Report: Got on the water at daybreak! Brrrr!! Cold! Beautiful sunrise as well. Headed out to a main lake cove not far from the ramp. Immediately caught a fish on topwater. Wow! They still are biting on top and I'm thinking that is history! Wrong!! Move down the bank and get a HUGE explosion, but the fish missed it. Kept moving and that bite died. Started fishing slower and deeper and thats where the better fish are. Caught a few deep, then went back to topwater in the afternoon. A few missed fish doing that. Moved over to the bridge pilings for a few darthead fish and called it a day. Fun day!
Tips: Dress warm! Topwater bite is there if you can find it! Take your pick, deep fish or shallow. Deep fish are better quality, but topwater is a big fish technique as well.

Report: Started out around 8am. Started fishing shallow with no success. Moved out to deeper trees, approx 40 to 50ft. Started catching Quality fish deep on texas rigged plastics. Lost a few also that wrapped me up in the limbs. Got to winch them toads out fast or say goodbye. Tip! Use a fast reel like 7 to 1 or higher. Also use heavy line like 20lb flouro. Late in the afternoon, look for shade areas and DO NOT be afraid to throw a topwater! You might be pleasantly surprised! KaBOOM! Fish on! Dress warm in the am, then start shedding layers in the afternoon. Spoons will work as well, but be aware of the heavy cover down there as they will take your spoons fast! LOL!!

Isleton Fishing Report
Looks good as anglers take advantage of cooler water temperatures with Stripers and Smallmouth leading the way. Water temperatures have dropped with the cooler storms. The salmon bite remains good as season winds down. Salmon anglers are still seeing success around Ryde Hotel.
Walnut Grove Fishing Report
Fair for the trolling anglers, but fish cracking the 15 pound plus keeps anglers hopes up. Savage Prey series and Angry Eyes are the top choices here as well, there seems to bit more call for chartreuse patterns here. Bank fishermen Crawlers and cut baits prevail for plenty 2 to 4 pound catfish evenings are top for those looking for a few bites. Bass anglers try some smallie fishing, crankbaits and brown blue jigs and getting the Smallmouth.
Discovery Bay Fishing Report
Some nice fish coming out of Discovery Bay this week. Bigger fish have been falling for a 8" Savage Gear 3D SHINE GLIDE. Dropshot will put more fish in the boat but the size is just not there. A-rigs and Rip Baits starting to work well now. Dress warm and enjoy the your time in Discovery Bay. Some Nice fish are coming Cranking Square bills like the DDO custom KP used to land several like the one pictured this week.
Frank’s Tract Fishing Report
Stripers and bass bite both OK but ya gotta Slow down with the cold temperatures. It’s no secret what a little fall weather can do. Ripbaits are great options while small swim baits and swim jigs get the mention. We found plenty of Stripers and Black Bass with A-rigs, Swim Baits, like the Bone Colored Shine Glides getting grabbed. Lot of Stripers in main River and Mildred areas.
West Delta Fishing Report
The West as in Honker Bay to the Bait tossers are getting fish when wind cooperates. Sturgeon quietly is slipping into the spotlight. Eel is the best bait over all, but night crawlers, roe and shad also scoring diamondbacks Broad slough and surrounding cuts. There were many shaker sturgeon reports in double power lines in Decker Island and Sherman Island. Most of the nice stripers coming soaking Shad and sardines . Hair jigs and swimbaits are best for Lure tossers
Las Vaqueros Fishing Report
Fishing for trout continues to be good even with the increased water temperature. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers are garlic-scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmaster lures. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. Trout fishing is good especially in the morning, with limits being caught from around the reservoir and more fish being caught overall. Several large trout were brought into the Marina this week. These included an 8 pound fish caught on a Kastmaster in South Cove, a 7.1 pounder caught in Cowboy Cove on powerbait and a 7.2 pound trout caught on a nightcrawler in South Cove. More limits are starting to show up from South Cove and from boats around the lake.
Contra Loma Fishing Report
500 Pounds of trout planted this week have anglers smiling. While there are very few anglers taking advantage of the put and take trout fishery here that action is solid. Kastmasters and floating baits are the keys. Marshmallows and crawlers are working for Loma regulars.

