Water Temp: 49
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Lazy trip. Didn't throw out the irst lure until 11:00am.First ish 11:30. Nice two and a hal pounder. Bite went dead until 2:30pm. Then things heated up a little. Caught ive in the next hour and a hal. All between 2 and 3 lbs, except or one that went 6lb2oz. Wind started kicking at 4. I was using plastics, so things got tough. Still caught two more by 5:30pm. Probably lost 4 because o the wind(and old age). All in all, not a bad winters day o ishing. On the water or 6 1/2 hours. Eight in the boat. Four more that could have been. All on plastics. All between 2~12t. Best ive probably 16 to 17 lbs.
Tips: I don't think you need minnows anymore to catch ish.

Eastman Lake

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was on the lake in mid January. Bass ishing was slow but I hooked three nice rainbow trout by the dam on a gold cast master. The best o the three went 20 inches. So today I decided to try trolling the dam area again. Didn't get a bite. Headed over to the east side o the lake, beached the boat, and started soaking a inlated night crawler where I had metered ish in 10 t. o water. In less than ive minutes the rod was jumping out o the rod holder. Anyways I missed a big one. I ished the hole hard or at least an hour and got one more bite. Went back to the dam area and drited a crawler. Hooked a 3+ large mouth, in the same area I had ished with everything in the box. Just as I brought in the boat two other isherman came by and were impressed since they hadn't landed one all day. To quote him he said; "big ish to catch on a little riggin night crawler". Yah at least I caught one buddy. And he continued by as he through some little plastic thing that he must o got out o a happy meal box.
City: MercedTips: Use live bait. Or learn something most guys out here do not know.

Calero Reservoir
-
Water Temp: 49.5-51.5
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Havn't fished Calero for a couple of weeks ...fished from 9 to 5...Two of us cought 8 fish , all solid keepers with one going 7.5..All fish were cought on jigs except for one on a trap early..The big fish was cought on a jig in 20-22'..our other better fish were cought in that range as well..water is coming up ..the small over flow spill way is dumping a bunch of muddie water in ..and clear water is isolated to the main body..all that fresh water can shut the bite down if it blowes the lake out..It's flowing out of that spill way about 2 degrees colder than the rest of the lake..I think the water conditions are bringing the fish up more than I would call it a pre spawn mode..thats just my gut feeling..With good weather next month will be wide open for some great blade fishing...
City: San Jose -
Water Temp: 50
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: The recent rains muddied up the water quite a bit, but it didn't slow the bite. Three of us fished from 8:30 to 11:00 and managed to boat 5 nice fish. The largest was about 4 lbs. and the smallest was just under 3 lbs. All fish were right on the bank. We used small worms in dark colors and fished slowly. If the weather ever gets nice the bite should be awesome!
City: San JoseTips: Fish are in their pre-spawn mode...fish shallow and always practice catch and release!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hello all. I have been fishing Calero for nearly 14 years and have had my wins and losses, but most important of all, I ALWAYS practice catch & release. This is just a reminder to all the new anglers in our area that catch & release is VERY important, especially this time of year as spring and the spawn season approach. Good luck to all of you this season! See you out there!
