Report: Just a fun day to fish and to try out my repairs to my equipment.

Foggy when I arrived at 6:10. But warmer signs of the sun were trying to show just after sunrise. Started off in the cove next to Whittenberg with a top water popper. Second cast and it started. Didn't make 50 yards from the point and had 8 dinks in the boat and back in the water. Moved off to some points towards Vasquez and tried some different lures and plugs trying to ssee if I could hook something better and to see if a patteren could be established. Hit 5 more dinks on a drop with 3 different color and sizes. Pretty much summed up the day. Didn't see too many with decent keepers. Wind up at about 11 and called it a good day with my reapirs working good.
      City: SM

Tips: Lake is low. Almost dry at the bridge now and backside is getting pretty shallow. Tough bite still.

Report: Been to lake kaweah 7-8 times now from late august to date, and I have had 0 luck untill today finally got an 11" bass. No scale sorry. Not able to get out on lake but pulled her
in off the rocks just past the first boat lauch. Caught on white blood trace jig off bottom about 18' out. Getting a little flusterd with the lack of catches. New to California and so far tried 5 locations and same thing no luck. Have tried top water shad jigs, crawfish, live/dead/fake minnows, live/fake worms, cranks... Ect and I'm not even getting hits. Is it just completely out of season for bass here? Or is it just because I can't get out on the lake? Never had so much trouble catching bass.

Report: Tri Valley fish off today. 24 boats making the visit to a not to pleasent of a day 4 me.

Windy - windy - windy. Pretty much summed it up for me today. Started off at a 6:42 launch and never got a tap until almost 9AM. Pulled in a total of 15 shorts drop shotting by noon with not one making the 12" scale! Finally found a point that was showing larger dots on the screen and tossed out a jig. Set trolling motor on 4 just trying to stay off the rock wall in the wind and finaly felt a tap. Yanked on it and felt what was to be a decent fish, all the time trying to manuver the boat off the rocks. Eased off the wall more and positioned the boat so I could bring it in. Got her close enough to see that I had a good 4+ on the end and 'BANG'! Turned my head long enough to see the trolling motor disappear over the side, letting my line slack and she was gone... Mount busted off clean and I ended up using my leg to shove me off the wall as the wind was really playin havoc on the boat.

Finally got in headed in the wind direction and fired off the big motor to get me away from a bad situation. Headed in as that was the end of my day. To make things worse... Cell phone went diving. Shoot!

Anyone got a used Motorguide Gator Mount they want to sell --- reasonable??? email me.

Report: SB Bass Club winner with just over 6# for 5 spots. Early morning bite with 12-14 " spots eating jigs, senkos, and worms...afternoon crank bite when wind picked up. Most fish were 12- 12 3/4"...biggest fish was 1 3/4 #. Very tough bite with drop in temperature more than 15 degrees from previous day

Tips: Rocky shorelines and main lake points were most productive. Topwater was nonexistent despite significant effort and plenty of boiling activity throughout the day.

Report: Had a Great time at lake Isabella started to throw a Lunker Plunker around the points and scored a chucky 3-4 pound bass. I later broke out a River 2 Sea S-waver and hammered a couple of bass off a point. I lost about a 8 pounder on the s-wave. I most say the crappie fishing is off the hook. I will be back as they say, want to get the one that got away. tight lines,

Report: Met the wife's San Diego family at Naci for the week of July 13-18. Her family are all skiers and boarders, so figured I would be fishing alone, not always a bad thing. Was surprised to see how low the lake was, though, and I figured it would be tough fishing. Tried plastics first evening across from the marina with no luck. Decided to head back to camp, when I spotted bass chasing shad just outside the north marina 5mph buoys. Tossed out a spook and hooked a fat 2lber and then two more about the same size. Water was glass slick and as soon as the breeze came up the bite disappeared. No luck the next morning in Tablas and the Narrows tossing plastics and topwater. That evening a friend of my brother-in-law and his wife from Arizona wanted a lesson in bass fishing (they are trout fishermen), so I took them to the marina area and tied on a couple of Pop-R's' but the wind blew and we had no luck. Next morning went out alone and found bass busting shad around the south 5mph buoys near the marina. Threw the Pop-R and hooked about ten or so. That evening hooked several more fat ones around the north 5mph buoys with the Pop-R. Next morning my new Arizona trout fishing buddy wanted another shot. We headed to the south 5 mph buoys and after about a 45 minute waiting game we got on bass busting shad on the surface. He caught on quickly and we landed about 30 or so nice fish in the next hour and a half with non-stop action. All in all a nice trip in spite of the 105 degree heat. All fish were released.
      City: Redding, Ca

Tips: Fish that were chasing shad on the surface seemed to be in the marina area. Throw a topwater lure in shad pattern right where they have just busted the surface. Don't set the hook until you no longer see your lure and feel weight on the line. They miss it frequently and if you set too soon, you often miss. If the wind comes up try something else as the water has to be like glass.

      Water Temp: 76o

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Practice day at Margi. Has been a few months since I was last here and the water has really dropped, so be alert as to some routes you normally take as now there is less than 2 feet at some areas.

A small 9-10 boat meet going on. Chatted with maybe 5 boats and at 10AM, no one had any fish. Was warm out and very little wind.

Tried all my favorite spots as well as hitting Zaca Flats with grass frogs. Not one blow-up which really laid out the rest of the day --- Nothing. Maybe two bites and that was it. Hit shallow, deep, in-between and nothing. Cranks, blades, drop, creature baits nothing seemed to hit on a bite.
      City: SM

Tips: No suggestions other than fish were being caught. No one wanted to fess up to where and what.
