Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went to Disappointment Slough and fished several locations that have been productive in the past. Tried senkos, deep and shallow cranks, spinnerbaits and frogs. Managed a few fish but the action was very slow. Saw a few large cruisers in the shallows but they weren’t interested. The one bright spot was a 5 pounder caught on a frog. I don’t often fish frogs so this one was interesting for me. It wasn’t the typical blow up but the bass just came up underneath and sucked the frog down. It just disappeared so I set the hook and it was off to the races. That made my day. Saw lots of fry in the water, mostly real small but some a bit bigger.

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: We launched out of B&W at about 5:30 and the wind was already up. We started in the Moke and had a couple swirls at a buzzbait, but no takers. My dad did hook up with small striper. We moved down to old river and found some fish on the main channel that we were able to catch with green pumpkin weightless texas-rigged senkos on the inside of the tules and punching the outside weed lines. We moved further south again with limited success, but the tide was moving out and then slack low tide while we were out. We called it a day around noon.
City: Elk GroveTips: Weightless texas rigged senkos and punching were the most productive techniques for us, but the closer we got to low tide the tougher the bite became.

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched 615am at B&W and decided to try something different than we usually start (Moke) so we turned right and headed to SJR / Frank's Tract. Wind was whippin' pretty good on the open river so once we got to a rock wall (sorry, I'm not good with all the names of the rivermarks) just northeast of Frank's, we just drifted with the wind throwing lipless cranks in red craw. picked up many shaker stripers and a few almost keeper bass. decided to make our way to Little Connection/H&H for a bio break. Then went through Tower and back to our fav - Moke tules/rockwalls. There we hit more shakers and one nice 24" striper and some 1-2lber bass... mainly on lipless cranks but a few on wacky senkos in watermelon/red flk. Wind calmed down so we moved to Sycamore. There the bite was good for senkos while my buddy continued hookin up with small cranks...I mean small... like small rapalas used for trout. he also caught about 5 using a small curly tailed roboworm in shad pattern (he likes downsizing and using light tackle) Decided to work the crankin' again and we were getting bit as we ran them over weed beds...you could see 2-3 come out of the weedbed to chase the crank and one would take it. none were very big, maybe 1-2lbs max. stayed the rest of the day there til around 2pm and called it a day. high numbers of hits but nothing real big.... but just big fun.
City: folsomTips: ran our cranks diagonal and throwing straight to the tule edges, usually getting hit within 2-3 cranks or else as it strafed the tops of the weeds. some hits right at the boat, both striper and blacks. threw my wacky senko right at the tules and as I dragged over weeds, would either hit or just load up. not sure if we're even close to the right pattern for this time but seemed to work for us...mainly because we like crankin' and when that don't work, we throw senkos or downsizing to small curl tail roboworms.
Worked for us this time around.

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I launched out of B&W at about 5:30 and headed to Little Mandeville Island. I picked up 1 but that went a little over 3#, but it seems that the action there has died out. I moved further south and keyed on sparse tules in about 5-10 feet of water with open water behind them and picked up another that was a little under 4#. The action was slow until the tide turned at 2:00 and started heading back out. Once the current started moving out the bite turned on quick and the frog was lights out. I caught 4 fish in 6 hours on the incoming tide and I caught 4 fish in 2 hours on the outgoing tide. The frog bite was in open water near weed mats and tules, but no action on top of the mats. All-in-all it was a great day with 11 fish and many more opportunities missed. My best 5 went about 14 lbs.
City: Elk GroveTips: The fish seemed to be shut down (or at least I couldn't locate them) during the incoming tide. I keyed on sparse tules that were near deeper water during that time with some good quality bites on a weightless texas-rigged senko, but there were just not many of them. The frog bite seemed to be from male fry guarders and they were very aggressive on the outgoing tide.

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Caught several nice largemouths in the Delta east of the SJ River. The largest was 4 lbs. Tried a variety of baits but the only ones working consistently for me were senkos and spinnerbaits. I didn't launch until about 8:30 and the action was very good until about noon, which was high tide. The wind started getting a little stonger then and the action really cooled down after that.
City: StocktonTips: The senkos needed to be watermelon with red flakes. I tried several other colors without much success.

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at 6 out of River's End and it was already windy. Fished east facing walls throughout the day to stay out of the wind. Picked up a 3 3/4 pounder on top water within the first hour. Couple more like that but no more after 9AM. Caught em here and there on drop shot for the rest of the day. Through frogs, cranks, jerkbaits and punched but no takers.
City: San MateoTips: Drop shot is always my go-to technique when things get tough. I like some flash when the water is stained so typically something with chartreuse.

