Report: Tons of fish sunday... the fish are really on shad. Any shad imitation bait is getting bit. Majority of fish are in the 2-3lb range. Had two fish over 5 eat the spoon in 30ft of water. I found a good bait ball with solid marks and went to town.

      Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Non-fish report...Bidwell is the only option for launching now- and it's not much. Down to one muddy lane and a single dock. By 10:00AM there was no parking left in the lower dusty areas and it's a good hoof to the upper parking. Expect at least a 1hr weekend que in the afternoon to leave. Couple of guys on Friday threw punches when the other cut in line.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Avoid Oroville on the weekends.

      Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Arriving at around 11am, we start out by bouncing around the main body fishing points with rock and wood. After fishing the first few spots with only a couple short strikes, Perry Jr. catches a small mouth and a 2.5 pound largemouth on a drop shot. I then miss a nice 5 or 6 pounder on a top water Vixen. The big fish was sitting in a tree positioned on the tip of a main lake point. I find another similar looking area, and catch a 5.9 on a Lunker Punker. We try fishing a few more spots, but come up empty handed. I think with the full moon, the majority of the bass are feeding at night and early in the morning. In the middle of the day the fish seem to be out in the middle chasing bait.

      Water Temp: 70 somethin'

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Had another slow week at Cottage Grove. I fished the 6th, 8th and 9th mostly along the west shore. I only got one bite the 6th and 8th but on Saturday the 9th I got a 16"- 2.7. I tossed it back and on the next cast I got another good bite, set hard and watched my line shoot for the surface. This fish felt and looked a bit better- maybe 3.2- 3.5. It jumped like it thought it was at the bass olympics. It easily cleared 2 feet! And it also shook my jig out and sent it skipping across the water back to within 10' of where I was standing. That's fishin' baby- can't land every single one. And besides I did get an entertaining 7 or 8 seconds. I also got a great sunrise photo on Wed.- the bats were still out when I got there and the sky was fantastic.
      City: yoncalla, oregon

Tips: The water has dropped about 1.5' to 2 ' in the last couple weeks. I believe they'll keep dropping it- maybe even faster so.....get that boat out there and have a great day on the lake. Try to take advantage of the strong, hard biting bass in this lake. And ask someone you've never fished with to go with you- they may get hooked for life- a 5 pounder leaves a pretty lasting impression! See ya out there. >]]]]](*>

      Water Temp: 79-81

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Started with the intention of flipping wacky in discovery bay, but then something amazing happenned! We started to see swarms of striped bass busting on shad everywhere. They were litterally throwing themselves up against docked boats! Gulls were getting in on the action as well, divebombing the shad and getting a bite every dive! You would see the minnows jump then you'd see the bass right afterwards! So we picked up our shallow divers and cast into the swarms with nearly each cast catching a fish. None were keeper size, but it was alot of fun for about 3 hours. Fish after fish, the largest went for 15 inches. Saw larger fish jumping but didn't catch those ones, maybe the small ones took it before the big ones could get ahold of it? Anyhow it was alot of fun. After the bite turned off we went for the tules past discovery bay pulling texas brush-hawgs and flipping wacky both in just one color...watermelon seed. Works every time. All three of us caught limits of largemouth with the largest going for 2.5 lbs. Finally got to that island past the bridge (Golden Gate Ski Club?) late and hammered a few in the shade.
      City: Hayward

Tips: The only bad thing about launching at Disco Bay is the hours. Would have liked to get a little full moon bite, but hours there are from 8am-9pm.
Does anybody out there know where another ramp is that would be fairly close to the Disco Bay marina???

      Water Temp: 70-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the water approx. 6 a.m. overcast/heavy fog. Headed to small islands near dam fishing points and shoreline with Green/Purple Senko rigged with jighead.Water was very stained from algae and also very calm. Threw at some stickups about 5-15 ft and got bit jigging the Senko.Caught a 7 pound LMB.Fished along more shoreline and different areas with nothing. Weather cleared and got hot! Bite died down.
      City: Oxnard

Tips: This experience showed me you can catch them in the summer! And BIG ones too! Early in the morning and probably late afternoon.Early morning with dark baits due to stained water and fog.I'll admit, the stealthy approach worked for me.It was very quiet out there.Hope this helps !

