Scroungers tipped with flukes and DDO crank are good choices here for the hard fighting smallies.

Bank anglers using worms and cut baits prevail for those searching for Whiskerfish. The Sacramento Turning Basin is still decent here as there continues to be stripes caught there by lure tossers. Spoons and small shad patterns are the top choices here as well.. Few More Salmon reports in the area as anglers recover still around as temperatures return more. Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-81 degrees, elevation 764.28
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got launched at Lime Saddle about 5:45 am, stopped fishing at 10 am, as it was really getting hot with no breeze. Water still warm as can be, still 80-81 degrees, worst part, algae seems to be really clouding up the water with all the warmth this summer and it seems to hurt the bite some? Caught 18 spots today, best right at 14 1/2", and another surprise large mouth caught very close to the last one I caught. Small one, just 13 1/2" but a rare catch for Oroville. Most all fish went 13 to 13 1/2" today, with just two smaller 12" caught. Wishing for cooler weather, cooler water and better size fish that come with it. Water dropped 10.28 feet the last week, seems they are going to shut down Lime Saddle by the end of summer!! Pictures in fishing forum.

Tenmile Lake

Water Temp: 70-72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Awesome Lake, First time fishing it. Thanks to Ringo, at Lakeside Marina for the in site on the lake. Took my son and on the second cast using a Chart/white spinner bait caught our first 2lb fish off a shallow lay down.2nd fish came off the end of a dock pilling using a Hematoma 420 sweat beaver just over 3lbs. Continued using spinner baits and Zoom green pumpkin brush hog to fill best 5 bag of 17lbs. Great lake.
Tips: Fish shallow in the morning, go deeper when sun comes out. Find shady corners of docks later in the after noon for the better fish.

Report: I know about the die off and have seen some of it. Do not fear - there are many, many, bass still very much alive! My sore thumb nearly fell off lipping around 60+ bass for my clients. I lost my net last trip and forgot to get a new one. So Larry - a couple of guys were your clients, right? Not quite. A father and his 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter. Thank goodness for 21 ft Rangers!! I think this was their first official family bass trip. I told the bass to be on their best behavior, and they were. A 6 1/2 hour bite, unbelievable! it never slowed We used a variety of plastics, mostly Robo worms in 2 or 3 different colors. MM111 is coming on as fall approaches! Morning Dawn is still hot, along with the weather. We fished several areas mid-lake, working 5 to 15 feet of water. We also used Yamamoto Flappin' Hogs and some jigs w/Yamamoto trailers. I believed I worked harder on this trip then any in memory - someone had a bass on all the time with their triple hookup even - the whole family had one on except the wife - and she wasn't there!! I figured I'd net dad's first since he had the money - LOL! I've seen this happen before - as the afternoon set in, the fish got bigger. Both kids got one near 4 lbs. The success of this trip was only possible because I didn't have to be on the trolling motor - no wind to speak of. I was free to net 24/7!!
Mike Sperbeck and I fished the lake on Thursday afternoon and found good action also. We fished the Rattlesnake Arm and up to Soda Bay. Again, an amazing shallow bite in the wind, bass biting in the top 5 feet. Mostly jigs that trip. We caught over 50 in 5 hrs, up to 4 1/4 lbs. As I mentioned before on a previous post, no dinks any more, just good bass in the 2 to 4 lb range.Tips: Though the bite is good nearly everywhere, it is a struggle to find a fish over 5 lbs in the southern area of the lake. Many of those bigger bass have a new zip code. What is that zip code for the Lakeport area now???

Launched at B and W around 530 with a good high tide, we then ran up river a few miles and started fishing the main river throwing frogs and senkos. It was bitting great with the occasional better fish until we ran into this skinny girl, which went 8lbs even. As soon the the tide fell out so did the bite. We continued to scratch rats untill 2 when we left. -

Report: Got launched way to early today about 5:35 am, stopped fishing at 10 am. Another weird day with no sun rise to fire up the bite, slow fishing the entire time we had cloud cover. Good part, only one dink at 12", all the rest 13" to 14 1/2" and another one of those pike minnows right at 4 pounds, for a total of just 18 fish. Second pike minnow this year, so weird, never caught any over 5 years, till this year. Better bite came deeper today, fishing as deep as 50 foot, better fish 30-35 foot mark. Windy, then calm, windy, then calm, water still 81 degrees! Spots seem to be putting weight back on, getting much fatter then a month ago.Pictures in fishing forum.

Report: Got launched at 5:30 am at Lime Saddle, stopped fishing at 10 am as it began to warm up. Decent day, caught 23, surprise, caught a large mouth, so excited, forgot to measure it, looks to be about 13 1/2" or so. Small fish plentiful, about half the fish 12" size, the other half 13" to 14 1/2" as my best for the day. Picked up fish to 45 feet, mostly 20-35 feet. Hot water not helping the bite, high 82 degrees, mostly 81 degrees. Thought I had a giant spot for a second, weight, no fight!! catfish hit a roboworm, soon as it hit bottom. Guessing dropped it right in front of his mouth! Water beginning a faster drop, 1 foot a day, but twice a week 2 foot drops. Guess they are going for that 700 foot mark sooner then later. Clear Lake

