Water Temp: 54.6
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Finally -! A great day with a new fishing friend. Had a super time and a day that proved worth going to Lopez.. Full moon, sunshine, very little wind but a very tough morning.
Hit all the fav spots with NADA - ZIP. Jigs, cranks, creatures, nothing was enticing a bite. Finally headed to the dam at noon as we knew we could hook up. Pulled out the dropshot and heaved out. BANG. Never hit bottom and I scored on a small large. We hit several more before moving towards the log-boom area and heaved out across the booms. Three more casts and YANK! Got my best ever bass at the lopes. Digital scale showed a 7-14 so out came the camera. After claming down, I tossed back out and BANG, another keeper in the 3.9 range.. Day is looking better ! More pix's and tossed out three or four more times and BANG, a nice 6.2 kicker! Yehaw. Oxblood light Red Flake Robo I love ya! Headed in a 1PM with a smile.
City: SMTips: Fish were deep. 35-45 feet and deeper but very lathargic. Work it slow, then slow down some more. My big fish were in 35 foot range against the rocks then worked it back. .

Water Temp: 53.2
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Wow... Bite is still tough. Myself and three other made a visit today to check out the bite. Was still way off. Hard to figure out the situation right now. With no trout plants being scheduled, we are seeing less and less trollers which in a way is good but sad.
Water situation is still decreasing and it is evident the lake needs a good storm or two to help replenish reserves.
AS FOR TAGS. They went on sale today but be advised, in January 1, they will increase by $20 so get them early. Seniors are still $72 for both truck and boat then jump in Jan.

Water Temp: 64.2
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Finally I made it back up to the 'Pez after a long layoff. The last trip was so crappy I swore I'd never waste another day there again. Lost all kinds of rigs and only caught 1 short smally on a flick-shake. I hate that thing. To make matters worse I broke a blade off my Ninja prop in the marina and then slipped out on the trailer and took a spill into the water to end my day. Cold ride home in a wet pair of Ugg boots.
But this trip I was determined to get on some fish. I started the day off well. The inspection is pretty easy to get through and the rangers are cooler than most lakes. I got into the water around 7 and went into my favorite cove back towards Vazquez. Pulled up on a little point and put 2 quick fish in the boat on a cinnamon blue R&R striker butler worm. I had a feeling I could get an upgrade so I grabbed my swimbait rod and fired hard over the point. The rod nearly flew out of my hands as I sustained one of the worst backlashes I've ever seen. I picked through the mess with a Phillips head screwdriver for 20 minutes but it was hopeless.
I spent a couple hours back in Lopez arm metering around. Saw lots of shad out of the deeper points. Dropped some spoons down on 'em but couldn't connect on anything bigger than a 10 incher.
After a nice lunch break for T-Bell burritos while moored up at the dam I ran into Whittenberg for the afternoon session. I tied on a brand new Strike King blade yellow skirt and started to work the bank. Popped a nice smally right off the bat, maybe 2 pounds. Two casts later I locked up again. Got the fish up next to the boat and then she made a run under the trolling motor. I tried to give her some drag off the Quantum but it was too late and the 8 pound line just couldn't hold up. After that I decided to call it a day. As I packed up the wind blew me into the swim beach. Got yelled at by an old lady on a sailboard for getting into her launching zone. On the way out of there I ran over a log. After that I couldn't get the boat back up on plane. As I percolated back to the marina I thought I smelled something toxic - looked back and saw smoke coming out from under the cowling.
I talked to a couple guys at the ramp who said the caught 'em on swim jigs.

Report: First trip to the flat in many moons. Made a mistake by taking the 'long' ramp so headed to Island park and unloaded. A few guys around at 6:30AM and weather was, well sorta warm. Had shorts on.
Headed straight across the lake for the rock wall and saw two boats tossing rip baits right in the 5mph zone. Go the rock walls and not a good sight. Found my trolling motor mount busted and tail light lens pieces inside the rail. Back to the dock, trailer in, boat on, headed back to Santa Maria. Long frustrating trip. Maybe next time!

Report: Got on the water around 2 pm. Landed a small fish on a rip bait in about 7 feet. Then caught a nice 2 lb salmon on the rip. Found some bait and started drop shotting. Caught about 3 keepers and 3 more dinks in about 10-15 feet. No topwater or blade bite. Bait was scattered on the surface in windy gap. Left at 5:30 pm.
City: fresnoTips: Drop shot 4 inch worm was about the only solid bite i could find. Windy gap on up was the best areas, lots of bait up there.

Water Temp: 68.2
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Lake level is still decreasing. . A few boats out this morning in a slight wind at safe light, and sun later bringing out the shorts and T's.
Lots and lots of shorts today but very healthy fish which is a plus. Most were little footballs so feeding on the still present shad is no problem. Chatted with a old club member and he was hitting keepers in 30-35 feet with a jig. Had lots of top water fish early on until maybe a late 11AM. Found a pool of fish just to the right of the dam hitting on Watermelon Pumpkin Senkos in 4 and 5 inch hooked whacky. Some decent smallies coming in farther to the right on points with a Hula Grub on a Arky Head.
Samll fish but still a fun morning. Wind came and went all morning long and looked to be quiet when I left at noon.
City: SMTips: Hit points in deeper water. Whitenberg had it's share of hitters early on.

Both were caught on a carolina rig and a 7" plastic worm. I did have a crazy blowup on a 7" swimbait but she missed the hooks.

I went and threw by the dam with a long cast and lost one when the fish hit it.It was nice day, maybe two boats and clear skies.

Water Temp: 66.5o
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Very light traffic on the water today.. Cool morning start that included gloves for the 1st time this year. Slight wind tapering off with warm sun later.
Water is still dropping and more and more unseen structures are appearing. Water has cooled a little from a week ago and the very high presence of shad busting the top have lessened.
Hit ski cove first off with a senko whaky rigged. Pulled in a 2 pounder on third cast then nothing to chat about for at least an hour. Tried top water near the dock and scored on 6 8-11 inchers. Moved off towards Vasquez with a crank on the rock walls to the east. Pulled only a small large for my efforts. Hit the dam with a creature bait and drop shot with again, only small fish. Hit the miracle mile with the jig and whacky with a solid 3-1/2 in the boat and maybe 3-4 small fish with one at maybe 15 inch.
Called it a day at 11 with wind picking up but still a decent day.
City: SMTips: Watermelon Pumpkin seemed to be the color of choice for today
