Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Nice warm day. Shad are all over the lake. But only hung 3 small bass. When shad disappeared so did the bass.Morning activety ended at 11:00 for me .Had trouble with my boat at 5:00 and had to get outta the water. So I missed the evening bite. Damn. The lake is very clear. 8-10 visibility!! Good luck to ya.
Tips: I netted shad a little late. Try to have shad in the bucket and fishing by 7:00 and you should do all right.

Hensley Lake

Water Temp: 58-60
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Caught a few early on jerk baits off points, then targeted structure w/ senkos. Wacky and Texas rigged work well even though weather was variable (Sun, clouds, wind, no wind). Bite got lighter as day went on. Switched to a dart head and finesse worms to keep catching fish. Fish were shallow early and then all over the water column later (especially 10-15 ft). Most all fish were 1 to 1.5 lbs. Boat traffic was light.
City: FresnoTips: Large fish are few and far between, up size bait and fish early.

Report: Have not been down here in a long time much less the South Shore so i decided to give it a try.Arrived a little before 7:00am and the main ramp,Lynch, was closed and the whole parking lot was full of Aluminium barrier's I think the Wild Flower thing is coming up so I had to launch at Harris Creek.
It was very foggy so i just started out with the electric motor,I was only one of three rig's there, and threw topwater for the first half hour not a boil.I threw out behind me in open water and picked up a Striper about 5lb's.
The fog lifted and I ran to Bee Rock and picked up three Smallmouth about 2lb's on topwater outside on the first point going in.Fished all the way back and had two more boil at it but no hookup.
Then I ran back and fished the slide with topwater and nothing so gave up on that. Then I got lucky and ran into some boiling Striper's and picked up two more on a jerkbait about 10lb's each and as soon as I found them they were gone.
Finished the day catching two more Smallmouth on a Huddlebug nice quality well over 3lb's.
And by the way I did catch three other fish which really floored me.Three Spotted Bass about 10" long.
City: SalinasTips: Do not transport fish from one lake to the other.

Water Temp: 56'
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished a tournament Sunday the 15th. Caught lots of small fish up towards the mouth of Gill Cove in the trees. Drop shots and texas rigged worms seemed to work good for 13inch fish. Tournament was won in the north end in 12 foot of water throwing Senkos deep into the trees. Several fish over 2 lbs caught in the trees with senkos and jigs. Fish are plentifull but bigger fish were picked up throwing jigs and senkos.
City: PortervilleTips: Fish 5-15 foot deep and throw into the middle of trees. If you feel your bait drag through a submerged tree stop moving it, the fish will be there.

Lopez Lake

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: This is not a report but rather a heads up if you plan on fishing the lake. There currently is a perceived problem on this lake concerning over harvesting and or illegal fishing practices. If you are going to go to the lake it would be much appreciated if you would write down this name and number. Terri Hickey 805-782-9963. This is the person from the dept. of fish and game in charge of this area. It only takes a minute to write this down and carry with you on the water where a phone call will have them at the lake in minutes. The on going problem you will be a witness to involves one or several boats that take multiple fisherman and children to an area that cannot be accessed by foot and drops them off and then will go to another site to fish. They use walkie talkies and are in constant communication with one another and they fill buckets and stringers with fish while filling out limits for all. The DFG has been unable to cite these folks as they have licenses and have not been observed in the act of doing anything illegal HOWEVER : If you see anything that should be reported please call the above number as this warden lives 10 minutes from the lake. Thank you for helping to preserve our resources for enjoyment and recreational use of all.
City: Santa BarbaraTips: If you observe a child hooking a fish and an adult taking over to reel in and land this fish it would not be legal if that adult has already got a limit. Please help if you can, Thanks

Report: What a day! Got on the water at around 7am, launched the Kickboat from the end of Vaca flat and intended to row to the river. Instead stopped at a point before the first "remote camp". Started chucking the Huddleston, third cast I get hammered and feel the pull, I reel as fast as I can, it comes up and out and comes unbuttoned about 6' from me. It was at least 7-8lber, Heart breaking. Ended up fishing that same point for most of the day and getting a 4 and countless 2's dropshotting and dragging Brushhogs. Second stop was in the back of Salsipuedes bay, rain and wind was getting old, started throwing the blade and was rewarded with a 7.5 and a couple of 2's. Ended the day with at least 17.5 lbs for 5. Can't stop thinking about the one that got away...I would of topped 20 lbs easy. oh yeah, did I mention I was in a kickboat :)
Tips: The storm that came across was a big plus for fishing today....didn't bother with bed fishing. Points seemed to be good. If its raining or really overcast throw the swimbait or spinnerblade

Lopez Lake

Water Temp: 57-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished for four days. Fished the large zoom brush hog in watermellon candy pitched tight to the brush. Most strikes came immediatly. All fish on the hog were at least 2-3lbs or better. Wittenburgh and Arroyo produced the bulk of our good fish. Found a few bed fish that wanted to go in back of the coves in the brush pockets. Crank bite was very good DD22 in fire tiger or the new slick color produced alot of good fish over 3lbs. After it warmed up the texas bite on 8" dark colored worms were successfull. Thowse brush hog fish were alot of fun to catch! Chartruse blades were also good for a few keepers.
City: Baldwin Park, CaTips: DD22 fished down until it hits bottom and pause it. Wham your bit on the pause. Brush hogs need to hit the base of the brush or inside the pockets. Fish heavy line if you want to keep those fish from wrapping you up!

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: the bite was decent, but not great at all by Naci standards. numbers of smaller fish and plastics, but nothing over 2lbs. the fish I caught were on steeper rock. some of the usual flats edges I like yielded nothing. lots of traffic was on the lake, including a couple of tournaments. FYI to anyone reading this who is/knows someone in the club that had their weigh-in down next to the "old ramp" at the water's edge - it isn't cool to throw bass through the air when letting them go. I saw at least 3 people literally tossing bass 15-20 feet through the air from the water's egde. Not only does this make us bass fishermen look bad to the average joe, but it's just bad for the fish's health. after coming out of a livewell, being weighed, and put in a bag you gotta try harder do the right thing for the fish. walk over to the deeper water (20 feet away dummy) and let 'em go. don't ever let anyone in your club get away with this...
City: SBTips: keep moving around - spots don't like to sit around in one area.

Water Temp: 62 to 64
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went fishing on 3/22 and 3/23. On 3/22 got a late start but still managed to catch 45 fish between the 2 of us on rip baits and senco's on rocky points. On 3/23 everything changed. Could only catch fish on rocky boulders with shade. Caught about 100 fish between the 2 of us with about 10 to 2 1/2 pounds. Fun day most fish were 1 to 1 1/2 pounds no size but good quantity.
City: San JoseTips: Don't expect what was working one day to work 2 day's in a row.
