Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Anybody have an empty seat in your boat tomorrow? I really wanna do some bassin, but my Tracker is about 150 miles east of me. Even if it was here, I wouldn't be able to fish since the trolling motor is dead. I'll be glad to split the expenses and buy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I have all my gear with me(3 rods and a box), just need a backseat. If you're willing, call me at 408-892-5294... I know some of you will be mad cuz this is not a report, but in my defense, Mr. Webmaster doesn't want to reply to my email about why I can't log in.

Report: Tried jerk baits with only one bite in three hours, tried swin baits, crank baits, top water, only got a few dinks (10" not keepers) on crank bait at the back of the lake. Moved to Cottonwood and threw everything, got a 4 pounder on a brown Strike King jig, and a couple of small keeper blade fish. Tough bite but one very nice jig fish.

Report: I had some good luck at Casitas fishing the shorelines. I was lucky to hit a 6 pound bass and a pair of 5's and 4's and had a few blow-ups also. I was using baby bass flukes and super flukes in the same color. the bigger bass are chasing bass fry everywhere. You know me,I threw big baits with no luck. Flukes were the ticket today. good luck Chief

Tips: I also heard that the white flukes are working also.

      Water Temp: low 60's?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Finally found time to do some math. Since June 30th of this year I've caught and released 53 bass for a total of 153 lbs., 5 ounces. Less than 5 of them came on something other than a jig. More than 2/3 were caught from the shore. All came from Cottage Grove Lake. First one of the year came on Feb. 27th. My point is start early next spring, teach yourself to use a jig- take nothing else with you so you have to stick with it, fish them slow and milk the good spots for all they're worth. I have 5 or 6 spots along the west shore that gave up 85% of this years bass! Fish often so you stay in touch with the lake and the fish. I'm very lucky to be able to go 3 or 4 mornings a week when there's enough light. I'm also lucky 'cause it's right on my way to work so I don't have to waste a lot of gas. If I only have 20 minutes to fish that's fine- you can catch, weigh, photograph and release 3 nice ones easily in 20 minutes. Some of my spots are a good bit of walking and the exercise (Mental and physical) is a good thing. If I get up early and have an hour and a half (June and July!) then it just makes the work day breeze by. There are some spots I like to fish that you can't reach from anything but a boat but I like to take my kids there with me so they can enjoy the scenery and the fishing as well. My daughter is actually starting to recognize some of the good spots already. I havn't fished since the 27th but am hoping to get out in the kayak early Sunday. Who knows if they'll bite after our little rainstorm. They have been really rolling the water out of the lake lately- the creek only had about 3-4' of water way back in the back on the 27th.
      City: yoncalla, oregon

Tips: Do a report once in a while would ya? Who cares if you only caught 1 little 10" bass- at least you got a bite! And you're out there trying.

Report: We were there today and we caught 9 keepers and one crappie. We moved around alot looking for bait and fish on the graph. When we found what we were looking for it was easy but it wasn't easy finding what we were looking for. haha.
      City: Millbrae

Tips: top water spoons and small plastics is what we used

      Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took my 4 year old out to check if the fall bite has started. Well it has fished from 0700 to 1230 with 27 fish total all of them running from 1.5 to 3.5 lbs. Nothing real big yet best 5 at 14lbs. Wind made it hard to fish the way I wanted to, also very hard with a 4 year old. So it ended up being a junk pattern day.
      City: Vacaville

Tips: Tried topwater first thing cought a couple SM. Wind came up and tried a crankbait cought 5 LM and SM. Changed over to spinnerbait and that worked then around 10 the bite slowed and cought some on drop shot from 15-30 feet deep. Then I noticed some action on a weedline but the bait they were chasing was smaller than the baits I was throwing. I changed over to a Lucky Craft popper and they just started pounding it. My son did get 4 bass on his mojo rigged brush hog.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Low, Low water. I fish this lake at least 8 times a year with the Fall usually the best trip of the year. This year it was minimal only 15 fish in the 12-15 inch range realistically. 1 fish 18 inches about 3-1/2 pounds on a worm. Most fish in 10-15 feet of water. Decent Crankbait bite with a stop and go retrieve. My best success at Eastman has always been with worms and grubs in a green-ish color. Alge bloom is definately in effect. Saturday after the rain, bite was off. Only 1 on a crankbait. We need HUGE rain this year to fill this bad boy up for 2009. This lake rocks when it's on!
      City: Pacific Grove

Tips: Motor Oil, Watermelon, Green Weenie colors and stop and go crankbaits. I did not get any spinnerbait action or topwater... both of which was suprising.

      Water Temp: 74-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: McClure is low, low, low. Old Dam is now 5' above water. Weather was nice, overcast, and slightly windy. Fished Temperance, Old Dam, and the rock walls around the dam. No bites on plastics, top water, and drop shotting. We went upriver to an area next to where the old railroad runs around the lake. I tied on a Luckcraft Pointer in Chartreuse Minnow color and caught 13 fish from 1030-1230. Most were small, @8-9 inches, but did get a 2lb and a 3lb spot along some rock piles. Saw lots of bluegills jumping and trout seemed very active.
      City: Merced, CA

Tips: Until we get some rain, and the lake gets fresh water, the fishing is going to be challenging. Foe me, if there's any wind, go with ripbaits and blades near rocks. The water was fairly clear upriver, and most of the hits were 10-12' from shore. The fish finder saw fish suspended from 15-30', and going shallow to attack my ripbait. Hit rocky points and shelfs. I prefer LuckyCraft Chartreuse Pointer minnows. As my buddy Anthony Tonachion says..."You can never go wrong with Luckycraft".

Report: My buddy and I fished the pitt and found lots of runts. There was bait everywhere, especially at back of the creek. Little runts were chasing 3/4 in. baitfish everywhere. The water would turn into bubbles or foam from all the activity. It was a sight to see! If you want to use up some old plastics, head to the pitt. Use ultra light tackle and have some fun. Get rid of your old plastics.
      City: san mateo

Tips: Try top water baits, small swim baits, grubs and jerk baits.

Report: Couldn't scare up any fish on crankbaits or frogs, but slaughtered the bass on dropshot rigs in the last 1.5 hours of daylight. Lost count after about 12 bass. All pretty small with a few to 2 lbs. One BIG blow up on a "Lunker Punker" launched way off shore...might have been a striper...never hooked up. Anyway, back out again tmrrw unless Delta looks good in the morning.
