Report: On Thursday afternoon I took out a father and his two sons. Since the large amount of water craft on the lake and the wind we headed up the North Fork. On one of the coves with a shade line they started catching bass with a drop shot system. We then went futher up the North Fork to fish the rocky walls. Throwing tubes and drop shot they all caught bass. As the evening came we used top water pop-r's. Several blow-ups and two nice bass were caught. 20+ with 4 over, the biggest was 17+
      City: Paradise

Tips: Shade lines were key. Bass were about 25-30ft deep. Drop shot colors,AYU and Aarons majic, tube colors, clear sparkle and motor oil. Top water shad color pop-r's

Report: Went out at 3:00PM, fished Cottonwood first and caught 4 fish in the 2.0 - 2.5 range within 15 minutes. Moved to Tempernace and caught several more in the same range. Moved to McClure Point and the action was the same. Fished from 3:00 - Dark, caught 20 plus fish, most in the 2 pound range. All fish were very active and hit reaction baits, crankbait, spinners, fast moving jigs (Brown & Black with red in the tail) etc... Many followed the spinners up to the boat.

Tips: Blades at in the evening are hot, work the mud lines and rocky points, it was windy but good.

Report: we put in late at orwood, started fishing right away at discovery bay around the corner and pulled a few decent sized fish off of senkos and spinnerbaits. the wind was brutal let alone the other boats coming and going every couple minutes, but we managed to withstand it for a couple more fish. we tried froggin around bacon island and franks tract, but only one blow-up, nothing else. they didnt quite seem to want frogs yet. chartreuse senkos seemed to produce most of the fish along with a white spinnerbait. we spent the night at our 'secret spot' fishing for catfish throughout the night with clams and jumbo minnows. we caught at least 50 1-2lb catfish along with a 10lb bullhead at 430am. we also caught a 3lb bass earlier on a minnow as well. the morning bite produced some fish with a buzzbait and superspook, then by the time the tide brought the fish out of the tules we went back to senkos. i threw on a luckycraft chrome blue rattler and got a fish on the first cast. eventually the wind stopped us and we had not choice but to call it a trip. the bass weren't as big as i was hoping, but it was still good overall.
      City: Placerville

Tips: Chartreuse senkos, chartreuse/white spinnerbaits, spooks, buzzbaits and brush hogs all worked well.
The conditions aren't on the fisherman's side yet, but it should get a lot better within the next couple weeks. Try a spot you like and don't give up until your 100% sure.

Report: Tried to fish an evening bite with my buddy "Mateo" Mallory and started around 5pm on Tuesday. The recreational usage of this lake on a weeknight is unbelievable. Tons of wakeboarders and sea doo's with no boating etiquette whatsoever coming within 50-75 feet of us trying to bass fish near the shore. If you are one of those guys reading this, go F yourself!

Anyways, we fished many spots including the dam and a few coves with no luck. Tries brushogs, senko's, cranks, etc.... Nada for three hours.
until we pulled in a cove just north of granite bay launch ramp near another small launch ramp on the opposit side of the lake heading up north fork with a tiny dock. Mateo hooked a small one (1 pound-ish) and lost it at the boat on a chartruse (sp?) spinnerbait. Then, the whopper of the lake came out to bite. I hooked into this beautiful small mouth on a pink/black mini-spinnerbait. Size/length= 3oz and about 6-7 inches in length. Probably born three months ago. Two casts later, hooked a kamikazee bluegil on the same spinner bait near the little launch ramp. This guy was no bigger than the actual bait I was throwing.

All in all, this lake sucks for fishing. If it wasn't so convienent and around the corner, I'd never fish it again. But..... I am sure we'll be back on the water next week just to practice technique.

Report: Started fishing there again quite frequently for the elusive Lake Merced LMB. Been out on my folding boat on the north and impound lakes (with sonar/fish finder)and fished the north and south lake piers, morning to late evening til after sundown a few times. Impound lake looks like it should be primo LMB habitat. Saw a lot of large carp and a few gold fish there. Tried spinners, swim baits, cranks - diving/surface, worms, jigs, but nada, zip, nothing.

      Water Temp: 73-75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished middle fork. Stayed in the shade as best I could and fished the flat walls or big boulders. Fishing was tough with the hot temps. Didn't try topwater. Caught some senko fish but dartheads were the ticket. I kept the boat in 40-50 feet of water and caught fish in 15-25 feet. I would go 1 hour without a bite and then 6 fish in 10 casts. That was consistent all day. A lot of smaller bass were attacking my bait. Boated 25+ fish. Best 5 went 8-9 lbs.

Tips: Dartheads were the ticket, color didn't matter. Not much action split shotting or with senkos. If you take a kid fishing, get some live minnows with a smaller hook and let them catch those smaller fish all day.

Report: Fished this weekend on south end of lake. Cold front screwed it up a little, but did manage to find a pretty decent bite on some of the rock piles. Highlight of the trip was a 4+ smallie on a green hula grub in about 10' of water. When it was a few feet from the boat, saw a giant sm trying to take the bait from it, easily a few lbs bigger.

Tips: Best bite was in the middle of the day fishing jigs and hula grubs off the rockpiles in the mudline when the skiers had really churned up the water. Tight Lines.

Report: On Friday afternoon I took Peter and his three sons, Andrew (age 11), Stephen and Thomas (ages 7) no you are not seeing double they are twins to teach them how to catch fish. Peter told me they had been out numerous times but had never caught any fish. They had been out this morning for a few hours with no luck at all. Andrew was able to cast and retrieve which helped quite a bit. I teach most kids how to cast from the dock before we go out. Each child brought in his own fish when we went to my favorite cove. It took a little while for them to figure out what was a fish and what was grass but they got the hang of it. It turned out to be a very successful day as you can see by the photo. These boys will definitely turn out to be fishermen. Saturday I took Bob (#1 salesman for River2Sea) out for the day. We tested alot of River2Sea new products and they were all successful. We started out by the Ranch house and worked our way back to my favorite cove landing fish. When we got back to the dock, I had him bring in a couple of carp on very light tackle and he had a blast. We stayed out till dark and caught some bass in rocky areas that were feeding on crawdads. Sunday I fished by myself in my favorite cove. Top water didn't work for me, crawdads did ok but brass and glass with a 4/0 wide gap red hook with 6# Pline and a rootbeer senko was the secret weapon of the day. All and all it was a great fishing weekend. 'til next week.......................good fishing!!!!!!
