Water Temp: 62-66
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Had one client today and one awsome time on the water. I headed North this morning in helping define patterns and how the fish relate to certain banks this time of year. I showed in how to meter breaks and in how important it is NOT to overlook them, creek channels even if their small.
We found the fish in 2ft to 5ft on the eastside. We caught 20 fish, with 15 keepers to 2+ lbs. Mixed bag of Smallies and Largemouth, few small spots. We caught them with senkos. Slow slow slow. After I explained, where the fish migrate from, we headed to the center of the Westside, rockpiles, we caught them there too but a tad deeper, mixed bag here too of smallies and largemouth, 1 spot. Caught them with a tip-up jig head using the new Roboworm Sour puss. From here I head to the south side of big island and found largemouth shallow, we caught approximately 10 more 5-7ft related to clumps of grass. Biggiest about 2 1/2lbs. I showed him a long extended point and in how to fish it with swimbaits. Low and behold I hook a 8+, she does a missile shot and comes flying out of the water with the swimbait in her mouth and spits it out at me. She wasn't very nice, most of been the wrong flavor. She caught me with my rod tip to high and I couldn't swing on her. Accomplishment: I made a believer with the client about swimbaits on Berryessa and in the approach to points. We ended the day laugh'in about that fish. She Won that one. Rich Thiel GS (707)374-1446

Water Temp: 57 to 60 depend
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: These past few warm days have started to turn the bass on. I started out in markely cove for a couple 1 1/2 to 2 lb fish on a popper. From 7 AM until noon, we took 22 fish between 1 1/2 to 2 3/4 lbs on cranks and dragging brushogs around big island. From noon until 2 PM, when we stopped, we only caught one squeeker and one about a pound in the narrows. It looks like the fishing will only get better and get back to those 30 & 40 fish days in the spring at Berryessa.
City: SuisunTips: Fished the points coming out of the spawning flats. Fished seemed to be holding in 5-ft of water until the sun came out.

Report: NEW PRODUCT REPORT Subject : Fishing With Sid 6

I have been in Miami for the past two weeks and had the chance to do alot of fishing. On one fishing trip I met Joe from Ultra Scent Strike Attractant which was field tested and approved by one of my favorite magazines, "North American Fisherman", with a high rating. We went out deep sea fishing with the Kelly Fleet which is at the Haulover Marina on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. I used four pellets on a my line above my hooks and bait which was squid and let it go to the bottom. The first time I came up with a fish I thought it was just luck and the hook right by the pellets was the one the fish hit. We went to a new spot and were able to use the same pellets. We let the lines out to the bottom again and in less then five minutes I got hit big time by a large bottom fish. My luck continued the rest of the day and I am now a believer in this product. Those on the trip that did not use it did not do as well as those who did. I tried it in fresh water in the creek near where I was staying with good results. I am really excited to try it at Berryessa and will let you know the results. If you are interested in trying this product for any kind of fishing try www.chum-stik.com his name is Joe. 'Til next time..................good fishing!!! See you on the water and if you have any fishing stories to share please email me at bestguide@hotmail.com

Water Temp: 56.4
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: FYI: The free launch was closed due to high water. Went to launch at Monticello and only one side was open to launch. The water is way too high, so be careful when launching.
Fish still plentiful but no size. My brother-in law and I caught about 15 up to 2lbs on senkos and drop-shotting. Every stop we caught fish but you had to find clean water. East side very muddy, fished the south side for most of the fish although we moved to Big Island to catch some SPOTS, holding tight to brush. Left at noon. it was my brother in laws birthday and it was beginning to rain.
City: South San FranciscoTips: Look for clean water, SMB holding outside; SPOTs tight into brushes.

Water Temp: 58-60
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Wow, what a nice day at Berry, sun out and no wind. Fished the south end. Water temp up to 60 in the afternoon! Caught evenly mixed bag of smallies and spots. Did not catch a lot, but all of them were a little bigger than average. Tried back of coves thinking the fish could have been spawning with the full moon. We had no luck. Caught all fish on the points.
City: Elk GroveTips: Dropshot and darters worked for us, could not get the crank or spinnerbait bite going.

Water Temp: 52-54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the Reapers tourney on Saturday and we stuck to the main lake areas on the north end. Bite was slower than Friday but we still managed to get a large enough sack for 4th place (17.3 lbs for 7 fish). Crank'n and rippin accounted for our better fish up to 4 lbs. Also tossed Robo Worms and huls jigs around points for a good bite. Dark colors again with the plastics. The blade bite was off today. Landed a 3+ smallie on the last cast of the day on a Robo worm to help the cause. Great day, great tourney...
City: Rohnert ParkTips: Dark colors again with the plastics. Shad patterns for crankbaits. Work the points around the spawning areas. Stick to the outside edges and just inside the coves for a more constant bite. Don't waste your time in the back water areas until the water warms up closer to 60.

Water Temp: 52-54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished all day Friday up Putah Creek. Started past the farm houses and caught several on a 1/2 oz spinnerbait. Also caught fish on crankbaits and rippin. No big fish, but up to 2.5 lbs. We also caught 3 trout on cranks. Stuck mostly to the reaction bite but also caught some on worms and hula grubs. Overall the bite has been really good lately, but you just have to search for the big fish. A lot of smallies on the bite right now.
City: Rohnert ParkTips: medium diving cranks in shad colors. chart/white blades. Try dark colors if using plastics.

Report: got on the water about 10:30 a.m. launched out of spanish flat. fished putah creek for 2 smallies, one 2 3/4lbs. & the other a dink. missed a decent largemouth, that followed my spinnerbait to the boat! any luck from the tourney fisherman?

Water Temp: 55-57
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Finally a break in the rain! Enjoyed my first outing to Berry this year. Got a late start. It did not help when I went around the horn to launch at Capell Cover to find it closed due to flooding. I was told by an B of Rec employee the ramp closes at 441.5 and the lake is at about 442.5. Well back to Markleys launched at 12 pm, ack! Caught average size spots right out of the gate at the southern most end of the lake. Bite lasted about 1 hour then dewindled the rest of the day. Caught all spots on Carolina Rig (should have tried old faithful dropshot, but I'm trying to fine tune C. Riggin.) Tried to get the bigger bite rippin/crankin later in the day, but only ended with one more average spot on a rip. Heard some did well droppin and dartin.
City: Elk GroveTips: Was unable to put in an honest day on the water and truely get a good pattern going, but most of the spots seemed to be in the back 1/2 of the coves.

Report: Duck Hunt, Launch out of Cappell Cove (it's free). Recent reports have shown that bass are being caught in pope creek, putah creek and off the small island. The weather has been weird, so the depth varies. At Berryessa, green and purple senkos drop-shotted always works and during the spawn, craw and shad colored cranks in the gravel flats nail the big ones.