Report: Started early in the morning ( 7am). Catching our first fish in about 10 min. Then things went slow. Catching a fish every half hour or so. Until about noon. Water temp moved up as did the bite. The fish where schooled up. If you found one stop and beat the area up. We would catch 3 or 4 fish off the school. Then come back about an hour later and do it again. We ended the day with 25 between the two of us. All mice fish 2lb to 4lbs.
Tips: On cold night fish deeper 10 to 15 feet. Found a better bite on smaller baits. Last I was using the underpins with white trailer and silver blade. Keithech swing impack 3 in. The fat impack didn't receive the same attention

Report: I fished the last 3 hours yesterday at Collins and was surprised to see some of the local guys had just completed a small fun tournament (I guess it was fun!). One of the fellows said the bite was pretty good, but no big bass. As I was about to launch, another bass rig arrived for the late afternoon. it was open house! Anyway, I caught 2 spotted bass at the dam (about 30 feet) and 2 more on island tops. The 4 spots were between 1 1/2 and 2 lbs. Missed 2 or 3 others. Bright sun when I arrived and then cloud cover with wind moved in - and cleared out when I left at dark. Weird! No bites on topwater this time. Lake need to cool a bit more which might get a good bite going.
Tips: Collins has risen several feet in the last 2 weeks. Most of the buoyed areas are deeper now. I caught my 4 bass on #301 Senkos with an inserted nail weight. Couldn't get a jig bite this trip. Bass should started hanging in the deeper part of the lake. I only had one good shallow bite, but missed her!

Report: Alarm off at 5 am as always, turn the coffee on and open the door for the cat and hear WIND blowing in the trees and give the hooked up boat and trailer a glance and say, got to be kidding me, can't take my little boat on the water at Bidwell, going to have waves for a few hours. So, drinking coffee thinking about the structure that wend back under water with the last few storm. Now 701.57 feet, right where the water was when Fish were hanging on a drop off about a month ago. Looks like we got a fair boost in water, up 12.11 feet from low water mark a few weeks ago. Should be about a half a foot from the tip of Lime saddle ramp. Try again next week!!

Isleton Fishing Report
The salmon bite remains spotty as season winds down. The bite in the area just improved all week. Striper anglers are seeing success. a few fishing finally started getting solid reports of success from Striper searching anglers with P-Line Predators leading the way. Water temperatures have dropped with the cooler evenings. Many anglers to the west are seeing more stripes daily… getting close.
Walnut Grove Fishing Report
Slowed way down for Salmon still occasional scores reported Silvertrons and K-14 getting mentioned. Best area has been Courtland to Walnut grove. More Stripes are in the area as anglers recover still around as temperatures return more seasonable in the Walnut Grove area as the trolling bite is OK with Predators and Savage Prey. Red Eye Shad and small shad patterned plastics are the top choices here as well. Rip baits are scoring Largemouth and Smallmouth in the Meadows.
Discovery Bay Fishing Report
Black Bass cooler evening temps have water temperatures dropping and the bite on upswing!. Rip baits and Drop-shotting getting mentioned often now for the largemouth. Stripers that had been starting to group up in the Marina side seem to have disappeared. Have faith! They are still in the area, the bait and stripes are in main river Holland riverside south to Italian Slough. Dan’s Classic Shimmer Jigs and Strike King RedEye Shad getting bit.

Stripers and bass bite both doing Ok as they respond well to the cooler temperatures. It’s no secret what a little fall weather can do. Ripbaits are great options while small swim baits and swim jigs get the mention. We found a few Stripers and Black Bass with Hair Jigs, Weedless Swimmers like the BIG 6thSense Hollow Bodies getting grabbed. More Stripers in main River and Mildred areas.
West Delta Fishing Report
Anglers in search of stripers are finding solid numbers of keeper stripers from both boat and bank. Most of the nice stripers coming soaking Shad, anchovies and sardines . Antioch Pier scored stripers 17pounds this week. Shad is top offering. The West as in Honker Bay to the Broad Slough plug casting is getting fish when wind cooperates. Sturgeon quietly is slipping into the spotlight. Eel is the best bait over all, but roe and shad also scoring diamondbacks Broad slough and surrounding cuts.

