      Report: I AM CATCHING GIANT LARGEMOUTHS IN COVE CREEK ON WHITE3/4 oz. SPINNERBAITS IN THE WILLOW TREES. I ALSO SAW BIGLARGEMOUTHS CRUISING BANKS AND GOING INTO THE ROPED OFFAREA CALLED DOK CREEK. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS ROPED OFFBUT I BET THERES BIG FISH IN THERE.THE GUY IN THE STORE IN JONES VALLEY, TOLD ME TO GO TOZINC CREEK, FIRST CREEK,BAXTERS GULCH SO I DID, I CAUGHTNICE SIZE SPOTTED BASS ON MINNOWS. ALL MY BEST SPOTTEDBASS CAME FROM LAKEHEAD,SALT CREEK, SUGARLOAF CREEK,DONEYCREEK, GREGORY CREEK AND I CAUGHT MY BIGGEST SPOTTED BASSIN OBRIEN CREEK. I USED LIVE CRAWDADS.

      Report: Started early in Yorty creek. Fished breaks to 20 eet. Caught nothing. Fished misc. points to Cherry creek. On the way back we stopped at a point outside o Cherry and stuck three ish. The ish came on back to back casts in 15 to 20 eet. The irst was 3lbs. the 2nd was 4lbs. It was tough through out the day. The last ish was 1-14. All were caught on carolina rigs with brush hogs.

      Report: Got to the lake about 11a.m. and threw everything in my box or an hour or so. (waste o time) Decided to go in close and hunt or beds. Pleanty o beds but ew with ish "Locked On" Worked the biggest ones I could ind (couldn't ind the big-uns) cought 5 in the 31/2 to 5 lb. range. Averaged about 20 mins. per ish. A couple o trouters in 28 t. Runabouts decided to race in and out o all the coves about 3pm and pretty much blew the lake out or sight ishin' and my luck.

      Report: Fished the first part of March in various weather conditions and found the bite varied in location of the lake. The winds from the North were the worst in condition's. Fished mostly in the south end of the lake finding the fish on long tapered points with shale type rock. What I found was one fish per point, their where a couple that had produced two. The ones that I or a client had gotten came from 15ft or less. Water clarity this year is clearer than the norm. You had to lay off the point and make a long cast. Most of the time I placed the boat between 25 and 30ft mark. Couldn't buy a bite below 15ft. The weather outlook is the key to this lake turning wide open and it does look good. The storm's that are to arrive this coming week are from the south instead of the North. Has of Sunday March 17th the water was 52 in the afternoon and 53-54 in the back ends of the coves that ran deep. 55 degrees was the warmiest in Skiier's Cove. Sunday, March 17th I guided Mike Buglirrello from Orangevale. It was is lucky day has he boated a 10+ largemouth in Wragg's Canyon. It came on a Bait By Boyce 1/2 Brown football jig in about 14ft of water (point). Most of the days that I had caught fish all (Most) came on Jigs laced with a Snoozer's frog trailer in Roadkill. I couldn't get any Rip fish to go, but other fisherman that I had seen or talked too had caught them in the Mid day period on. Im looking for this pattern to turn wide open. Picture's of Mike's fish will be posted has soon has I can get them. I'll be going back up soon and many times within the next 4 weeks.

      Tips: In the next couple of weeks until the lake stables out look for long rocky points and move to the next one after 6-10 cast. The fish will hit right away if there up. With the water has clear has it is this year, try throwing a spook at the ends of the coves or on the secondary points has you approach them.

      Report: One Person Guide Trip. 12 ish average 2lbs with one ive pounder tough day. Fished rom Franks tract to Union Point. Most ish came o points with current and deep water close by. Tide didn't seem to be a big actor. Hit about every good spot and point I know and just ound a ish here and there. The ish we ound were in about 3-5 t o water and we caught them on tubes, jigs, speed traps and the Blk/Blk Persuader Spinner Bait.

      Report: Fished the south hard. Nice day, but tough ishing starting out. Hit all the normal Redbud areas and into Cache a little and all the spots on the way to Konocti. Tried everything and couldn't get bit. Headed all the way North at noon and started to ind stained water and 53+ temp(p.m.) and FISH biting in Lakeport area. Caught two nice keepers (3-4 pounds)slow cranking a speedtrap. Caught a toad 7-8 dragging a Senko and another good one on a swimbait that was about 5. I know.....only 4 ish, but all in the space o about a hour and in one spot! Ater all morning South doing the same things without a bite, I was jazzed. I just ran out o time or I would have caught more I know.

      Report: up at 1130 tryed greasy cove irst not even a nibble with the senko, lizards, worms, and jerk baits at various depths. about 1230 moved to the irst point just outside greasy and nothing on all the previous baits except i threw a couple cranks as well. moved to the damn tryed all and threw a jig and still nothing. moved to the point directly across rom the irst marina. nothing there. so i am thinking these ish are all screwed up do to the riseing water. inally at 408 pm i got my irst hit. a 2 and a hal. on a lizard. and then at 415 got my second on a lizard again, a clone o the irst. then another clone on a senko. all keepers within 20 minutes. damn i had to be in visalia by 500 to pick up my kids.

      Report: Launched today at jones valley and went up the pit, tryed cranking, and spinerbaits on points and nothing. Went back to throwing jigs which have been working well.

      Report: The water has warmed enough to start the smash mouth action.Caught 7 smallies and one large mouth rom 2-4 lbs on a darter then went Crankin. Wow, I'd almost orgotten how much un that can be. Fish were hitting a crawdad Frenzy but the way they were hitting I guess about anything would have worked. The only thing was you had to have it banging on the rocks.

      Tips: Here's a tip or a plug knocker. I wind mine on an old loat marker bouy. When you get hung up hook the knocker over the line and toss it and the bouy over board. 90% o the time i you keep your line tight it will knock it loose irst try. Keeps the rope organized and your hands ree.

      Report: The bass are still near their nesting beds at this lake, but are now getting tougher to catch. A ew things are starting to change now. Some ish are now done spawning and are starting to move out, then the water has dropped a good 10 to 15 t. since a week ago which really makes the ish spooky when ished or, and let's ace it, most o the ish have been ished over or a couple o months now and are just not going to be ooled that easy! We did see a good number o double digit bass swimming around but when we pulled up, they (most o the time) headed or deeper water.

      Tips: There are several ways to succeed at this lake, live crawdads, drop shotting, sometimes hard baits, plastics on "brass and glass", big trout lures, etc. However a lot o people like to sight ish or bass here especially in spring. I have to admit this is not my personal avorite but it DOES work when the ish are holdind on a bed and won't tolerate anything coming into their bed area. With the ino mentioned above it's getting tougher to catch a ew. Three o us only scored two ish 2.5 and 4 lbs or 5 hours ishing. Egh! Tough! Also I should mention that right now the park is in the middle a remodle o the parking/boat ramp area and it's a mess! You'll have to drive over dirt right now to launch your boat. According to someone I talked to in the snack bar this will be going on or the next three weeks. Good luck!

      Report: I started out about 7am hoping to ind some good spawning ish. I guess they were eected by that weather we just had because there was nothing. I decided at about 9am to ish a little deeper 10' seemed to be the trick caught two good ish in vasquez arm a 7 and a 5 pounder. I caught both on a 6" blue& black zipper worm texas rigged. The bite seemed to die o about aternoon and then It got windy.

      Tips: I think i the weather stays warm the big ish will start to get on the beds real soon. I seem to be really succesul with zipper worms & big bs worms lipped on beds in junebug or chartruese / white spinnerbaits. good luck!