Report: 1 bite, 1 fish for 2 hrs fishing. Bass went 9 lbs 3 ozs. Thanks to "slim" for use of digital scale. Fish hammered my frog. Won't disclose location, but don't limit yourself to just throwin' to mats. Hey Kyle...come by and leave me your cell # and I will send you that photo of your monster fish.
      City: Antioch

Tips: Walk your frog in open water...this is definately an untapped technique. Must say that I have fished every frog on the market and Bobby Barrack has the best frog out there for walkin'. It's truly "perfect".

Report: A few boats fished this 5 mph lake with the wind @ 5-10 mph. Hard to find a top water bite. Did some crankin, spinner in the wind on the points on the North Fork. Found bass chasing the bait but no takers. After the wind died down a drop shot, jig in brown/purple and a darter head with a Pearl or salt/pepper grub (single or double tail). By the time the morning was over we hard 20 plus bites and 10 fish to the boat, bigest was 2.5 lbs

      Water Temp: 83

Report: I went out night fishing twice this week with two different buds, and both times the fishing didn't get "great" until well after dark.
Both nights the fish had no desire for plastics.
Both buds caught a few on big worms, and I even got a couple on brush hogs, but the chatterbait outfished the plastics by a large margin.
I found that if you throw a dark one tight to shore, and then rip it about 3 turns of the handle then let it fall... the bass will pick it up. Still no topwater action for me. I threw a buzzbait till the hook rusted off.
I also tried a spook, and a frog. Not even a follower. Maybe a week of cold nights will turn the lake on.
Its just too hot right now.
      City: auburn

Tips: Last night we caught about 20, with one close to 6 lb. It was a full moon, and we caught most in the darkest places we could find.

Report: I had the pleasure of fishing the August tournament with the Modesto Castmaster. We started at 4pm and finished at midnight. I had not fished this lake in 5 years and first time as the boater. The bite was great if you like catching 3 to 6" fish. The club member that I fished with, Matt, caught our two keepers. One was just under 14" and the other was 14-1/2". The best fish of the tournament was over 4#, caught by the winning team.
If you are thinking of joining a club, and live near Modesto, this is an excellent group of guys.

Report: 30+ bass day! unfortunately, not one of them was over 8 inches long LOL we fished just 20 feet south of the closed boat ramp and were actually going for bluegills but the baby bass wouldn't leave us alone...in fact, we only caught one bluegill the entire time. we fished 1/8 oz. jigs tipped with a piece of nightcrawler. just when i was starting to think there weren't any bigger fish in this lake, a 3 pounder slowly swims by within 2 feet of the shoreline. i quickly throw out a larger plastic grub but couldn't entice it to bite. i tried casting for larger bass but gave up because of the extreme weeds.

      Water Temp: 76+

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Rolled out first thing in the morning. The lake continues to drop but still able to launch without any issues. Caught over 6 fish but all dinks!!! Nothing legal, but like that matters at this lake!!! I can't believe the people that come to this lake a rob all the small fish. This entire family came to the lake and like a pack of wolves must have caught at least 35 less that 6 inch bass and kept them all!!!! I complained to the rangers and they said there is nothing they can do. I suggested that they inspect people as they leave. He suggested that I contact the DFG which I did and they told me that they would send out an agent to investigate. I don't know why people have to kill off a lake like this. Good thing is that this lake had a great spawn. I see nothing but tons of fry around, so hopefully the lake will survive.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Crankbaits have always been my best friend at this lake but senko work sometimes. I've never had any luck with a topwater bite.

Get there early and report anyone keeping small fish. I wish we could go back to the old days when you could carry a gun!!!!

      Water Temp: 81F

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 7pm until about 8am with the full moon. Didn't have luck with the topwater bite I've heard about at dusk and dawn. There was considerable surface activity between dawn and 07:30 about 200' away from the bank. Appeared to be bass chasing shad. Caught bass from 11pm until 7am at a rate of 1 per hour. No consistent patterns except the bass were caught mostly at 16'. Caught bass on dropshot, splitshot, B&G beavers and brush hogs, and 3/4 oz blades. Nothing on large worms or jigs this time. Fished in the shadow of the moon for the most part. The lake is about 35

Tips: With the hot day time temps, use sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Even at midnight, the air was still above 80F. Stay hydrated.
It started getting hot again at 7am.

