Report: Yes, the jones valley ramp is open. However, it is not the primary launch, you have to drive out just a ways on a dirt road to a secondary ramp.
    City: Redding

Tips: The fish are coming up and they are coming up quick. Try any water around where running water is coming into the lake and in smaller coves. Senkos have been killing them. Also caught a few on jerkbaits. Good Luck man.

    Water Temp: 49.8

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: In my last post (one under this one), I indicated that I had caught a few Coho (silver salmon) this weekend. Now after speaking with locals and other anglers, they were probably small King Salmon and not Silvers. I guess I mis-identified my catch. The DFG Regs say you can't keep ANY Sinver Salmon in the state of Calif unless there were caught in Lake Oroville. I guess I was gun-shy and didn't want a DFG violation.
I missed out on a good salmon dinner I guess.

    Water Temp: 49.8

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Trolled Jones Valley area Monday morning and caught two 17" trout first light at about 10' of water (150 feet behind boat) using a Seps flasher (silver willow blades/red beads) and a silver/blue hum-dinger. Dropped deeper to about 30 feet of water and caught two silver salmon using a home-made silver willow leaf flasher with yellow beads and a gold Kastmaster (released them of course due to new regs). Switched to a colarado leaf gold and silver Seps flasher using a home-made shad looking silver lure and stayed at 30 feet of water working the edges of the lake. Caught a few FAT 18" largemouths gourged with minnows. Looks like almost anything resembling a shad minnow will do the trick. Water is cold and trout/salmon are running shallow to feed on shad. Bass seem to be hanging 30-40 feet also feeding on shad.
    City: Cottonwood

Tips: Troll or throw silver shad immitation lures. Don't forget the Shad-Gel adding a nice scent to your presentation and of course... release all Coho (Silver) salmon.

Report: Just got back from two days on Shasta. The two of us fished the Sac arm on Saturday and caught 12 fish. Two biggest were 17 and 18 inches. Two were on artificial (spinner bait)and the rest on live minnows. We fished the main body on Sunday and caught a total of 35 fish. Largest was 16 inches. Six were on artificial (one senko, 5 on shaky worm)and the rest live minnows. We tried senkos, beavers, spinnerbaits and yuki bug, they just seemed to want live minnows!!