The kids and I were on the water early and bee lined to the Old River area. We spent most of our time in those canals near Holland's Riverside Marina. Thanks to Mr Lassagne's recent report on his FB page of throwing cranks, we busted out the red square bills. I've read plenty about the necessity of red on the Delta, but combined with my lack of confidence in cranking, I hadn't thrown the red cranks up until today. Well, I learned something today. The fish like red cranks.... :D We didn't catch anything bigger than 3 lbs, and most were a pound or two, but it was still fun. The bass were crushing it. I didn't miss a single fish. Caught somewhere around 30 in about 5 hours of fishing. My little boy and girl also were able to get their first crank fish. We didn't do anything special...just burned them along grasslines and right down the pipe of some of the smaller channels ( 8 ft or less) I could find. The fish closer to 3 lbs would come up off the bottom of the smaller channels to smack the baits. It was a good day for crankbait confidence.

Not much to report again. We only put a 3.5 lb smallie and a twin chunk largie in the boat in about 4 hours of fishing. As I'm sure anyone who has been on the lake has seen, there are a ton of "fish" in 40-50 feet of water near any of the main lake coves and points, herding bait. I'm sure it was a mix of every predatory fish in the lake. You can see the bait balls on the fish finder, and they seem to chase a few up to the surface every so often too. I got the smallie on a rattle trap in 35 feet of water ripping it through a baitball, and my son got the largemouth on a 1/2 oz blade bait in 50 feet of water. It was tough getting them to eat on that pattern. I threw a bunch of stuff at them from really finesse type stuff to the rattletrap, etc. If it had been a tourney and I HAD to get that five in the boat, I think we could have just hammered away with the blade bait and rattle trap to get a few more reaction bites. We went exploring though, since this is only our second trip to the lake. I kept looking for some other pattern than that 50 foot depth, but couldn't really find much. The backs of coves were devoid of anything other than coots.

Report: The bass fishing on New Melones remains good and we are have much success on each guided trip. The quality sized bass are definitely starting to show up. In the last couple months we have caught a handful of 2 to 3-pound fish and boated spotted bass up to 6-pounds.
This past week was crazy! I landed an absolute giant 15.19-pound largemouth. This fish was caught while drop shotting a small shad patterned worm on 4# line.
The weather is changing daily which makes for unpredictable fishing conditions. The water temperature continues to drop as we approach the winter months. These conditions will pull a large population of fish out into deeper water. We have already been finding quality bass 40 to 50-feet deep. Each day is different and fishing a variety of areas and depths will prove successful.
Bass feed on many different types of forage, but at this time of year they really key in on shad and crawdads. The shad can be found schooling on the main lake and at the mouths of the major creek arms. To find areas holding crawdads look for banks that have large chunks of rock.
Drop shotting a small shad pattern worm has been a go-to method for quite some time. It is a match-the-hatch approach that the fish can’t refuse. Also, vertical jigging a spoon can be productive once a school of feeding bass has been located.
Crawdad patterned worms fished on a shakey head can be used around in rocky areas to trigger strikes. The jig bite is getting better each day. A ½-ounce football head jig with a twin-tail trailer is a great choice. Focus on natural crawdad colors, browns and greens work best.Tips: Last but not least, we are approaching swimbait season. The large trout eaters will be feeding and for those who want a shot at a fish of a lifetime, now's the time. It is a very low percentage technique, but when you do get bit it is usually a big one. Report: I took two good fishermen out of Markley on Sunday - a rare Sunday trip for me. It was a nice fall day with little and eventually NO wind. It is amazing to see water as warm as this around Thanksgiving! Bite was fair, but not good. They caught around 10 bass of all 3 species, but nothing over 2 lbs. Couldn't find that 6 1/4 we released the other night - LOL!! I forgot to bring the spoons which might have helped. Drop-shotting Robo worm worked best. Saw a lot of bait at 30 to 60 feet but not many bass around the bait. Bait balls were tight. No bird activity all day, no fish chasing bait, just a very quiet day on the main body.
Tips: Hard to give tips after a slow day. I just feel that the colder nights have arrived which might have thrown off the bite somewhat. Clients were good anglers - not their fault.