Tips: Get out during the week. The weekend crowd isn't worth the trouble. There are a lot of big boats and most of them don't seem to care if they hammer you with a wave!!

Report: Waking up at 5:30, I jump out of my tent and climb in my boat. The boat in campsites at the back of Warm Springs are quite nice. I highly recommend checking it out. With the sun still below the horizon, I start covering water with a Lunker Punker. About 15 minutes into the morning, I get crushed by a 6.4 pounder. I then caught a few more fish on the vixen. At around 7am the fish made a big move from the banks to the open water. I would see the bass busting bait on the surface. Whenever this happened I put my trolling motor on high, and would fire out either a popper or a vixen. In the next hour I caught 5 more up to 3 pounds, all suspended fish that were chasing bait. At around 10 am the bite shut off. I picked up my friends at camp and we headed out to the main body. After catching only a few small fish on jigs and worms in 25 feet, we call it a day at around 3pm.

      Water Temp: 78-83

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I was happy to be able to take my good friend Willie Page to Clear Lake Monday evening. This was his first trip there since he moved to Mississippi about 5 years ago where he works with the Navigators Christian Ministry. Willie went nuts after dark, catching bass after bass. Welcome home, Willie!! After catching the first 8, I told him that we needed to see a "real" California bass! Soon a big catfish nailed my 10" black Power worm - or so I thought! With 30 lb test Fireline I couldn't stop her - she went into a piling but soon came out. She was going to jump so I thought that would be fine. She did and - whoa - NO whiskers! I never had time to get nervous and he netted her on the first swipe and I didn't have the giant net! I really wish he could have caught her - I even gave him the shadow section of the dock and I cast to the moonlit area. We both wondered what a 9 lb 14 oz bass was doing in 4 feet of clear water in bright moonlight. Feeding for sure - she almost swallowed the giant worm and I set the hook quickly. She had the body of a late November bass - big gut. I told Willie earlier that the bite is always on by 11 pm - she hit at 11:02 pm!!!! Willie wound up with 11 bass to 4 lb 3 oz and I finished with 2 - only had 5 bites the whole trip. I was glad Willie saw a monster bass so he would move back to California! 22 3/4 lb limits are hard to come by in 'ol Miss! We'll see! Tues night I guided a nice fellow from Marysville who wanted to learn about night fishing Clear Lake. He was a good fisherman but lost the first 3 he hooked (about 7pm) including a good one. That seemed to be the story of the bite Tues evening - bass that didn't want to commit to eating the bait. We landed 14 bass but really missed or lost a bunch. Shadows were again where we found most of our fish. Since I was teaching him about night structure, we covered a lot of water south of the narrows. He caught 9 of our 14 and the biggest which was only 4 lbs. He was sold on the jig bite and he was right - that was the best bait by far! We used three color combo with black/blue being the best. Most of our bass were caught from 7 to 20 feet - on rock! No topwater/buzzbait fish at all.
      City: Yuba city

Tips: The clear water is really an issue this year during moonlit nights and bass are probably more wary. I think they are harder to locate as they have tons of weeds to hide in and don't need to use the typical shady area to hide and feed. If one can find a solid weed EDGE, that is now structure. I feel right at home now as the carp have recovered from their spawn and are rolling themselves silly in the moonlight. If the shad are scarce, the Mississippi Silversides are not - they have reappeared - by the millions?! To bad they don't get as big as shad. With the absence of shad, I would assume crawfish would be on the menu, so dust off those jigs!

      Water Temp: 79 ish

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I took my 5 year old out on a very hot, still, sunny afternoon. Went
looking for some underwater structure, but there was no bait and no fish on it. Finally got bit on the launch ramp road by the dam. Several 13" fish for the skillet and then no more bites. Fished the riprap on the dam and had several bites and managed a 12" fish there. My daughter caught a nice bluegill on the dam which helped keep her interest up. The evening topwater sucked as I only caught a couple. Smaller fish were eating bait, but the larger fish were not playing on this night.
      City: Yuba city

      Tips: Just dropshotting in 23'.
