Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Caught the "trifecta" of bass (largemouth, smallmouth, spotted bass) from the bank on Monday. First fish came on a spook around 5:40am in Markley Cove. Many hours later and no success around Oak Shores, I finally caught my other 3 bass under the Putah Creek bridge. Only one was caught in the sun. I got many more bites and landed two fish in the shade of the bridge. All my afternoon fish were caught on crawdad imitating plastics drug slowly along the bottom.
City: FolsomTips: Find the shade, especially with deep water or cooler current nearby and you will find more active fish. That's all I could figure out.

Tenmile Lake
-
Water Temp: niiiice
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Finally had a chance to sit down and catch up on my logbooks. Other than 2 trips to Tenmile Lake all these bass came from Cottage Grove. So far this year I've got 36 bass for 116 pounds and 13 ounces. It's about a 3 pound,4 oz. average. I'm pretty sure the biggest was a 4.12 and I think the smallest was just under 2 pounds. Lots of them were in the 2.12 to 3.6 range and while most came on a jig and beaver combo some were fooled by the 5" trout swimbait. Even got a few on crankbaits, senkos and spinnerbaits! I looked and last year I only had 80.7 in 26 fish by August 18th. Maybe I'll actually be able to get to last years prediction of 150 pounds by the end of the season! So far the weather looks great for August- overcast mornings are prime for the jig bite. I've just got to be sure and get the boat out often and get my kids up early and to the lake so they can get in on the bite. I love the photos of my boy with his first bass ever from last September. Now we need to get his sister and him their first 3 plus pound bass. Just hope I can get them to lip them for a quick photo. More reports to come soon so stay tuned!!
City: yoncallaTips: I'd say tie on a jig and beaver, a med. sized swimbait and a crankbait and head for the lake. I kinda like weed edges and creek channels and when you find them both together you're probably gonna catch a few nice bass. A hard or rocky spot that's on a weedy channel drop can be consistant all summer long. I've only found a few spots so far like that. Be safe and have fun.

Water Temp: na
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: went to calero on sunday the 1st and monday and tuesday the 3rd. walked the shore each day. had three blowups on my buzzbait. missed two cause i got too excited. the third came off right at the shore. my drag wasnt set so i didnt get a good hookset.. rookie mistake.looked like a 2.5-3 lber. went back the next day(monday) to reedeem myself. caught three fish and missed two blowups where the fish really didnt commit. caught two on a buzzbait(1.5 & 2.5).and caught a 3.2 lber on a super spook jr. i saw some fish chasing bait on the surface threw the spook out, twitched it twice and bam a fish hit it but jumped over my bait twitched it acouple more times and he came back and gobbled it. when i got him close i noticed there was three other fish swimmimg alongside of him all about the same size. came back the next day on tuesday and caught two. one on the spook again and one on the buzzbait. got there around eight and left by noon each day. every morning it was foggy until 930-10..but the funny thing is i never got a bite until that sun popped out thru the fog.
City: santa claraTips: throw buzzbaits right along the weed patches scattered along shore.

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Got out early sat morning. I threw a black buzzbait and my partner threw a baby bass spook. Partner caught a few up to 2 1/2 lbs while the buzzbait didn't produce. Topwater bite died so we went straight to punching mats. Fish were biting but not near as aggressively as last week. Did not get the numbers or quality as last week but we were definitely still catching them. Missed a lot of fish because they weren't very aggressive... and also broke one of on 65 lb braid...
City: ModestoTips: Throw a spook or similar lure in the mornings and punch mats when the sun gets higher. When punching let your bait hop a few more times and work it a little slower than you're used to. Pay attention cuz they aren't slamming it like they were a week ago. Also check your line even when fishing braid cuz its very strong but not very abrasion resistant. It will break your heart real quick.

We moved in behind all of the anchored boats and caught one more on a senko before I had my frog blown sky high with a spectacular miss. Off the water at 3:00

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 81-84
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Mike Sperbeck and I fished the lake Thurs late afternoon and up to midnight. The previous algae bloom was gone and the water was pretty clear. bite was real slow in the evening as the delta breeze was very strong and cool. That killed any topwater bite. Mike caught a few 1 to 2 lbers and I had a good moment as I hooked a 4 to 5 pounder on a Power worm but lost her when she jumped. When the moon came up about 10:30 the bite was fair and we caught several up to 2 1/2 lbs. The bite died shortly after. I was using the 10" Power worm all the time - hoping for the big bite. Mike was using a small beaver and was catching the most. I think we boated 11 bass and missed a bunch.
City: Yuba CityTips: Bass and bait are still in the top 30-35 feet of water. Lake level is holding very well - only down a few feet. The might have dumped in some water from Pardee - I don't know. Weeds are not real bad except in very shallow water.

Clear Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the Konocti area, water is pretty nasty, but fishing was good. I only had a few hours to fish but had 3 big blow ups on a tournament frog... but couldn't hook up. Downsized to a swamp frog and bingo. Almost every dock or cove with weeds had fish blowing up. Fish were up to 4 pounds.
City: K-villeTips: Top water was the ticket. Water is so thick with weeds could really only throw a frog. You boat guys probably want to flush out your rigs when you're done!