Water Temp: 80-84
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well "clum," another successful day trip! Can't help it - LOL!!! Seriously, I took a client to Clear Lake yesterday who knows the lake some, but wanted to learn more productive areas to fish. We looked over areas from Red Bud to Soda Bay. The bite started out slow but got much better as the cloud cover thinned out during the day. I was curious to see if a front from the south would shut off the bite during the day, as it always does at night. We had a great trip, so I guess that weather pattern doesn't bother the day bite. We fished mostly soft plastics - worms, beavers, Yamamoto Flappin' Hogs, and other baits he was throwing. Darker colors worked best. Again, we found bass pretty shallow in spite of lots of Friday pleasure boat activity. We landed over 40 nice bass, with a 4.12 big one and a few bigger than last trip, some over 3 lbs up to 3 1/2. I showed him two areas that I hadn't fished for awhile, and they were good too. Those resident bass must have missed me!! Our best five was again around 16 to 17 lbs.
Tips: Just a concern that I had yesterday, previously hearing about some dead bass on the surface recently. We did see 4 or 5 dead bass - actually one nearly dead that was a quality bass around 7 or 8 lbs - dying on the surface. All the bass we caught seemed fine. My client was fishing worms a lot, and some jigs. I threw jigs of different colors and again brown or brown orange seemed to work well. MM111 Robo worms worked better yesterday, especially in the afternoon. Didn't get around to Senkos yesterday as other baits were working well. My client called the big fish yesterday - fun, fun. There is a dock that he likes that I really don't fish. He got a 3 1/4 and I got the 4.12. Good call! I noticed the surface algae has moved further north, but is not bad at all.

Water Temp: 80-81, elevation 792.77
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Lime Saddle about 5:30 am, stopped fishing at 9:15 am before it got hot!! Weird day on the lake with the smoke in the air, like the sun never really rose and fish seemed to know and were not fired up to bite like clear sunny mornings. No big fish at all, all fish ranged from 12" to 13 1/2", and managed to land 21 fish today. Water super warm, 80-81 degrees, to me, hurts the bite lots, way too warm. Not the best pictures, but showing the ridge line that holds fish well when 15 feet plus under water. High and dry now!! Pictures in fishing forum.

Amador Lake

Report: From Glory Hole Sports
Amador
You can can call the lake full with both docks available in the water. The die hard anglers are still putting trout on the stringer. In order to find them you are going to fish around 20-28 feet deep in the main lake. It looks like the trout plants are over until it starts to cool down in October. The bait of choice is Power Bait and mini night crawlers. Some people are trolling minnow imitation lures, spoons, or worms. The bass are in post spawn habits, most bass fishermen are using a variety of plastics, Senkos and drop-shot being at the top of the list. Crappie and Bluegill are good for shore fishing, find some brush or wood structure or put some time in at the docks and sink a minnow or crappie jig. Don't forget to give the Catfish a try.

Report: I took out Ed and Jeff did not do well a few dinks. Water like a mirror no wind and no fish very hot back at the dock by noon was disappointing. Went out on my own when the sun went down caught a limit of fish between 1.5 and 3lb. Next day took KG and Jenny out some wind on the water a few keeper bass Jenny holding a 3.7lb bass (see photo).
'til next time.................................................................good fishing!!!!!

Camanche
The Trout fishing has slowed some as the hot weather picks up. You can still find a limit of Bass or Bluegill if you put in the time. Throw top water lures like the Whopper Ploppers being my favorite first thing in the morning then pull out your drop-shot rod in the afternoon.

New Hogan Lake
-
Report: From Glory Hole Sports
New Hogan
The water is warm and has dropped about 4-6 feet in the last month. The Stripers are pushing the shad to the surface for some really fun topwater action. It's a morning and late afternoon bite. Most boats are using white Whopper Ploppers or shad colored fluke's on the surface. On a good day you can put 8-10 fish in the boat, just fishing a couple of hours before dark.
The boats trolling are in front of the boat ramp area and using Alabama rig or frozen shad. The Black Bass are in the post spawn mode top water action works in the morning and evening but you need to pull out the senko rod and fish deep in the afternoon or find those islands tops with quick access to deep water.

Bill's fishing Report 5
New Melones
From Glory Hole Sports
The Trout action still seems to be the big action on the lake. You can't go wrong, if the Kokanee fishing is slow the Trout have no problems biting the Kokanee set ups. People are weighing in big numbers of healthy fat Trout all aggressively taking the pink or purple hoochies behind a Rocky Mountain dodger the same setup used for Kokanee. Ernie Leveras did just that at 60 feet deep trolling at the 49 Bridge was able to boat 6 beautiful Trout in the morning. Our local guide Gary Burns said he is rigging his gear with Kokanee setups Apex in watermelon or silver and blue with or without a dodger topped off with with his garlic corn at 60 feet deep trolling at 1.5mph. And pulling in big numbers on the Trout.
Fishing these post pawn Bass in the morning throwing Whopper Ploppers is the ticket and using drop-shot rigs also are producing big numbers of bucket mouths. Customers of the Glory Hole Sports reported catching and releasing 30 large mouth bass in just an afternoon outing.
Glory Hole Sports customer hit the water on July 26 and weighed in 2 nice Largmouth Bass he caught floating minnows in 12 feet of water off the shoreline fishing wacky rig setup.

Pardee Lake

Report: From Glory Hole Sports
Pardee
The lake is full and beautiful just be careful up river of all the floating wood debris.Trout and Kokanee are still being caught. Set your downrigggers at about 30-40 feet deep. The bait most people mention is pink and watermelon hoochies behind a small dodger. The bank fishermen are doing good next to the stony Creek spillway, rainbow point using power bait.
