Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Last Sunday at Berryessa the lake was like being on the ocean. Lots of wind and
    whitecaps. Coming from
Steele Park the only place I could go was Capell Cove. Once I passed the five
    mile an hour zone the
mountains protected me from the wind. I went all the way to the end at 1.9 feet
    of water and fished all
the way back. For those who have never been in Capell Cove, there are alot of
    trees, bushes and rocks in
the water. This structure is great for bass better in the spring but I didn't
do that badly now. I caught five
large mouth bass the biggest one was 2.7 pounds. Three small mouth bass largest
    one 1.8 pounds and a
few spotted. The water temperature was between 49 to 50 degrees. Not a bad day
    of fishing considering
the elements. Dino at Spanish Flat informed me that this weekend the fishing
    was fair. People were
catching bass in seven to forty feet of water and trollers for trout were
trolling in the upper ten feet of
the water with needle fish and castmasters behind flashers. If you are
interested in a daily fishing report
I would call Dino or Mike at Spanish Flat the number there is 707-966-7708.
    February 14th - 18th I will be
at the fishing show at the Cow Palace hope to see you there. The pictures with
this email are to show you
the baits and scents that I like to use. 'til next
    week................................good fishing!!!!!!

    Water Temp: 49

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Sat shower forecast did not deter me nor the other folks who went fishing out of the cappell's.Mother nature was very cooperative as most of the day was mild.Fished the westside from spanish flat to the ranger station and totaled 10 fish up to 2#. All on plastics; some shallow(8-15) and some deep.(30-40) I don't think color is as important as keeping the bait on the bottom. haven't had any luck with reaction baits.
    City: orinda

Tips: i usually average about 10-15 bites per trip. If your'e doing worse, my tips are: 1)fish 8-20 ft depths with rock. or 2) fish 30-40' making sure your bait is on the bottom. 3)colors: morining dawn, aaron's magic, crawdad shades. good news: when a fish decides to bite, no rush they will hang on to it...

Report: Fishing at Berryessa continues to be one of the best winter bites around. Good numbers and good quality are available fishing points. Worms and jigs fished slowly are getting some nice fish...no reaction bite for me but that's ok. Natural colors are working great.

Report: Beautiful day on the water. No wind, a little cold in the am but very warm after sun came up. Caught 10 fish mix bag. Mostly on drop shot, 2 on a jig brown and purple, 2 on a crankbait (LV500) and one on a Carolina rig with a lime green lizard. Like Mark said we caught our fish between 30 and 45 feet of water in the am and caught fish later between 25 and 8 feet of water as water warmed up. Clear worms on the drop shot with 1/2 oz sinker. Good luck out there.

Tips: Move around when you mark 4 or more fish drop down on top of them and you should get a bite within 5 mins. If not move.

Tips: We didn't fish very slowly and every new spot if there were fish they bit right away. The better bite was in the main lake on the east shoreline.

Report: Launched at 8:30 and the wind was blowing a steady 20+ al ready which took out the main lake stuff. Fished some off shore structure protected areas and managed 4 fish 2 spots, 1 smallie and Lm. About noon we braved the big water and headed near the dam and found the bite much better we landed about 10 more mostly 2-lbers. Half of the fish were on a pumpkin jig and the others were spilt shotting a pumpkin snipe.

    Water Temp: 47-49

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Devil Mt. Bassmasters held our first club tournament of the year at Berryessa on Saturday launching 6 boats. The day started cold and clear, luckily not as cold as the prior week. As a club we managed to bring in limits for every boat but the bite had definitely gotten tougher than the preceding week. Winning limit was 9.5 lbs with 9.05 taking second. All limits were grouped pretty tightly around the 8-9 lb area. Big fish was 2.6 lbs. with several guys bringing in fish in the 2.5 lb range. Fish were reported in water shallow as 15ft and the winners were fishing 20-40 ft using drop shot rigs. Dragging and hula grub accounts for a couple of limits as well.
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: We found our fish in main lake points in deeper water. Fish seemed to move deeper as the day progressed. Move your bait as slow as you can then slow it down even more. Water is stained and the darker colors seemed to work better. Watch out for the wind which can kick up in the afternoon and make for a bouncy ride back to the ramp!

Report: Started out 8:00 A.M. stayed south end of lake wind blowing all day. Only managed A 7lbs limit. A lot of smoke was coming over the hill from the main body of the lake area so I left early.Didn't want to get stuck in the fire. Does anyone know how bad or exactly where the fire was?

    Water Temp: 49-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A tough day after the front went through, winds about 15-20 made it tough to fish the main lake. We managed about 8-10 fish one on a brn/brn jig a couple drop shot, a couple split shot and a few on a huddle bug. Fish were 20-30ft deep green and browns were the colors we had success with. Most all of the fish came from off shore structure and didn't seem to matter what end of the lake. Some in the narrows a few in the main lake and a couple in a cove. Biggest fish was 2.25lbs
    City: Martinez

Tips: The fish were finicky today we got quite a few short bites they would pick it up and spit it out seemed typical for post frontal fish, the bite should pick up the next few days.

I tested some Gamma fluorocarbon line today; it was awesome great knot and tension strength

    City: San Jose

Tips: Fish 35-50 feet on steep rocky banks and once you hook the fish don't bring them up fast because they will die or bring a needle and deflate them.
Eat at Steele Park Restaurant, nice people and good food, a little spendy but worth it. God Bless and come on spring!!

    Report: Fishing with Sid

It was a beautiful day on Saturday but quite cold on the water and colder still
    when the sun
started going down. My wife and I headed out early afternoon and decided to try
    fishing a
rocky slope about a half a mile long. I threw top water at least forty times
    with no reaction.
I changed to brass and glass with a watermelon senco and my wife used the same
    set-up
but with a pumpkin senco. She caught more fish then I did and we both lost a
    lot of soft
bites. I observed a gentleman and his two kids fishing a split-shot with live
    mini worms. They
were fishing in the marina dragging the worm over the bottom and hooking some
    bass and
even some trout. Next time I will get their names and a picture for the
    newspaper. Sunday
I went out for a few hours by myself to the same spot as the day before. Again
    no top water
action but I did very well with the brass and glass. The bass I was catching
    were all in the
fourteen to sixteen inch range in approximately four to twenty feet of water.
    It seems they
are going for the slow retrieve right now. But as all fishermen know that can
    change at any
time. The water temperature is about fifty-one degrees. A lot of trout are
    visible on the top
three to four feet of water chasing shad in the early morning. They will go for
    a rattle trap or
crankbait that resembles shad. If you are fishing from the shore, hook a minnow
    behind the
dorsel fin about three feet under the bobber. For those who want to see a new
    site ask for
Mike or Dino at Spanish Flats and let them show you the size of the otters that
    are in the
water by their marina. I thought they were seals. 'til next
    week.............good fishing!!!

Just too windy to fish the main part of the lake. Fished mostly darterheads & Robo worms. Brown and red seemed to work the best. Caught 6 fish between us 4 were 2.5 + (nice fish) 2 were just keepers.

Report: launched around 6:00 am and mainly fished the narrows. I threw a 3/8 oz jig and my partner threw a darter head. I caught 4 fish between 1 and 2.5 lbs on the jig before the sun came up, then the jig bite quit and I swithed to the darter head. Biggest fish( approx. 2.5 lbs.) was caught on the jig. Early in the morning the fish were caught fairly close to the bank. When the sun came up we caught fish about 15 to 20 feet deep on the darter head.

Tips: The better darter head fish were caught on 7 inch worms fished slow and all were pressure bites.
