Report: Fished Amador last night rom 10:00 pm to 6:00 am (no moon). Partner and I caught 12 ish up to 4 pounds and missed 4 top water bites and 5 or 6 hits on plastics.Best ish (4 pounds) came on a buzzbait at 2:00 am...what a thrill! Also caught ish on 7" Cuttail worms (green pumpkin, rootbeer) ished with a 1oz bullet weight pegged 5" up the line, 9L Senkos (green pumpkin, watermelon seed, and black/blue) ished wacky/weightless, jigs (black/red) dragged along drop os and Dead Ringers (black/red) ished T-rigged. Note: all productive colors were dark. Tried chartreuse, white and clear with no bites. All ish came in less than 20' with most in less than 10'. Missed top water ish between 10pm and 1am. Probably would have had better success with a slower top water bait like a Spook. But, in the pitch black, the buzzbait was much more orgiving when tossed into trees or up on the bank. Also, broke o a toad on a Senko at irst light...hit in 2' o water.
      City: Fair Oaks

Tips: When daytime high temperatures shut down the bite, switch to night ishing.

Ran to ind some mats to teach my (11 year old) Niko to rog ish. Got a ew blow-ups right away. I was watching my rog when a heard a slurp in the back o the boat. Saw Niko set the hook, I told him to him to set it again and keep the rod up. He got it to the boat. His irst rog ish weighting in at 4.8 pounds. That made our day. Great job Nicholas. We end the day with a photo and a great memory.
      City: Fremont

Tips: Look or the mats and throw that rog. Fish are on current. Catch you on the water.

Report: Took my buddy Will out or a ew hours o relaxing Bass ishing. Got there beore 6:00 am, third in line. Started with topwater over the weedbeds in the narrows. We connected or three ish on the Rico, all keepers, largest pushed 5 pounds. Missed two other blow ups. Will also scored a ew smaller ish, including a nice Bluegill on an in line spinner. Rest o the morning was a mixed bag. One keeper smallmouth on a Watermelon Senko and a 2lb black on a dart headed brown worm in Swallow Bay. The wind picked up and we moved to the south end. Picked up another Senko ish and a couple more 2 pounders Carolina rigging a 6" Zoom pumpkin lizard. O the water at noon.
      City: San Ramon

Tips: Get there early. Poppers over the weed beds. I'm talking about the weeds that are in 6-7 eet o water, in ront o the tules. Ater the topwater dies go either 15-20 eet down or drag a worm through the weeds beds in the south end.

Report: Fished the Bryant/Crenshaw Memorial with Cris VanCle. Had quite a day o catching considering we stopped ishing at 11:30 or our 12:00p weigh-in. Caught about 25 ish all morning, but o those maybe only 10 were keeper ish above 13". Our best ish, a 4+ came on a popper. Very subtle bite, even trickier to git em to strike and hold onto the popper. We lost 3 really good ish that took the popper down but never got hooked. Also lost a 5-6 pound ish on a rog, which came unbuttoned hal way back through the slop. The better ish all came on topwater baits. Never got bit on a buzzbait. We did catch quite a bit o numbers on a PBJ worm as well as a brown jig-n-grub combo. Swearengin & Merill took top honors in this event by lippen plastics, and secured the victory with an 8+ pound kicker 5 minutes beore their weigh-in on a rog. They had over 25 pounds or their best 7 ish. It's summer time in the Delta.
      City: Oakley

Tips: Tis the season to be tossing topwater baits early and all day long. Beore the sun comes up, slow ish the poppers. Buzzbait the weedlines where ya ind the shad starting to school. Frogs the rest o the day. Jigs and worms will work on transition points and ledges where the current is present. And i ya can't ind that topwater bite, let's go lippen!

Report: I was planning to ish Amador with a riend o mine but wound up ishing solo as he didn't eel well enough to come. I ished only about 6 hours - getting some evening topwater (smaller bass up to 1 3/4 lbs) and then some night ishing When I irst started a 4 or 5 pound bass hit my spook right at the boat - but pilot error - I think I set too quick!!. The leet was out, probably because o a previous post. Probably the most boats I have seen in the dark o the moon - many let early cause the ishing wasn't that good. I did ok, catching my biggest at 4-13 right at dark on a junebug Dead Ringer worm. Ater dark I used Berkely Power worms, Camanche Jack 10" zipper worms and 11" black Gator Tails. The best bite was about 20 eet. I caught lots o bass that actually were eeding - they hit pretty hard. I don't know how many I caught, but my 5 biggest were about 15 1/2 lbs. One o my 4 pounders was so skinny that I could have put a tip on her nose and shot her as an arrow! Now that is skinny!! Nothing great to report considering the heat, but a good trip anyway.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I did not ind many ish on points, mostly on walls and creek channels. Topwater ish were all over!

      Water Temp: 73-82

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: LAKE POWELL FISH REPORT JUNE 26, 2003By Wayne Gustaveson Lake Elevation: 3616Water Temperature: 73-82 FThe lake has reached its high point and will now slowly decline. That's good news or anglers battling muddy water at Hite where runo has made ishing extremely challenging. When the lake clears the stained water will produce a huge crop o plankton. The many shad spawned this spring will take advantage o the plankton bloom and grow quickly in size and number. Good orage conditions will prevail or the rest o the year. For this week it would be wise to ish in clear water. Bullrog/Halls boasts the best ishing or stripers and smallmouth bass. On a calm morning expect striper boils to start beore sunup and continue until about 9 AM. Surace eeding is repeated rom 6 to 9 each evening. Windy days spoil the topwater bite. The best action is ound in the moored houseboat ields at Bullrog and Halls and right in the main travel lanes as boats leave Bullrog Marina and head toward Halls. Stripers are in tight schools swimming shoulder-to-shoulder and not making much surace disturbance. They are eeding on larval shad which drit near the surace and do not swim well. Swimming and slurping in unison eeding stripers look more like a boat wake or wind rile. Investigate these strange looking surace disturbances by casting a Super Spook Jr. into the ray. You may ind more stripers than you can imagine during late June. Since the stripers do not need to swim ast to catch small shad the boil moves along at about 3 mph. Boat toward these ish in the same leisurely manner and they will stay on top. Rushing into the boil will make the ish go down only to resurace well out o casting range. Observe the school's direction o travel and idle to a point well ahead o the school. Let the boil come to you or best results. Smallmouth ishing is good lakewide but the summer pattern is well in place. Casting plastic grubs to the shallow shoreline is not eective. Bass are holding along the 25 oot contour. Park the boat in normal casting range to reach the shoreline but drop the lure straight down under the boat to ind deeper ish. Summer bass like a ree-loating, slow moving bait. The most eective presentations are the drop-shot or split shot rigs. The hook is about 18 inches rom the weight in both techniques. Drop- shot rigs have the weight on the bottom and hook tied up the line with a Palomar knot. The split shot rig is just the opposite with the bait on the bottom and the weight up the line. In both cases, let the weight touch bottom. Hold the lure in place and then wiggle it a ew times beore moving it to the next spot. When a bass picks it up, use a steady sweep as a hook set instead o quick lick o the wrist. Wahweap Bay has been slow ishing except or the deep bass rigs. Fishing improves with distance traveled uplake. The San Juan is still good near Neskahi Bay. Fish deep or bass and very early and late or boiling stripers.
