baits at dusk....and hold on!

City: newarkTips: mooch pilchard or anchovy deeeep. let your buddy drink till he passes out or put sleeping pills in his coffee and use his rods too.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Dingy on the water early. trolled damn area with pilchard plugs. hooked a massive specimen witch spooled my reel. spooled up with dental floss and hoped for a topwater trout bite to bust loose. nothing wood touch my beetle tipped with white corn.
City: newarkTips: next time i'll use cuttyhunk or dacron. bring extra line. i think the mint flaver of the floss didn't attract the trout like i thought it wood. i was exited to learn of rumors of a sleeper pike minnow fishery at this lake.

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Friday morning I took Roger and his grandsons Austin and Mackenna out for a day of fishing. It was
a cold overcast morning and stayed that way most of the day. We headed out towards the
vineyards stopping along the way at some key points. Mackenna who is eight landed the first
fish which weighted approx. 2.5 pounds. He also brought in the second fish that weighted almost
2 pounds. Austin (who turned 12 that day) landed the third and fourth fish. Both boys did very
well for the day. Roger really didn't get much of a chance to fish since he was busy taking pictures
of the boys reeling in their fish and netting them. That evening I went into my favorite cove which
is slowly drying up and only threw top water with no luck whatsoever. Saturday I went to my cove
again and caught some nice bass on suspended baits by River2Sea and again no hits on top water.
Saturday evening I fished with my buddy Albert for awhile and caught a six pound catfish. Sunday
my friend Steve and I headed out at first light toward the Ranch House. As we trolled towards the
vineyards we tried top water baits along the way with no response at all. Steve caught some bass
with the River2Sea suspended bait which also landed a couple of trout (see photo). Sunday turned
out to be a tough day of fishing. We would see fish break, throw into the boil with no rewards.
Most fish we saw on the screen were suspended. It was still a great weekend of fishing and should
only get better. 'til next week............................................good fishing!!!!!!!!

Water Temp: 69-71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: 3 different water clarities depending on where you go. Caught 2 fish in the clear water but caught more fish in the greenish, stained water. Caught 1 fish in the muddy water. Fishing was neither great nor bad due to change in barometric pressure from yesterday's low to today's high.
City: Cameron ParkTips: Didn't catch any on plastics because I didn't throw plastics.

Report: fished saturday and sunday (hook tournament). very tough bite. caught 2 fish over 6# on frog and buzzbait and missed 2 more that were in that weight range. caught about 5 others but nothing of size. talked to few guys after the tourny and they all seemed to have a tough time getting a bite.
City: carmel valleyTips: get out there at day-break and throw a frog or buzzbait, great blowups!

Clear Lake

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: DD, how about we tell it like it really is??? I didn't ask your release boat to take out my fish. They asked me if I was with my club or with the belly boaters. I replied by stating I was with my club. That is when another guy said I'd have to pay for half the boat to have my fish released, which I replied no. After I released my fish a couple of guys made weak threats stating they were going to call Fish and Game on our club and asked what club I was in. I replied that "I wasn't in his (four letter functional) club and he should mind his own bussiness". I then "walked" away. You guys should have minded your own business as we did. We didn't butt into your event, we showed your float tubers curtiousy by not crowding them on the water or rocking them with a wake. Maybe nobody called Fish and Game because you guys were the only people in violation... 1. No lights on some of your vessels before safe-light. 2. The required mussel-check stickers on most of your vessels. and 3. Illegally transporting fish around the lake in aerated ice chests(livewells must be emptied when you leave a launching facility). But, we don't really care as we were there just to have a great time fishing as I'm sure most of your guys were, too. It's a shame that a few guys with chips on there shoulders gotta try and ruin the days of others.
As for the "report" part. Fishing was a bit tough. Most of our fish were caught cranking and on plastics. 7 lber was big fish, with half the boats bringing a fish close to 5 lbs. to the scales.
City: RocklinTips: Have fun fishing and don't let people like DD bring you down(he probably blanked anyhow)---<'}}}><

Report: fishing north side of clear lake and caught fish off the crankbait. I think the lv's were working well. I caught size more than quantity. I had a 3lb average a long with a nice 5.91 lber.
Kickboat baby.(SCBBBC tournament put on 40 people)
sucks is that we paid for a $$400 release boat and another tournament was giving there fish to our release boat. guy ran away quickly.

Water Temp: Off the Dock :)
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Yes, Dead carp everywhere, from 4-40 lbers, funny no smaller ones than that that I could see, either they are to healthy and not dying or the bass ate them while they were dying:) Ok I was visiting family so could not take the boat on this trip but was able to put in 45 min in the AM 10/4 and got 1 3 lber on LV 500 off Red Bud Pier tossing it as far as I could traight out off the tip of the pier, could not get any fish close to shore though there were lots of silversides close to shore, 10/5 got in 2 hrs in the AM at the same pier for 3 fish to 3 lbs, this time I went directly to the end of the pier and fan casted but not a touch so I was about to go to the next dock when I saw silver sides boiling next to the dock I was on, I tossed my LV 500 just past the boil and 3 cranks later I had a 3 lber on, took her off and did the same thing, 3 to 4 cranks later another 3 lber, took her off and repeated and 3-4 cranks later another 3 lber, I have not had 3 back to back fish to 3 lbs in 3 cast in let me see, last fall!!! Like the post before mine, it looks like fall has arrived with a better bite, I did speak to a few guy in bass boats that had strugled for limits, I think the bass are wolf packing so you have to find the pack, so use those search baits and than use those baits until the don't want it any more and than drag a Sweat Beaver or sorry yes that drop shot rod, don't tell me drop shots don't catch big fish, I got a 10 lber last year and a 7 and 8 lber this year on my beautiful shimano crucial drop shot rod!! I am going back up this week end for 4 days with my 4 year old son, I think we are going to be on to something!!
City: San JoseTips: I agree with the post before, the fish seam to want a fast moving bait, I tossed my favorite color senko and they would not touch it, I only took my fav bait casting rod so I only power fished. I tried a pointer but they did not touch it. I will be using my LV 500 along with some of the lures on the previous post, got to love this web site!!! Tight lines and God Bless!!

City: THA PTips: rip lippless crankbaits over the tops of submerged weeds. frog bits turned off alot since last week. stick to baits in a baitfish color.
