Report: I ished San Pablo Reservoir rom 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. My ather and I ished poppers and spinnerbaits in the Preserve irst thing. We didn't catch any bass there, but witnessed in amazement as a 10lb+ bass jumped out o the water 3 times!!! We then motored over to Scow Canyon and ished the entire canyon with spinnerbaits. No hits, but saw a 2lb+ bass jump. Then ished along bobber beach and my dad caught two nice bass on a 3/8-oz Terminator. Ater a couple more passes we went back to the preserve and ished Senkos and spinnerbaits. Nothing. The water in the preserve is muddy. Went back to bobber beach and I caught a 16-1/2" 2lb bass on a Vyper spinnerbait. Made 4 or 5 more passes on bobber and got a ew more hits but no hookups.
City: ClaytonTips: Try spinnerbaits and ind clearer water.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well, once again I hit good old San Pablo. The trout bite stinks right now. No matter I went to catch bass. I usually use a 4" worm split shotted. I didn't get a bite on it all day. I switched to the trusty spinner bait and ended up landing 4 bass. One was around 3lbs and the others were small. They keep dropping the water level and I think it is really screwing up the ishing. I ished all day and talked to a ew isherman only 2 trout were caught by all the people I talked to. I will be heading back soon.
City: AlamedaTips: CATCH AND RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems like powerbait is the bait o choice so I will bring some along. Thanks or any tips.

Report: Wallratt, I totally agree with you. Bass killer- I'd like to think that you aren't serious, but i you are, YOU ARE INCREDIBLY SELFISH AND YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS SPORT. Personally I'm pro conservation and preservation, as I know many o us bass anglers are. Even i NO ONE gets to ish the lake, there's no reason why it can't go on existing. Guess what, humans aren't the only ones who use the lake. You want to ruin what you can't have so no one, or nothing else can have it. Here's a question, when you ound out about the ban pending on all gas engines, did you go home and have a temper tantrum, kicking and screaming on the loor? And you call yoursel a bass angler. It's ignorent people like you who not only give this wonderul sport a bad name, but also make it harder or those o use who genuinly love this great sport, and who have great respect or the wonderul natural settings we devote our weekends to. For the record, I think that the ban will beneit that lake, and I'm very tired o hearing rom people who blame it or all o there hardships. News lash, we live in Northern Caliornia, a place illed with other trophy bass opportunities. You won't die i you can't ish San Pablo! Get over it! And i it means that much to you, buy a little "pond prowler" or what ever those things are called, or get a jon boat or something. That will only set you back around $1500 or so. That way you won't have to come complain to this board ater you have spent thousands getting a our stroke or what ever. PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE THAT A GAS BAN AT SAN PABLO IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! Besides, isn't San Pablo in a bass-less rut right now as it is? I'm sorry to all o you who don't need to hear this, and I'd also like to point out that not all o this is directed at Bass killer. I totally agree that this is a board to be used or inormation exchange, and not slinging mud, but I elt something had to be said. Good ishing to all o you true bass anglers!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Well, I went to Pablo planning on landing some bass. I did manage to catch one and missed a ew more. I decided to throw out a little powerbait on my other rod because the Bass ishing was so bad. I have never caught so many trout. Honestly I stopped counting at 20. I missed at least ten more. I decided to troll or a bit and bam 3 more in a hal an hour. I heard later that they had stocked the lake with 3,600 pounds o trout so that may be the reason I caught so many. I was using chartruese lake bait about three eet o the bottom. Berkely attractant was the key I think. I am going back Friday so hopeully I can get some bass. I saw people casting with all there might and they asked me why they weren't getting any. The ish are no more than 20 eet out in shallow water. Don't over cast.
City: AlamedaTips: CATCH AND RELEASE. I did it on all but two o my ish. They wouldn't have survived.

Water Temp: cold
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went to Pablo last week and it was pretty rough going. I tried early on or Bass but, the cold water and the low vis made it tough. Swithched to trolling. Missed 2 ish and inally caught one. It was a 18" rainbow. Thought I was doing good until a boat pulled up and showed me his 5.5lb rainbow. Wow what a ish said he caught it on a broken back rainbow trout rapala. I can't wait until summer when it is bass time. I did great last year on about 10 visits caught at least 30 bass up to 5lbs. Missed a ew hogs though. I WILL get them this year. Oh yea, catch and realease is the only way to go.
City: AlamedaTips: For bass I have ound that they love the green-weenie black pepper lake 4"-6" Katlins hand pours. Good luck, remember you can't ish a plastic worm too slow. The preserve rocks!

City: El SobranteTips: Keep one thing in mind, "ish very slow and on the bottom." I used the new robo worm or so called zipper worm. They are very sot and perorm well in thick cover rigged texas style.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Partner and I ished rom 7a to 5p starting in the preserve or bass. Threw everything I could think o and not one bite. Let preserve and immediately started trolling or trout hitting irst one ater about 10 minutes. Trolled over to Scow without another bite, so started dunking powerbait, nothing major until the cloud cover passed and then the ish woke up. 9 trout to 3# in about 3 hours and probably lost just as many.
City: San FranciscoTips: Fish the banks to either side o Scow Canyon, use Chartruese Powerbait.