Report: I took two guys and a gal out for some night fishing, and, of course, it was the coldest night so far. And very damp - not the best of conditions. Not any wind though. Some trip are quality, not quantity, The older gentleman was fishing the 7" Power worm I gave him and had a great hit around 7:30 pm. It had been awhile since I had to use both hands to lift the net and the bass into the boat. She was a beauty, going at least 6 1/4 lbs - a largemouth. I might have hear him look at the younger man and say: "that's how its done!" Naw, I sure I didn't hear that! A little while later I felt my Power worm get stuck in some wood - I thought. No bite! She came half-way in with no movement. Then she understood the situation!!! Wow - she went all over the place and finally in the net. She turned out to be a 4 lb spotted bass - my biggest spot at Berryessa. I've been close, but never there. All my big spots are from other lakes. We had a few more soft bites, but no hookups.
The bite was just dead. Only 2 bass - but worth it!Tips: I was hoping they could get a few casts before dark, but they couldn't make it in time. I think his bass and mine were about the same depth - 15 to 20 feet. His was on a point and mine was on a wall. We fished some good looking areas in the narrows and saw a lot of bait, but the cold night just killed the bite.

Report: Have not been to this lake in over 7 years...Went out with buddy and caught a spoon fish on the first drop. We stayed with it and sexy shad cranks and rattletraps all day. We caught smallmouth,largemouth crappie,trout,catfish. They must have put in some big trout recently as we had three rainbows between 3-4 pounds on rattle traps. The crappie came on spoons and were more than a pound each. One smallmouth was close to 3 pounds. All and all a fun day on the water. Bring a plug knocker as the fish were in 27-30 feet and there is a lot of brush to get through and we got hung up more than we would have liked but only lost one spoon. 3/4 oz. Chrome hopkins shorty or it's equal will work.
Tips: Shear stone walls worked best for us. the fish wanted a big rip and drop but that is tough to do with all the wood on the bottom. Slow rolled the rattle traps at the mouths of small cuts or coves and the trout just slammed the baits. Best trout trap was a strike king 1/2 oz. sexy shad color.

The salmon bite winding down as is the season. The bite in the area has been just mediocre all week. While we are continuing to getting reports of success from Salmon searching anglers, still Spinners are leading the way. Water temperatures have dropped with the cooler evenings. While fewer are fishing they are seeing larger salmon getting close. Stan’s Spinners are the best bet for those who want to try.
Walnut Grove Fishing Report
Stripes and sturgeon showing. More Stripes are in the area as anglers see the fall bite picks up. still around as temperatures return more seasonable in the Walnut Grove area as the trolling bite is OK mostly small fish. Red Eye Shad and small shad patterned plastics are the top choices here as well. Bloody Eel and Ghost are starting to get a few Sturgeon.
Discovery Bay Fishing Report
Wow Water temps finally in the upper 50’s have the bite stabilizing. Watch for birds as the bait finally balls up making it a bit easier to target both blackies and stripers. Smaller Stripers are moving throughout the Disco area and attacking A-rigs, Swimbaits and finally Big Wood like Dan’s Delta Mizers. The Stripes and Blacks are in main river Holland riverside south to Italian Slough. Hair Jigs and Strike King Bad To The Bone RedEye Shad getting bit. Black Bass cooler evening temps have water temperatures dropping and the bite on upswing! Reaction bites during the weather more finesse techniques when storms pass.

Antioch Pier scored stripers to 33 inches this week. Shad is top offering. The West as in Honker Bay to the Broad Slough plug casting is getting fish when wind cooperates. Go On Top with Dan’s Delta Mizers, during the day go old school with Hair Jigs Like Dan’s Classic Shimmer jigs or Spro in open water White/Dark Green and White/Blue best this week. Sturgeon are grabbing the spotlight. Eel is the best bait over all, but roe and shad also scoring diamondbacks Broad slough and surrounding cuts.

