      Water Temp: 82

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Saturday traffic no problem on a windless day. First 15 minutes produced three largemouths, 2 wipers, 2 catfish and a crappie all on crankbaits. As it turned out, the best bait, since the fish were all in less than 7 feet, were Jackall's lipless model. (What's that thing called, Brian?)

But chartreuse spinnerbaits, Texas-rigged plum C-Tails and shad single tail grubs got bit almost every other cast in the cover. Landed 35 by lunch time. (Don't want to admit missing nearly that many). Top fish went 4-1, and several cracked three pounds, but 13-inch fish were still dominant. Top hybrid was a 6 pounder--yikes!

Heavy brush and deep fences at north end seemed better. Safer on your hull than the fences on the west shore. Fish are both inside and outside in thick brush edges or submerged marina ledges.
      City: Lake Elsinore

Tips: They should delete all the old reports about Elsinore. They don't represent this aerated natural lake as it is today.

Go early when the temperature is cooler. If you're not getting bit, check your knot. You might not have anything tied on. (Actually, keep moving, fish seem to be on the clouds of bait). Ignore the carp splashing.

      City: Visalia

      Water Temp: 76 Degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Up to Castaic Friday 08-03-2007. Fished 9:00 - 6:00 p.m. Water level up a couple feet, they are pumping water back into lake, big white water boils next to north dam. Water temp down a couple degrees. Fish a little spooky this trip no action until mid day. Once again had three bass by lunch time. Best time was mid day to 3:30 p.m. Same as last trip, caught 'em on ... ah what do they call those little things? Anyway ended up with 13 bass, 2 threes, 2 twos and rest one pounders. Best five went 11 pounds. Lots of fun. Not too crowded today, quiet actually.
      City: Oak Park

Tips: Think 3D and where those bass would be located on structure. No need to get there too early. Have fun!! Watch out for speed boats ... out of control, for sure.

      Water Temp: 78o

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A day after the hot 108o at Margarita proved to be a setback as the fish went someplace other than Margarita despite the nicer 92o. Well, it wasn't all in error as we did manage a decent 5 and 4 pounder and one ez 13incher but it was a tough go. Dam area gave one up as did the area at the river 5MPH zone just up from the boat dock. Chatted with reporter Bryan and he said he tossed frogs with no takers. Give it a try next week....
      City: Santa Maria

Tips: Cranks were off in the AM as was top water. Senkos worked near rocks

      Water Temp: 77o

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A visit to Margarita with my son and to enjoy my birthday with him and to check out conditions after a three month absence. Water is noticably down with some structures just below the water line in some spots so be extra careful out there. Went to the narrows with absolutly nothing interested. Went all the way to the river and the water ia about 4' deep with stickups every where and not manuverable very much. Tried Brush Hogs with nothing taking any offers. Only saw three other boaters and chatted with two both saying it was pretty tough. Headed to the dam area and worked the walls. Water clarity is far better on the dam end as is the water color. Located a decent spot with water level in the 18 foot range dropping to 58 feet so we elected to texas hook a watermelon red flake 5" MadMan craw to help attract passing fish. Son slammed into a heavy and the fight was on but I managed to net her seeing that she wasn't going to get unbuttoned. His best ever bass with a nice high 6 pounder maybe 7.

      Water Temp: 80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Summer heat and fast dropping lake levels made fishing challenging. We did well on main lake points and steep walls with plastics early (sunrise to 11 am) Only a couple top water fish with most of the others on drop-shot in shad colors. Lots of bait in lake and finding feeding bass was difficult. They are all throughout the water column from 2 to 50 feet. Our best results where in 20-30ft, but caught some shallow early on and some deeper later.
      City: Fresno

Tips: Get on the lake early before the extreme heat and drink lots of water.

Report: We'll had not been on the water for 8 weeks. I do not fish the lake when it is going down so fast because of dirty water and small fish. Got going around 7:45 pm. Actually got there at 6:30 but once out relized boat had no gas for the rest of the night so had to go back down to the texaco. First fish my buddy jeff got on dd-22 around 8pm upriver. 3 lbs. Went till 9:15 and started catching fish on worms and a few on crankbaits, dd-22's . Started fishing small swimbaits and worms in dark colors and caught 17 fish till 1 am. At 1:10 am I was throwing a 10 worm and hooked one around 8 lbs. No camera in the boat and this fish was mad as hell. it faught so damn hard it was crazy. Caught a few more and we went home at 2 am.
      City: Visalia

Tips: We found them closer to the bank as the moon got higher and wind blew alittle. No wind , No bites. Skiers still on water till 9pm. Watch out for the big waves.