Water Temp: 67
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of B&W again and headed back to Little Mandeville Island before sunrise. Started with buzz baits again and my 9 year old son hooked up with his biggest fish ever at 4 lbs. There's nothing better than seeing a young kid catch his personal best! We moved inside the island and I caught 7 over the next 2 hours using the Texas-rigged senko in green pumpkin with another 6 lb kicker. It was a slower day than the previous one, but still good with our best 5 going about 15 lbs. My dad lost one inside the island near a break that probably would have gone 8 or 9. The big girls still seem to be up shallow so now's the time to go find your personal best.
City: Elk GroveTips: The Texas-rigged senko is still the go to bait for us to get the bites and it is still producing the big bites as well with our best 5 for the two days going about 26 lbs.

Water Temp: 65
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We launched out of B&W about 6:15 and were at Little Mandeville Island before sunrise. We worked some buzz baits and caught a 4lber on the outside of the island near a break. We moved inside and proceeded to catch about 10 fish in the 1 1/2-2 lb range working a weightless Texas-rigged senko in green pumpkin. We moved over to Mildred island and caught 3 more small fish and 1 that went 6 lbs still on the senko. We finished up the day at Mandeville Tip (that what I call it, it's the island just east of Prisoner's Point on the San Joaquin if anyone knows the actual name). I fished the eastern bank to escape some of the wind and caught another 6 lber up shallow in the weeds with the senko. All in all a good day with out best 5 going about 21 lbs.
City: Elk GroveTips: We've had more success with the Texas-rigged senko than anything else. I keep working with jigs and cranks, but just don't produce the bites that the senko is producing right now. Work the weed lines and tules slowly and you should have some luck.

Water Temp: 65-67
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched B&W 6:45am, started crankin' at top of the Moke and worked down tule island strips...just one shaker striper on a crank for my brother. Just had the itch to throw cranks..dumb idea I guess.
Decided to move up to Sycamore..worked jig w/craw trailer along rock wall/tule weedbeds finding potholes. Brother picked up 3 in a row and I followed him with 2 more. 5 total for me, 7 for my brother. brown/green jig w/Strike King Rage Craw in CA Craw color. Was **WINNNDDDYYYY** nowhere to hide from it!
City: folsomTips: All hits came on the fall except one as I was watching my brother catch one, I realized I was gettin' hit as my jig dragged through the weedbed... and all were aggressive males. 1.5lb avg. Looked for potholes in the weed patches but mostly threw at the wall and popped it back once or twice, then the hit would come letting it fall. Brother used a stinger hook on his jig and caught at least 3 on that stinger. I'm gonna try it next outing.

Water Temp: 66-70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Orwood at 7:30 and tried for some top water just outside the no wake zone, but no takers. Slack tide. Ran up to Bull Frog Marina area, still no luck. Ducked out of the wind into Mildred and fished beds for the rest of the day. Caught 13 fish, almost all on drop shot, 23 total for the two of us. Biggest went just shy of 4 3/4 lbs., video here: http://youtu.be/mo9u5WjXgMQ
City: San MateoTips: All fish on blue gill pattern Roboworms, 6" Fat. Look for light patches in the 1-4' of water. Most of the time I didn't actually see the fish on the beds but they were always close by. Caught a few fish on weed lines as well.

Water Temp: 59-62 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Orwood at 7:15 and ran up to Franks Tract and fished the back of tule islands. Got windy so ran over to Little Mandeville to fish the breaks. 1 keeper, 1 dink, still a little breezy. On the way down to Disco, saw a little cove where we thought there might be some spawners. Picked up a couple keepers on dropshot (video: http://youtu.be/ivlyHSPSKD0) but saw no beds. Rest of fish came on dropshot (me) and t-rig weightless senko (buddy) down in Disco Bay. 13 fish total for the boat but only 5 keepers. This week should be off the chain.
City: San MateoTips: I don't care for finesse fishing (too slow) but man if they aren't even biting a jerk bait it's good to know a technique that'll get a bite. For me it's dropshot on 8# Tatsu, Pumpkin Punisher Roboworm. Get's em every time.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Caught around 15 bass in White Slough and Disappointment Slough but nothing big. Most were in the 1-2 lbs. range with a couple of dinks thrown in. Four were caught on a white/chartreuse spinnerbait, a couple on cranks, and the rest on a blue/black Senko.

Water Temp: 60 - 93
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Friday 3-28-14, we launched out of Holland Riverside Marina and fished inside and outside of Mildred Tract (Island). We fished only with wacky rigged Sencos and drop-shoot rigged 7 in. RoboWorms. We ended the day with 64 fish. Almost all of the fish were caught on several colors of the 7 in. RoboWorms. Try different colors but those that are blue or purple work best. Only a few were caught on 6 and 7 in. Pumpkin and Water Mellon colored Sencos. The fished ranged from 1 lb. to 4 lb. with most in the 2 lb to 3 lb range (all males). The several fish that we caught in the 3 to 4 lb range were female. As the tide moved out there were no fish near shore. They were in at least 5 ft of water off shore and in the trees. Just before high tide and as it started to move out, fish were caught near shore. We did not see any beds.
City: PinoleTips: The water temperature is right for the spawn. However, it looks like the males are only moving in an out looking for bedding areas. They appear not to be committed yet because of the cold nights and the new moon.

