    Water Temp: Mid 70's?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Here is the real swimbait story. On a Sun. night 5 wks. ago (I always ish on mon.) I was loading my extraordinarily crappy boat or my weekly ishing trip to Folsom. For some reason the heavy action trigger stick with the reel Randy said looked as it belonged on the river (A Calcutta 250 that Markey-Ray could use or catish) with a optimum swimbait on it was calling my name. I loaded my boat and went in the crib to go to bed. At the last minute I went out and threw the swimbait rod in the truck. I launched at Browns at 5:40 (the old guy is early at the shack). The irst place I drove to is a well known oshore rock pile. On the 5th cast with the swimbait I snagged it. I eased up to it with the trolling motor and popped it ree. Immediately upon doing this I elt HEAVY mushy pressure. I set the hook and ater a heavy skirmish lipped a large bass. This ish went 24".I pounded that spot a while and hooked and lost another heavy ish. Ater casting more to no avail I cruised to my normal south ork haunts. I tossed the swimbait and my usual selection o small plastics or naught.I igured I would go back to the rockpile and toss the trout some more. O course when I got there a boat was sitting on it. I proceeded to a point about 300 yds. away where I had caught a 3lb. largemouth the week prior slow rolling a spinner bait.I like to cast across points parallel to shore. The wind blew me across the point and I casted with it but no ish. I drited past the point and picked up my swimbait rod and gave the trout a mighty heave.Nothing. I chucked it again and briely hung it on the bottom. Upon popping it loose I elt that wonderul mushy pressure again. Much to my consternation this ish was only 23&1/4". I elt the need to weigh it so I ran to the other boat sitting on my earlier spot (stopping every50 yds. or so to give it a dunk) and according to the scale they had it weighed in at 7lb.6oz. The irst one must have weighed 8 easy. I ished or a short time longer but was satisied with the days results and called it a day at about 11:30.
    City: Gold River

Tips: Both ish were caught in about 16' o water. The 1st. at 6:00a.m. the second at 10:30 a.m. This true story was classiied ino (only Randy was told) until now. Good Luck!

Report: My partner, Bill and me had a riendly tournament against RXMan and his bud out at Folsom on Saturday. Launched at Dike 8. We both headed towards the pennisula, but I noticed that there were already a string o boats ishing the hazardous buoys, so we headed up towards the North Fork. RXMan team joined the other suckers ishing the buoys. Needless to say, although ishing was slow, we kicked their butts, but not by much. We landed our keepers (all spots), ortunately one was a kicker 3# spot. They also managed our keepers, all smallies. Both team caught all their ish on magic worms. Considering the heat, plus all the boaters and jet skiers on the lake Saturday, we were lucky to catch any ish.

Report: This is in response to the last 2 reports. First o all, I would like to say that I have been guilty in the past o ripping on jet skiers or wakeboarders. Just a ew weeks I came o the water wanting to drown every boarder and skier I saw, when it took me over an hour to trailer the boat. However, lately I have been doing some thinking and trying to be a little more patient on the water and keep a more positive attitude toward pleasure crats. First o all, we all pay tax dollars and everyone has the same rights to public waters. I think that Marks rustration in his report is the disrepect that many o the jet skiers and water skiers show to the isherman and ellow boaters and skiers in general. This problem is nothing new and will continue. The one thing that helps me get threw the warmwater ishing season is that I can get up at the crack o dawn and enjoy some damn peaceul ishing until about 11am. Then, when the lake starts to get a little bit crazy it is time to pack it up and go home. The only good staying on the water any longer will do is to put me in a worse mood toward the skiers. I have actually come to like ishing the colder months and have become pretty proicient at it because I appreciate the peaceul time on the water more. The only time now that I let the skiers beat me up is when I am in a tournament and have no choice but to be out in the chaotic part o the day. What helps me, is to wake up that morning and to just accept that it will be busy on the water. I've even ound that the boats stirring up the water can turn on a good reaction bite. Also, the bikini's aren't to bad look at either. Remember, the guys on the ski's and personal watercrat cherish their ree time as much as the isherman, so try to show patience. Let's try and make an eort rom here on out to stick to ishing reports, because that what this web page is all about. Good ishing!

    Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out on Fri. ater work and got on the water about 6pm. Managed around 15 bass to 3#'s and one big gill. We caught most o our ish ripping. The wind was howling and the water was pretty stained up rom the boat traic and the wind. I swear there were more people on the lake Fri. than on the weekend. It was packed out there. Anyways, we decided to make the wind our riend and igured that there would deinitely have to be a good reaction bite on points. About 20 minutes beore dark we really ripped and cranked some beautiul smallies to 3 #'s. Not a bad trip or two hours o ishing. On Sunday, my buddy John Kort and I went to Folsom at irst light or a beautiul morning o ishing. Had a decent top water bite irst thing and worked our way down the water column as the sun got on the water. Went to ripping next, then senkos in the trees and inally darterheads on the rocks. We pulled up on a point that was loaded with spawning spots and they were all over our darters and mojo's. We ended up hitting around 25 to 2 1/2 pounds. Fished untill 11 am and got o the lake beore most o the nuts got there.
    City: roseville

Tips: do believe that the ish are starting to pull out o the trees a bit, but there are still plenty o ish in the pre-spawn mode. On Fri, saw some nice blacks on beds and on Sun. we caught big at pre-spawn blacks and spots. The top water bite is just starting to kick in. Many ish to be caught in the 4-10 oot range.

On a lark switched to small shad raps and my son caught a smally about 1/2 pound. I'm an old prairie walleye isherman trying to learn (and teach my kid) bassin'. Report: Started out in North arm around 12:00 ishing rock pileswith a darter head shakin, not much happening. Switched to a rip bait with same results. At 2:30 went south to New Yorkcove and saw bait on the meter around 30 to 40 t.started to drop shot 3'' reapers 12'' up. In the next hour had a limit at 11 lbs. every ish was a clone at two lbs. anda ew oz. Ater another hal hour or so I started to slowroll a spinnerbait bangin the shoreline. I was ready to giveup ater 20 or 30 minutes when my line stopped. I irst -thought It was snagged but the line started moving so I setup and to my surprise was rewarded with a 7lb 1 oz. beauty.A great day or this time o year
    City: Granite Bay

Tips: dont bother to dropshot unless you have bait under you. Also my new pinpoint 7520 made a huge dierence in seeing what was down there. Icould litterally watch mybait sink into the schools o bait.
