Water Temp: 61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A day to practice at the Lopes -- Early start at 6AM and NO ONE was checking boats! I asked the Ranger as I was alreay tagged, but he said there would be someone at the dock. Nada! No one around at the dock launch so I hesitated a little and waited. Two other boats arrived and did the same. After about 25 minutes, we all put in the water and parked our tow rigs.
Wind came up by maybe 6:50 or 7 not real bad but as the Lopes goes, be prepared. Lots of green top layer in the back past Vasquez almost like the back end 'turned over'. Nada on anything on the screen in the back and I worked the stickups with tops and cranks and chatter jigs with no takers. Headed towards Vasquez and hit the east side of the walls with spinners, cranks, jigs, senkos and creature baits with absolutly no hits on any of my fav bait combos. Wind increasing by 8:30 and I started tossing rip baits. By 10:15, I headed back to the marina and hit the south end with still no takers or hits. Frustrated as the wind picked up and I was having fits holdibng the boat so I trailered it and headed to the decon station for a new tag.
NOTE!! No more releasing bilge water on the ramp! Read the SIGNS.
City: SMTips: Terrible day!

Report: As a part of my Dad's (Earl Dodson) 70th birthday week, we decided to get his line wet after a 10 year plus drought. And what better way to do it than with some serious BLUEGILL fishing. San V is known for it's monster bluegill and Redears and we hit it just right this time around.
We caught 30 plus during the day. Our best 17 (9 bluegill and 8 redear)tipped the scales to 17.05 lbs! My dad caught a 1.25 lb redear (best of the day!). We used medium nightcrawler pieces, meal worms, and redworms worked mainly in 10' with a split shot. Tompkin's cove and the Chimney were the most productive areas.
Just wanted to thank my Dad for a nice day of fishing with his son!! Can't wait to indulge ourselves with the first bluegill fry in years!!
Your son,
Mark

Nacimiento Lake
-
Water Temp: 63 to 66
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I just spent a week at Nacimiento. The Lake is at 39% capacity due to major work being done to the spill way. The lake is down 20 plus feet from last year. This means that the bass beds have dried up and the spots were this. We caught 75 spots and 50 big white bass. The whites were a very early bite. 0530 hours and it only lasted for about 2 hours. The big bite was in tip creek and las tables. We were using bill lewis rattle traps, and cast masters. The whites were big and none of the female had spawned due to the water level. There was no debris in the water and the rockey points were the hot spots. The County has taken over the camping area and a new corporation has taken over the trailors and store. They dont have there act together yet but give them time. This corporation should do a good job. Bobby out!