Water Temp: 62-65
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Orwood at 7:15. Got one on top water just south of there then a couple more strikes. Picked up a couple more on a tule island point. Picked up dinner on another island point with a 46' drop off (see video). Few more here and there. All in all, pretty slow day with 7 fish including the striper. Still fun though. Here's the video: http://youtu.be/9G5kiXLQGq4
City: San MateoTips: 2nd weekend on the Delta with the Luck-E-Strike RC Stick. Really produce numbers but haven't run into any bigger fish yet. Caught a couple on dropshot in Disco bay too using roboworms. Didn't see any bed fish and we were running around all over the place.

Water Temp: 59-64
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Finished a 3 day fishing vacation on the Delta.
The wife and I stayed at the fishing cottage at
Beacon Harbor. Nice. First two days were off the charts 10+ fish both days. 1.5 to 2 lbs biggest two maybe hit 3. Almost all on wacky rigged 5" senkos, green pumpkin and green pumpkin
with purple flake. A few on Cooch's brown Wadda Jig with purple and blue flake Yamamoto single tailed grub. Temperature dropped the second night and that really slowed things down the third day only 2... yeah that must be it, the weather, couldn't be me ;)Tips: Wacky rigged senkos, against tules with moving deepish > 8ft water.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Couldn't buy a bite around discovery bay. Saw some cruisers, but 0 fish on beds. Picked a up a small male on drop shot between the weeds and rocks, sitting in 1-2 foot of water.
We netted a dead striped that had choked to death on a 6.5 inch sun fish. My son being a true fisherman tried to count them as two more fish that we caught.
City: BrentwoodTips: Jak's Custombaits Slick Worm in candy bug did the trick. They are cheaper than roboworms

Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at 7:45 out of Orwood, fished a little just south of there before Disco but no takers. Headed over to Mildred, stopped and picked up a shaker striper by the railroad tracks. Nailed a a handful on new jerkbait just right around Bull Frog Marina. Got a 2lb. 3oz. on topwater off a point just south Mildred (see video). Fished the breaks around Mildred and Mandeville where I got the rest of the fish. 11 total, maybe 5 or 6 keepers, best 5 would have only been in the 7 lb range. Top water was Sammy in MS American Shad pattern. New jerkbait is Luck-E-Strike RC Stick (41/2" Purple Flash, upgrade the hooks and split rings). Two best here: http://youtu.be/68ndwGETLao
City: San MateoTips: Most of the fish came on the the levee breaks. All of the fish were relating to grass lines.

Water Temp: 58 - 59
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Wednesday 3-5-14, we launched out of Holland Riverside Marina and fished inside and outside of Mildred Tract (Island). We tried many different techniques but were successful with only three of them. We ended the day with 19 fish. Eight fish were caught on a 7-in. Senko rigged wacky style, six by drop-shotting a 6-in. RoboWorm and five on a Reaction Innovation Boom-Boom tube. They ranged from 1 lb. to 5 lb. 2 oz. All appeared to be males with the exception of the 5-pounder which looked to be full of eggs. More than half of the fish were caught on ledges in 5 to 10 feet of water near the bank. Others were caught at the same depth but in the flooded trees.
City: PinoleTips: The males are starting to stage and it won’t be long before the water temperature is over 60º and large females will be following.

Water Temp: 50 - 52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Friday 1-31-14, my buddy and I launched out of Holland Riverside Marina and fished near Little Mandeville all morning. It was cold and windy. We tried many different techniques but caught no fish. In the afternoon, we move backed to the Holland Tract area. Still no fish. As we were about to quit later in the afternoon, we came upon a large mat of Hyacinth extending from shore out to 20 ft. of water. My buddy decided to flip his drop-shot rig into a small hole in the mat in about 15 ft. of water. He dead sticked his seven inch RoboWorm for about 15 seconds and son-of-a-gun his line started to move. He had the first fish of the day. I said, if there is one fish there, there should be more. He when right back into the same hole and caught another fish. A few minutes later, I caught a fish. Because we hooked these fish using our light pole and line, there was a problem getting the fish out of the mat. To solve this problem, I used my telescoping lure retriever to widen the hole in the mate to pull the fish through. If it wasn’t late, we would have continued this pattern and probably caught more fish.
City: PinoleTips: If nothing is working, try punching Hyacinth mats with 6 and 7-inch Roboworms. If you are using a light pole and line, use a telescoping lure retriever to get your fish though the mat.