Plants of trout continues to spurs the action. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. Report: Got an early launch, not a single trailer in the lost, first on the lake as usual, right at 6:30 am. Slight breeze, ended up a picture perfect day on the water. Headed to N. Fork, found 2 bucks dead center of the beginning of north fork, kind of main lake, looking for ladies on the other side. Bite was decent, thing the steady water level helped a lot, water up a food, down a 1/3, up a half, back and forth all week, making for near steady water level, up 4 feet or so today. Made about 6-7 stops, found fish ever stop. Again, got a 14 1/4" LM, seems the last 4-5 trips got a LM or two each trip. What's up with this, never this way in the past. Spots were typical, 12 1/2-13 1/2", none bigger today. Stopped my quest right at 10:15 am. Picture just a typical spot, battery died so let the LM go without stressing her. Picture in fishing forum.

Cool weather and some rain has moved the Salmon fishing right along. The cooler water temperatures helped the Striper bite tremendously. Swimbaits and Dan’s Topwaters are working well. Savage 3d glides also getting the nod. Also Cranking Bandit 200 hundred cranks smacking the Smallies

Stripers lead the way. Bank anglers live and cut baits prevail for those searching for Stripers. The Sacramento Turning Basin is still decent here as there continues to be stripes caught there by lure tossers. Hair jigs and small shad patterns are the top choices here as well..
Discovery Bay Fishing Report
Plenty of stripers are in the area as well. Stripes grabbing P-Line Angry Eyes and Savage prey Baits. Bass pushing the 2 to 4 pounds mark are showing on occasion Prank Poppers and swim jigs are the best for numbers . Stick with the Reaction baits tied on as Crankbaits and blades are scoring bass on the main runway rock walls.
Franks Tract Fishing Report
Black Bass Anglers spinnerbaits and Wack-A-Sack Senkos are getting mention for those targeting deeper grass. Striped bass are scattered in the area. A few Top Water And swim bait fish are showing for lure tossing anglers. Drifting Bluegill and Minnows are the key for Stripers.
West Delta Fishing Report
Wow Sturgeon are surging! Many tags filled with Roe and Eel. Broad Slough and Pittsburg PG&E leading the charge. Antioch pier persistent bait dunkers with Anchovies and Sardines are finding fun action. Anglers in search of stripers are finding the bite to be decent but still those who stick with it are getting keepers to 12 pounds on occasion from both boat and bank. Honker Bay to the Broad Slough provide anglers more and more better Stripers each day!
South Delta Fishing Report
Senko’s and spinnerbaits are key for Bass. Bait Anglers are catching catfish and panfish throughout the area, While cutbaits and livers are tops for the catfish, the panfish respond to worms under bobbers. Those fishing the forebay are seeing stripes on lures and bluegill.

Report: This is my first weekend fishing this lake and low and behold, tournament going on, making for a busy ramp! Guessing my last weekend fishing, as I tend not to fish weekends, due to the crowds. Got launched about 6:15 am or so, stopped fishing right at 10 am. Bite way off from last trip, fish seemed scattered and not in the frenzy biting mood. First cast a 14 3/4" LM, best fish of the day. Only caught 12 fish today, most the basic 13-13 1/2" size. Perfect day on the water, just a slight breeze, clouds, picture perfect looking this morning, just not a great bite. Found fish 15 feet to 35 feet, most in that 30-35 foot range. Hope next week fish are in a better mood Released all fish as always. Picture in fishing forum.

Report: Guys trip to Shasta on October 28th and 29th. Fished for bass all day long on Saturday. Fish finder said they were there, but we tried plastic (twin tail grubs; worms; etc), crank baits; drop shot; umbrella rig with little success. Four fish in 8 hours and none bigger than a pound. Spoke to a local and he said he had same results.
Changed focus and went up Sacramento arm toward river on Sunday. We changed tackle and fished for trout (sorry, we are traitors). We could not miss. 34 fish in four hours for the 4 of us. (We released them all). Large one at about 2.5 pounds. Best tackle was the good ole cast master. Had a strike on almost every cast. Trolled back to the boat ramp and picked up 6 more fish.
A fantastic day!Tips: Fish for what's biting! Sometimes the best tackle is the old tackle.
