Nacimiento Lake

Water Temp: 74
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished a local club tournament Saturday and all I can say is wow, the lake is WAY down. Last time I was out there was in April and it has changed a lot. I am sure this has had an effect on the spotted bass, because they are sooo skinny and suspended for the most part. Caught 30+ fish with only a few in there being keepers, the good thing was the amount of large mouth being caught. Areas like Las Tablas and the river are VERY muddy. Main lake was clear. It took 13 and change to win and that included a 6 lb Large mouth.
City: Paso RoblesTips: Top water early on the main lake, then Drop shotting- wacky riggin worms. Watch out- lots of islands and points out in the middle.

Water Temp: Hot
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Very slow complete turn around from the last few trip's.Got caught up in the last trip's success but didnt work this time.
Pretty much wasted the good time thinking it would work which was Topwater and Jerkbait's.
Ended up with five Smallmouth but only two worth even mentioning maybe 2 pound's.Ended up throwing my little go to baby rig and had three nice follow's but not one hookup at the ramp before I left.
Oh well nice day anytime on the water.

Santa Margarita Lake

Water Temp: 77o
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A second trip to Margarita to locate possible spots. Partner and I arrived early at 6AM and were surprized to see there were already a few trailers in the White Oak launch and boats on the water. Hit a few points across from launch tossing a jig around rocky spots and I pulled in a nice 3+ maybe 4# keeper, giving us both a ray of hope for the day. She was shorter than usual but pretty round and looked quite healthy which made us both smile. Means the population is in good shape. Kept working the area but no other takers. Headed to the 5MPH zone towards the dam and started a drop shot as well as jigs. No takers. Saw a few of our club memebers and one pulling in a decent keeper across from us and the other saying 'where's the fish?' Headed towards the river and finally pulled in a shorty on a drop but still, the fishing is a bit slow still and working the walls and rocky points on the lake will probably produce if the critters are in the mood to attack. Pleasant day out with little wind and more of it sure was needed but it just didn't produce. Hit Jackass and pulled another possible keeper but still was a shorty. Headed in at 12:30 calling it a day. Will make another trip before the months end meet.
City: Santa MariaTips: Cranks and top water still not producing. Hopefuly in a few weeks things will change. Dropshot and jigs brought in three fish for a 6 hour days work. Not very productive but -- That's Margarita! Mornings seemed a lot cooler now Sept is here so may be advisable to bring along something warm just in case.....

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Can't stand not seeing reports up on my local lakes so here is one....Been hitting up Margi for the last couple of weekends in my kickboat, fishing (for me) has been great on Dropshot, shakey head, Spook and the frog. Havn't been able to get any of those jig fish I hear about, but then you have to throw it to get something on it. Two weeks in a row now I have got a 6 on the frog, yesterday I had a 5.5 and a 6 on the frog. A picture of the 6 is in the photo section. The spook bite has been going great for me early in the morning got a 7.5 a couple of weeks ago, with numerous blow ups yesterday. It is still pretty good just need to be out there early before the sun comes over the hills. I am usually out there on Friday mornings, and I am looking for a team partner (with a boat ofcourse) for the Won Bass Central Coast region.
City: Paso RoblesTips: For me, the frog(Spro Natural Red)fish I have been finding are on sparse clumps of slop in shady areas of coves. None have come from main lake slop. The drop shot/shakey head (Robo Worm Ox/Red)(Zoom Trick worm Green Pumpkin)fish have come from main lake points.

Report: Got on the lake at sunset and had good luck catching fish to 4 lbs. Surprising number of blacks; usually catch more spots than blacks. Worked close to shoreline with worms and creature baits and finished with 15 fish before departing at 0130. Not a bad night overall.

Report: Gold Coast Bass tourney -- 6PM to Midnight --
A great turnout with 19 boatds on hand --
Pretty slim 'pickins' tonight. Water down considerably but will make a go of it. Marina shows a lot of muddy water so we elected to head towards the river and B-Rock. No takers at the B so headed farther back to the 5MPH zone. Got one keeper and maybe 9-10 11 to 12 inchers on a green lizard texas. Waited till almost dark and headed o the marina to finish off. Nothing -- Went to a cove to the left of the marina and found fish but only one keeper. All the rest were small fish.
Winners: L. Fernandez - 8 plus, 2nd S. Fernandez, Big fish 3.14 taken by J. Newman and Oakley
City: SMTips: Most winning weights were in the river.

Report: This lake is also very low again areas are not marked with bouys in some areas.Bass fishing here is fair on 12 to 14 inch bass cranks in frog pattern work the best here with jigs second on the list big bass was four pounds but most were in the 12 to 14 inch range and good numbers the not hard to catch and are shallow all over the lake. Bullet head jigs in junebug or green pumpkin work here also. 1-559-673-5151

Water Temp: hot
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Well got there just before safe light and there was a club tourny going on so I had originally planed on fishing for Striper's.Well when I got to the south shore marina there was a boat allready there where I wanted to fish.So I fished about 20 minute's and nothing was going on so I kept an eye on the spot I thought I would bass fish and not one of the club guy's fished it.So I went over there and it was the start to a great day.I picked up 11 Smallmouth all on topwater. That went south after the sun hit the water so I ran down toward's the dam and threw a Lucky Craft pointer and picked up 6 more Smallmouth one just over 4lb's.There was some nice grass about three feet out from the bank. They must have been hiding in it waiting to ambush the shad.Ended the day fishing the small cliff across from south shore and cought two Largemouth about 1.5lb's.
City: SalinasTips: Well the reaction bite is all I can say.Topwater then go find some grass like I did.

Elsinore Lake
-
Water Temp: 84
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Decided to try Elsinore as I haven't been there in years. Like George Kramer stated this lake is alive and well. I took my teenage daughter with me and she had a field day. It was WFO for sure. My daughter used a Lucky Craft Ghost Lime Chartreuse crank and I was using Texas rigged Roboworm MM. I guess any plastic worm in purple would have worked. we caught about 60 fish with the biggest going around 4 LBS. and the average was 2LBS. We had a blast.
Tips: Listen to George.

Nacimiento Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A visit to Naci to check out the night fishing in preps for a meet this month. Results -- Ugly! Water is down, islands are showing and it's sorta BYOF bring your own fish night. Hit our spots with jigs and crabks while there was still ight with only 11 inchers coming to the boat. Started with black stuff when night arrived as well as cranks and jigs and every other thing we could muster for a bite. Was really shut off and a lot of dissappointment for the nights activities. Headed towards the marina around 10ish PM seeing several shad on the main lake run to the marina. BE CAREFUL! Islands are showing and very little bouys out to warn you so do the 5MPH all the way back to the marina at night as even the bouy light markers are in bad shape! WERE TALKIN MAYBE ONLY 1/2 WORKING!
Oh well -- That's fishing
City: Santa MariaTips: Warm at launch [94o with water temps at 78o] but it colled off a lot so might want to bring a warmy along for that little chill!
