Report: Had my best day ever. It was one of those foggy -hazy mornings. The wind was hard out of the north. It was blowing from Kernville toward the dam. That created a calm spot on the east side of Rocky Point. First cast with a 3/4oz FF Shad a 4 pounder missed it right at the boat. Then all hell broke loose. In the next 45 minutes, in a strech less than 50 yards of shore line I caught (in order) a 6.11 3.8 3.11 9.3 and a 5.0 By that time it had gotten light and they went deep. All fish were releasd. Later I ran into my buddy Mark Abler just as he was netting a beautiful 5.3 pound smallmouth. Thats got to be the lake record as one is not officially listed.
(look in photos for 'Isabella Smallmouth')
      City: Kernville

Tips: I went 4 trips without a fish, crankin my but off. Then look what happened.

We caught a few fish that went 1.5 lbs on drop shot and a bunch of other dinks. Some largies were caught, but mostly spots. Fished greasy cove for a bit and pulled a few more 1.5 ers from some stumpy banks @ 30 feet of water. Caught a few fish on jigs also.

      Water Temp: 53

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: We arrived about 8:30am went straight to windy gap and fished within 20-48 feet deep. First fish was pulled out of 30 feet 2lb spot. Second fish was a dink, third fish went 2.15lb. out of 23 feet also a spot. Then I pulled a 4 1/2lb. out of 26 feet and also a spot. We left about 02:30pm and I only boated five fish one being a dink. My partner never boated one fish.
      City: kingsburg

Tips: Fish slow and fish were holding on the trees deep. Drop shotting did the trick. We tried jigs, sinkos, split shotting, slow rolling spinner baits, and even silver buddies but no luck on these.

Report: We had our club tourney (Gilroy BassMasters)on the lake this weekend. It was a tough bite for all of us. No limits were caught and 11 of our 18 anglers blanked. The fog stuck around till around 11 which kept most of our guys off plane and fishing unfamilar water. The guys that caught 1-2 fish were dropshotting or spider grubbin. One guy caught 2 rattletrap fish up shallow.
      City: M.H.

Tips: No real patterns. Junk fishing was the norm. Try 4 inch robo's in morning dawn or aaron magic.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: First time fishing here since August since the water has been too low, now you can launch on the campground side only. Started fishing at fisrt light, partner got a small fish on a crankbait. The weather was nice not to cold and it was cloudy. I was throwing a spook, and caught 5 bass with 2 of them around 2pounds, this stopped around 8:30. My partner was getting them on the crankbait and one on a puppy, but they were all small. All these fish were shallow and around structure. We moved out deep and tried for awhile, but got nothing went back to where we were fishing and after 1:00 they started coming back all on crankbaits. The fish were coming from 1 to 10 feet but were scattered. We ended up catching 28 for the day and around 8 to 10 pounds for a five fish limit not bad and it was alot of fun being back on HENSLEY, I will be back this weekend.
      City: Coalinga

Tips: Search for fish, usually with a worm I catch quite a few fish but saturday I only got one small fish to bite. They just seem to like the hard baits that day. Just get out on the water and fish. Good luck and God Bless.

Report: Haven't fished this lake in 2 years. Started with
ripbaits near flats. Few dinks in 1-2lb range.
Headed back to lake. Flip'n and swimmin Jigs trailed with hula grubs to trees. Bam 3 blacks 4-5lbs. Backed off trees to come back later. Fished main lake points with lipless cranks. 6-7 spots within 15 minutes. Slow rolled 1 ounce spinner on bottom. Bent rod. Nice 4lb spot. Went back to trees rippn Balsa's. Fish after fish 2-4lbs. Oh yeah. Stay bent. Talked to some locals saying its a slow bite. I said its very slow. LOL. Ran into another local with a few small bass. Said he was going to make fish tacos. I told him crappie are probaly better. Lots of spots and seeing more blacks. Fish population seems to be getting better. Hopefully we can make fish tacos with crappie rather than bass.
      City: Nor Cal

Tips: ripbaits & jigs for now. Fish fast and find your pattern. Craw, shad, chartruese all good colors.
Use your graphs. Practice what you preach. Catch and Release!

Report: Went to Poway the other day and planned on trout fishing so all brought were some artificial trout lures because I dont like fishing bait. My friends convinced me to bring only one rod which was my trout micro. I really wanted to bring one of my bass setups but they convinced me not to, any way we went first thing in the morning and i caught three trout on mini jigs and roostertails. After the sun came out i went out on the fishin dock and i looked down in the water and see a teen sized bass just sitting on the bottom along with a couple other cruising two pounders. Boy was i mad i didnt bring my bass stuff. There were also a lot of bass chasing trout every where. There was one in hidden bay that cleared the water with a trout hanging in its mouth boy did i wish i had my swimbait stick with me.
      City: Vista

Tips: Never go trout fishing without a back up bass setup!!!!
